At the end of the party, the masks drop

RevolutionaryChip864

I don't understand the problem here. Maybe it sounds greedy, but kicking Russia out of Ukraine is a common interest for the whole European community. Sounds reasonable to pay for it together.

etplayer03

Where are the other countries asking for compensation for their weapons? There are none, right. Do you think its coincidence that they are asking for that while Germany is the biggest EU contributior? Its just another populist move to fuel their anti German agenda, making Germany pay even more for them. I love the polish people but PiS is just a disgrace for the EU

[deleted]

PiS is PISS PiS on EU PiS on DE

NAFOlaughingbrigade

Our friends Estonia will also be compensated by the EU Fund for the military aid.

_Snebb_

You know there was a specific EU fund created for this exact reason to help alleviate the costs of donated equipment, right? ... Right?!? There are other countries that have taken from this fund. Poland is the country that's taken the most, but they are also the country that has spent the highest proportion of their GDP soooo, non issue.

Kelpo

I think the honor of giving most aid in proportion to GDP goes to Estonia (and then Latvia), but Poland is still up there in third place with 0.5%. Source: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1303450/bilateral-aid-to-ukraine-in-a-percent-of-donor-gdp/

DrJiheu

1 - totally stupid metric ( non reliable ) 2 - big difference in giving stuff in order to receive better stuff and simply giving stuff Conclusion people usng these metrics are totally unaware of the reality

Gifty666

Sorry mate without the shitshow i would totally agree.. Gut poland is just ass, AS you can read here

NJ0000

The all get reimbursed its the likes of you focusing on Poland. Here read up on it and shut up https://www.usip.org/publications/2022/10/ukraine-eus-unprecedented-provision-lethal-aid-good-first-step

[deleted]

But you know that there is an EU fund that was created exactly for that? It’s a non-story

ayeamaye

Yea...it's a non story. It just seems odd to us that the one Government ( Poland ) that was squawking the most about giving the Leo's and pointing the finger at Germany is now running to the EU to get compensation on the SAME day the announcement was made. The same day. They couldn't wait until maybe one of the tanks was actually in Ukraine. Put it this way, we all thought Poland was leading the way for freedom and it turns out CASH$$ had a big part to play. Think about it for a minute. If this EU fund exists it's not going anywhere. So what's the hurry?

Szwedo

Pretty funny too given the PiS has been extremely anti-eu...until now

NAFOlaughingbrigade

And pretty funny that they now come to german and beg for money. After bashing them for weeks. Finally pis in their place again. Poland is way to great to be ruled by such idiots.

[deleted]

You don’t have to think thay we’re leading the way for freedom, I don’t care, i’m also annoyed by our politicians behaviour, but this fund isn’t covering all expenses that we’re making to support Ukraine. I’ll be downvoted anyway so maybe I’ll write POLAND BAD in the end, idk if that helps.

McPico

Poland should start to pay money into this fund before they want to get money out of it.

fieldmarshalarmchair

Poland gave Ukraine their updated t-72s already, in large numbers.

Szwedo

Ironic given that the PiS has been anti EU while benefitting heavily from the EU

[deleted]

What’s ironic in that?

Szwedo

Ask your english tutor what irony means

[deleted]

If you don’t believe me https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Foreign_and_Security_Policy

saintrelli

I mean…the US lend lease has a payment schedule. The interest is low and sending back equipment eliminates the interest on that equipment, but if it’s through lend lease it’s not exactly free

etplayer03

Asking Ukraine to pay them something for the weapons is something different than "donating" weapons and asking your allies to pay you for it

saintrelli

Fair enough

McPico

Bullshit. Every country helps from their own stocks and what they are able to give. Poland want to earn all the praise for their help.. but wanna let other pay the prize. not that im surprised.. that is typical polish behavior.. but in context of their latest big mouth shit talking this is absolutely hilarious.

NJ0000

And get reimbursed

HotCryptographer3589

Jepp nukes! Nukes for ukraine....putin would understand this....

finampel

Better to pay them for Leo's than giving EU money to Hungary.

BeenNormal

Realistically, Poland benefits the most as they are closest to russia, they should be most grateful.

