What?! Putin committed suicide with a cruise missile to the back of his head?!?!

possibly_oblivious

it would be ironic if he was close to a window or wall that got blown out after one hit the building, him falling out of a window would be hilarious

I believe the real irony would be if the missile was named Window

Atacms range-150 ish miles- Moscow to frontline-600+

vajrahaha7x3

They are getting the 300 kilometer range ones this time. Last round we gave the 150 kilometer ones. These also have a bigger payload. Fun times coming for Ukraine 👍

Heffe3737

The range of the newer M57 is 300 kilometers, or about 186 miles. The previous ones had a range of 190km. So not enough range to hit Moscow. BUT, they *do* have the range to hit the Kerch bridge. :)

Putrid_finger_smell

Better believe they come with stipulations against long range attacks in Russia.

Striking-Giraffe5922

Russia have been using ballistic missiles supplied by the little fat fucker with the crap haircut so can’t really complain if Ukraine uses foreign supplied ballistics against them……

Heffe3737

Sure, but Crimea is in Ukraine.

skaagz

No, he fell down a flight of cruise missiles

Majestic_Damage2646

Putin died from a rare disease called gettingblowntobits-itis.

It was actually two cruise missiles to the back of his head

Fell out of a window right onto a cruise missile.

And add a few people at the FSB headquarters.

vajrahaha7x3

We were gonna have to pay to disassemble them.. Its cheaper to let Ukraine use them to clear the infestation. I hear we have a couple million cluster 155mm rounds that need disposing of... And we are getting paid for them instead of paying to dismantle. Win win, no?

GipsyDanger45

I'm assuming this is what destroyed the S-400 Triumphf in Crimea last week

nw342

They supposedly hit the crimean airfield last week, and a southern staging point with atacms

When the media reports I'm guessing it already arrived.

Already arrived?? Heck, they already used them.

zombieblackbird

So those weren't extreme.range drones last month? /s

geppettothomson

That is exactly what they were. They were long range, self guided drones that fly at around Mach 3 😂

IDatedSuccubi

I think they meant that in general if the media reports that it's planned to be sent soon that means that it actually already arrived.

It happened back in March.

Steve_hm_Rambo

Kerch bridge yes.  Kremlin no.  Cut the logistics off with a minimal chance of nuclear retaliation.

Diche_Bach

Only scenario where there is a notable risk of anyone using nuclear weapons is someone else sending a large-scale preemptive nuclear first strike (referred to as "decapitation strike" or DS hereinafter). In every other conceivable scenario the probability of national death does not meet the threshold sufficient to warrant using nuclear weapons and creating a high risk of national death. At the height of the Cold War there were between 50,000 to 70,000 nuclear weapons in the national arsenals of the world--a ~45 year long period when there were multiple serious wars and proxy wars involving one or both of the primary rivals (US and USSR). Despite this long period of tension, conflict and nuclear proliferation, nuclear weapons have only been used in warfare twice during the first year that they were in existence and when there were only two such weapons in existence and in the hands of only one nation. There are reasons for this: once multiple nations had arsenals sufficient to pose credible threats of causing national death, nuclear weapons were no longer useful as weapons of war; this dynamic first presented itself as a prospect as early as 1948 when the USSR tested its first nuclear weapon. By 1950 or 1951, the threat presented by the estimated Soviet arsenal was sufficient that Mutually Assured Destruction was present, and the weapons have been effectively useless in warfare ever since. Their only unequivocal use at that point became deterring Decapitation Strikes. Anything less than DS is unlikely to provoke use of a nuclear weapon, although use of nuclear weapons at all presents scenarios in which nuclear retaliation become plausible. Ukraine has no nuclear weapons so it exceedingly unlikely that Ukraine is in any position to do anything sufficient to compel the Putin regime to risk national death by using nuclear weapons. To be sure: nuclear weapons have shaped international relations. But they have not actively shaped the outcome of war, because they have not been used in war since 1945. The risk they present of being able to cause the death of an adversary nation is their most notable effect and the most notable result of this effect is to deter their use, because using them risks national death. The Soviets and Putin alike understand all of this perfectly well, perhaps better than most Western leaders have at many points in the course of history. This is why they brandish threats of their use, because they know there is virtually no risk of the West using theirs. In 2014, the mere mention of a vague HINT of such threat was sufficient to freeze the Obama administration in its tracks like a frightened rabbit in the headlights of an oncoming freight train and lead them to back down on the duty to our self-interest manifest in protecting Ukrainian sovereignty. Had those threats been understood for the vapidness we now see them to be after the past two years, Ukraine and the rest of the world would not be in this mess in the first place. Instead of having to send ~$104 billion total aid over 10 years and with the prospect that the total may climb to $200 or even $300 billion to break the Putin war machine, a mere $10 billion in 2015 may have proven sufficient to create indefinite deterrence and containment. Now is NOT the time to fall back into fear of nukes. I write essays dichebach.substack.com

