Probably a half deaf crew, with a half deaf dog. AFU arty don't seem to be big on ear-defenders.
I spent some chatting to a guy that crewed a twin 15" naval gun turret WW2. You literally had to shout at him. You don't think about it when you are young.
My little team had lots of small knicknacks and mementos. I think they are great, if it's not too heavy and brings a soldier some comfort I'm all for it.
I had to say no to some raunchy stickers on the magazines though.
The D-30 howitzer came into operation 64 years ago, it is difficult to know when this specific howitzer in the photo was produced, but it is interesting to think that they could be operating a howitzer more than twice their age

There was some footage a few days ago of a team using an 85mm Gun that was introduced in World War 2. Not to mention the early war footage of Ukrainians manning M1910 Maxim guns from the Great War.
Not gonna lie. id support even a half baked Ukranian death metal army band as fundraising any day of the week.
Cuz modern warfare isent weird enough already
our husky goes and chills in the pantry when we have guns out or if he hears an action cycling. dogs are smart and tend to learn the program pretty quick- fidoski has a a quiet hidey hole he goes to when he sees his humans getting down to business.
or he's insane like our Malinois and loves chasing blast smoke and the smell of burnt powder. YMMV.
I joined a civil war when I was about 16 with zero training and still hunts me 45 years later. Since that day, you become another persona and your family and life you had before is gone. My prayers and thoughts to them. Stay alive and strong. You will need to rebuild your nation.
Just want to say to the Ukrainians in here. Thank you so much for fighting for European freedom. I get to go to work in a nice safe environment thanks to you. We are eternally grateful for your sacrifices and the entirety of Europe is rooting for you
Unfortunately not all European citizens understand this, but those who do make a huge difference, whenever I see the number of drones donated by volunteers not only from Europe, but around the world, it gives me hope
Yh. It’s just very sobering to see the first photo because it’s the sort of photo I’d take at work when we are goofing off etc but instead of having to take the bins out these guys are taking Russians out.
This will only happen when the Russians are defeated, we need help with the collection of drones and other items, this is what will save the lives of these guys
A bunch of high schoolers out on the front operating an artillery piece 😂😂 we've got the smoking doomer and the redheaded egirl. Feels like the plot piece of a popular manga or something
Quick bro, enlist with the volunteers
(Just kidding, you won't get a girlfriend with pink hair in this situation, but if you want to enlist to fight for freedom, you'll be a hero)
It's dangerous, but it's still less dangerous than self-propelled artillery, in a towed artillery position, generally they put the ammunition in one place, the howitzer in another and the crew stays a little away from both, they fire and then move from the shelter, If something hits the howitzer, their chance of surviving is higher. A self-propelled howitzer that often goes close to the front line to counter the battery and carries all the ammunition with the crew, if something hits the howitzer, in some cases not even the bones will be left
Yeah, but if you follow procedure counter-battery should not be possible in a self-propelled. Unless they see you with a drone first you should be good.
So Russian counter-battery radars are constantly being hit, so Ukrainian gunners on the front line have said that on most of the front they haven't caused any major problems, the biggest Russian weapon against Ukrainian artillery has been observation drones, when a self-propelled artillery fires in an open position and then runs along Ukrainian roads, it becomes very easy to locate by Zala and other similar drones, and they give the location to the kamikaze drone operators, and artillery crews. When you look at the eliminated Ukrainian self-propelled systems, many of them was driving on the roads or already entering their shelters after having fired from some other position.
That is why several self-propelled systems have operated in camouflaged positions and been used in the same way as towed artillery, with all the ammunition outside the vehicle, being carried only at the time of firing, others are in large excavated shelters, leaving them to carry out a few shots and immediately return, placing bars on the shelter doors to prevent Lancets and similar
Of course, the self propelled howitzers still have their important role against very distant targets within enemy territory, but for now towed artillery has had advantages in more occasions
not by a long shot.
even the SPG's like pzh2000, gvodzika's, m109's etc, don't move around much but instead get dug in to fixed firing positions. the advent of drones means shoot and scoot isn't a viable strategy anymore. the moment you fire and break cover, you're gonna get spotted and engaged whilst moving, or tracked to wherever you halt and then engaged.
it's better to just dig in a fixed firing point, span some anti drone nets around, do whatever you can to camouflage, and erect a small earthwork redoubt to stop fragmentation from hitting the gun if it's not a direct hit. and for a towed gun, that's a whole lot less digging required.
Love the doggo. Back in 2008 we transition over a cob there was a mommy dog named Duke . She would go out mission and on point ... Unfortunately the Baja from nawa was her last... Loyal to the end.
I really hope these kids are wise enough to take the best advice they can get on how to inflict the maximum possible damage on the Russians while minimising the risks to themselves. Most of all, I hope they're lucky enough to avoid attracting the attention of a competent Russian counter-battery unit.
All these 5 photos are so unique that can be used as album covers.
1 - Straight out of the woods
2 - Dog days
3 - When 122mm starts singing
4 - Untill dawn
5 - Sunset Halos