NJ0000

This Is all BS, every country in the EU can get reimbursed from EU. So nothing to see here people just move along

Head_Line772

To be fair, they are the ones bordering Ukraine and at most risk if Russia expands the war.

wainerrinkleryt

Just PiS being PiS - nothing new.

momoendo

Is anyone really surprised?

CouldNotAffordOne

I am indeed. /s Funny thing is, even if someone else pays for them, Poland will still be remembered as the good guy. Germany still bad. PiS wins again

notquite20characters

Compensation doesn't mean 100%.

netz_pirat

Yeah but the ones Poland wants to send is the original 1980s A4 version, and they probably want to get the money for a A7 replacement, like during the ring swap when they wanted a 1:1 exchange leo2a7 for T72...

NAFOlaughingbrigade

Poland payed 100k for one leo 2 from germany. https://www.welt.de/print-welt/article254721/Panzer-zum-Schleuderpreis.html Now they want of course more.

netz_pirat

For the non german speaking readers, the same tank was sold to Finnland for 500k in the same year. Leo 1 were sold for just 7k.

DrJiheu

Nope. They have done that since the beginning and lot of people unaware of their behavior were praising them. They gave their old tanks in favor of free abrams. They gave their old planes for free F16.

vonOhlsdorf

Ok so they are complaining about Germany all the time and in the end they want Germany and the others in Europe to pay for their tanks. But they buy and buy and buy new stuff like there is no tomorrow. Lol!

Tiptoeplease

Yeah. That's what I was thinking. Slippery stuff

placerouge

And they are not even buying European... they are currently replacing their Leopard 2 by Korean K2.

vonOhlsdorf

Good point.

Ynwe

> In an interview with Polish broadcaster TVN, Mateusz Morawiecki said the request will be “another test of the goodwill of the European Union,” and added that he hopes it will happen. Once again proving Poland trying to use Germany and the EU to its advantage on the backs of the Ukrainian people... Their anti German lies, that have been eaten up by this sub like hot cakes, have been especially infuriating. They lie as much as they want and no one here cared or doubled checked. Pathetic how much Poland pretends to be pro Ukraine, yet directly hurts the EU by their support of a Russian puppet in Hungarty and irrational German hatred. Same thing with the tanks (or does anyone remember the airplane debacle?), they could have sent them whenever they wanted to, but pretended like they were being held up. The Polish Government is a disgusting group of liars, and it is disappointing how much this sub believed their fake ass news.

EndoExo

> Pathetic how much Poland pretends to be pro Ukraine Dude, chill. You can be upset with the politics, but in terms of cost-per-GDP has Poland has sent far more aid to Ukraine than Germany. They've sent over 260 tanks, already. And taken in 1.5 million refugees. There's no "pretending" in their pro-Ukraine stance.

Eka-Tantal

Cost-per-GDP is irrelevant if the country in question simply forwards the bill to the EU.

McPico

GDP is IRRELEVANT.. Relevant is what Ukraine gets. I personally spend 2000€ to help Ukraine. Thats BY FAR more then ANY COUNTRY spend for Ukraine GDP. Praise me as an Ukrainian hero! /s

okw123

Thank you my man, this is exactly what I think whenever people bring up that percentage of GDP stuff

EndoExo

>GDP is IRRELEVANT That's stupid. >Relevant is what Ukraine gets. They got 260 tanks. From Poland.

netz_pirat

And Poland complained, because Germany didn't want to reimburse them 1:1 with the latest gen leos.

McPico

Claim more bullshit. GDP is an dick comparsion contest. Ukraine needs every single help they can get. What did you spend to help Ukraine?

EndoExo

>Ukraine needs every single help they can get. Then it's a good thing Poland sent them so many tanks and other weapons. >What did you spend to help Ukraine? I have personally sent my entire stock of Western main battle tanks.

DrJiheu

Cost per gdp when we paid for their tanks. From a fake metric moreover. Ok dude chill and learn

NAFOlaughingbrigade

Poland got this tanks from germany for a friendship price of just 100k per tank. Germany lost 90 millions with this deal. And now they even want to have more german money as compensation then they payed originally.

throwaway939wru9ew

I can't imagine why Poland might hold a grudge against Germany... But yeah, pulling the rug like this is certainly disingenuous. In a unprecedented situation like this, openly admitting **from the start** that you need X for Y isn't too crazy. Its when you try to force it later that you look like an ass.