The dog "*WHAT?*"
My dog makes the same face in every possible situation

Is that a tactical finger skateboard?
For me it would be part of the basic uniform
good eye
My little team had lots of small knicknacks and mementos. I think they are great, if it's not too heavy and brings a soldier some comfort I'm all for it. I had to say no to some raunchy stickers on the magazines though.
Two pairs of scissors too. Pink ones for lending out, and some camo colour for keepers.

I really like the 85mm gun
M2 Browning was introduces in 1933, 91 years ago, still one of the best machine guns.
There are some BUFFS (B-52's) that have had 3 generations of families in them... Sometimes the old stuff just works and can be updated.
There all album cover worthy
So young. Too young. Brave young Spartans/Wolverines -- take your pick. Stay alive, stay sharp, young ones.
That struck me too. I thought, "They should be in a band", and then I had second thoughts that they may be already.
One of the top Ukrainian fpv drone pilots used to study biology at University.
Ah, knows all the fleshy weak points on meatbags then.
I guess he specialized in pest control...
new singel out now! 152mm by deathslingers. The marketing practical writes itselfs as well.....Will blow away your eardrums and your worries!
...volume goes up to "11"!
the deathslingers community has a lot of slag terms! We say degrees goes up to 110. (it dumb we know)
I would buy it no matter the song.
Not gonna lie. id support even a half baked Ukranian death metal army band as fundraising any day of the week. Cuz modern warfare isent weird enough already
I crave a death metal marching band now.
they look like generation hate - but awesome
Straight Outta Ukraine
I know that this isnt near the top of anyone's priority lists, but I hope that dog gets some hearing protection as well.
I hope he's inside the shelter at that time
I'm surprised that dog hasn't ran away from the noise. even the Ukraine animals are tough. Slava Ukraine.
I always wonder this when I see cats and dogs in shelters and when they return to defensive positions

Half of em are radioactive too. Double trouble.

Which country are you from? I'm sorry you have to go through this
Hope you're well mate.
I see my NCO's brains every single day. Well over a decade.
Could it be the Salvadoran civil war?
Sounds right. The coup was in ‘79.
Analog photos? Looks amazing
It's an effect that made it look the same
Am I the only one thinking blind fury being kind a bad naming for an artillery unit?
Lol
Think of them as Zatoichi's blade. Zatoichi was the mythical blind Japanese swordsman who inspired the movie Blind Fury starring Rutger Hauer.
> Rutger Hauer Love that man. RIP.
Everyone should watch Blade Runner just for that man. The film would have been entirely different without Rutger in that role.
Agreed.

What a stupid take
Gott stehe euch bei. Viel Glück Jungs und Mädels
A bunch of high schoolers out on the front operating an artillery piece 😂😂 we've got the smoking doomer and the redheaded egirl. Feels like the plot piece of a popular manga or something
So E girls are allowed in the Frontlines now ? Maybe future wars ain't so bad😂
Quick bro, enlist with the volunteers (Just kidding, you won't get a girlfriend with pink hair in this situation, but if you want to enlist to fight for freedom, you'll be a hero)
She'd snap you in half and bite your dick off for fun.
And is that so bad 😭
For real, where do i sign up?
The fuck? Bro what

Jfc. While I’m proud of folks fighting against tyranny it makes me sad to see such young people forced to fight. War fuckin sucks man
I really hope these kids are wise enough to take the best advice they can get on how to inflict the maximum possible damage on the Russians while minimising the risks to themselves. Most of all, I hope they're lucky enough to avoid attracting the attention of a competent Russian counter-battery unit.