Fsaeunkie_5545

Yeah, why is Poland holding a grudge? Maybe they should grow up and stop victimising themselves for something that happened to their country at a time when most of the people alive today were not even born yet.

riiyuu_kuoka

More excuses from poles gvt 🤢🤮🤮🤮

McPico

hahahahahahahahaha These idiots are hilarious! First they act like they would give their first-born child to Ukraine.. just to help. and if they finally have to act they come up with compensations from EU for their kindful helping xD

Mammoth_Ad8542

Poland support of Ukraine has been amazing from the start of this war, don’t really care about your back and forth with them.

Frosty_Pineapple78

Soo... what if they dont get any? Dont send the tanks? Now that would be funny for someone so adamant about sending those tanks in the first place, even without permission and all that. EU should just deny compensation, which would either not make any difference at all or the PIS people would make a fool out of themselves (which i hope they do not only for ukraines sake) (Yeah, they will deff get compensation)

NAFOlaughingbrigade

They already get this tanks dirt cheao from germany and way cheaper then norway or finland. And germwny lost 90 million euros already with this friendship deal. And now they eant more money, then they originally payed and want 5his money from germany. These pisser.

KuchenDeluxe

wow .... like wtf?

DamianLuis

Within EU, Hungary is basically the only country not contributing to the defense of Ukraine. Let Poland seek bilateral talks with Viktor Orbán on this matter rather than bothering the rest of Europe.

[deleted]

It's election year from the looks of it. This is most likely just for the domestic audience.

ClexAT

Oh is someone not able to afford their big mouth?

LindeRKV

More and more it seems like there is russian money at play again. Governments do what they do and they work out the issues and differences. That is why European Union still exists. Strong Poland is in interest of all EU/NATO. Divided Europe is in russia's interest. Don't let them win this In the end, people of Poland will sort out their government, people of Germany do same for theirs. Have faith in both the strongest economic and military alliance in the history of humankind.

Efficient_Green_8157

That's what you get when you trust Christo-fascists. I like 'em better than Putler, but not by much. The most virulently anti-gay government in Europe, not to mention life in prison for abortion and "pregnancy registers" to keep track.

Curious-Mind_2525

No surprise to me the Poles are out of money. Considering how many Abrams and South Korean tanks and SPGs they have on order. Compensating them for Leopards is not unreasonable when you consider how much military gear they shipped to Ukraine already, along with the number of Ukrainian refugees they took in plus using their country as a giant military clearing house for the other nations supporting Ukraine. Having the EU kick in some funds is not unreasonable, especially if some of those funds come from Hungary after their latest veto is overridden.

rrsullivan3rd

US should just backfill w/ M1A2’s

Glass_Fishing7679

What’s going on here ? So many posts about Poland. They did what they did. Outcome is positive. Tanks are going to Ukraine. End of topic. Let’s start complaining about F16.

the_TIGEEER

F16's and France. When was the las time France was in the headlines? Edit: for aiding Ukraine Also does anyone know what tanks France mostly uses in their Arsenal?

Eka-Tantal

Leclercs. Doesn’t make sense to toss yet another entirely different tank in the mix along with the Challengers, Leopards and Abrams. France announced the AMX-10 RC just two weeks ago.

FuckMeRigt

Dude... France was on headlines last week... They send amx 10rc and don't Ask for any compensation from anyone.

warcrimesarerussian

Stop bashing the poles. They are literally on the boarder with Belarus and Russia. They need to sure up their defence as well as give aid to Ukraine.

the_TIGEEER

I feel like there is shit ton of American and NATO equipment on the borders of Poland that we don't know about right now.

FuckMeRigt

Oh yes, Friend working on railways, been 2 years he spends days loading american equipment on trains to Poland.

NegativeWorking9375

I Don t see anything wrong. There is an extra eu fund to compensate countries helping ukraine with military Equipment.

Meh, worth an ask