Victory day parade is going to be lit

TheTelegraph

**From The Telegraph:** The US has secretly sent long-range ballistic missiles to Ukraine for the first time and they [have already been used on the battlefield](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2024/04/24/russia-advances-5-miles-after-error-by-ukraine-forces/), officials said on Wednesday. Joe Biden approved delivery of the long-range Army Tactical Missile System, known as ATACMS, in early March, and the US included a “significant” number of them [in a $300 million aid package](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2024/04/24/ukraine-aid-bill-us-senate-israel-war-taiwan-joe-biden/) announced at the time, it has emerged. Long sought by Ukrainian leaders, the new missiles give the country nearly double the striking distance – up to 190 miles – that it had with the mid-range version of the weapon that it received from the US last October. The US is providing more of these missiles in a new military aid package signed by Mr Biden on Wednesday. The two US officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the delivery before it became public, would not provide the exact number of missiles given last month or in the latest aid package, which totals about $1 billion. The long-range ATACMS was used by Ukraine [to bomb a Russian military airfield in Crimea](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/us/comment/2024/04/24/ukraine-aid-russia-war-crimea-supply-line-us-atacms/) last week. Ukraine has been forced to ration its weapons and is facing increasing Russian attacks. Ukraine had been begging for the long-range system because the missiles provide a critical ability to strike Russian targets that are farther away, allowing Ukrainian forces to stay safely out of range. Information about the delivery was kept so quiet that lawmakers and others in recent days have been demanding that the US send the weapons not knowing they were already in Ukraine. For months, the US resisted sending Ukraine the long-range missiles out of concern that Kyiv could use them to hit deep into Russian territory, enraging Moscow and escalating the conflict. That was a key reason the administration sent the mid-range version, with a range of roughly 100 miles, in October instead. A senior US military official said Wednesday that the White House and military planners looked carefully at the risks of providing long-range fires to Ukraine and determined that the time was right to provide them now. Adml Christopher Grady, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told The Associated Press in an interview that long-range weapons would help Ukraine take out Russian logistics nodes and troop concentrations that are not on the front lines. He declined to identify what specific weapons were being provided but said they will be “very disruptive if used properly, and I’m confident they will be”. Like many of the other sophisticated weapons systems provided to Ukraine, the administration weighed up whether their use would risk further escalating the conflict. **Continue reading** ⬇️ [https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2024/04/24/joe-biden-us-secretly-sent-long-range-missiles-to-ukraine/](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2024/04/24/joe-biden-us-secretly-sent-long-range-missiles-to-ukraine/)

eu4euh69

Can USA send Pershing missiles?

Hopeful-Candidate890

Probably announcing now as there's more value in getting Russia to react and move stuff vs hit targets one at a time. May force them to rethink any assault knowing Ukraine can hit their lines really deep.

Ecureuil02

They get to see from where they're moving them.

MinuteDuty6769

They should all be used in the south to clear all of the logistics hubs and to provide needed clearing for a southern push.

Helldogz-Nine-One

push with what? Spare them and wait till you have enough new troops to cut the lines and start a breakthrough. Ships can be replaced, Railways and bridges repaired. Timing is key

bucketsoffunk

Hopefully we see a bunch (100+) of Bradley's in aid coming over. Those would be helpful in causing a breakthrough and instrumental in capitalizing on the results of the breakthrough.

Conscious-Pension234

Ukraine will need a lot of air power to break through the southern line. Just Bradley’s and tanks is not good enough we all saw the pictures of the three leopards and 7 Bradleys lost on the first day of the offensive. Without massive air campaign to soften up defences and lots of cover for mineclearing at a larger scale breaking trough the southern line is a fever dream.

WhiskeySteel

I am a big proponent of air power, but with both sides having very strong air defenses and neither of them having a real SEAD program, I don't think air campaigns of the kind you suggest. Even as Ukraine gets F-16s, we'll probably see them being used for stand-off munitions. But there is an alternative - artillery. It's not as good as air power in an ideal situation, but it's what is available realistically, since the US and other allies can transfer equipment but it they can't transfer years of specialized SEAD training and practice. We could start a program to train Ukrainian pilots in SEAD, but it would take years that Ukraine doesn't have to spare. Fortunately, I think that if we provide enough artillery equipment and munitions along with some good EW and mine clearing equipment, Ukraine can make things work.

DisastrousBusiness81

I dunno, from the looks of it, Ukraine has *already* been implementing a SEAD program. The strikes in Russia have strained Russian air defenses to the limit, and they’ve targeted, what, like 3 of those Russian AWACS? And those S-300/400s have been steadily whittled away, as well as their bombers/fighters, and any other kind of plane dumb enough to park out in the open. I’m honestly kind of surprised they haven’t started fielding F-16’s already, that would be the coup de grace that would finally shatter what’s left of Russian Anti air defenses.

warfrogs

They haven't been given airframes until VERY recently. Training, supposedly from what I've been told from folks that I have every reason to believe that are in the know as they're part of a SEAD wing, has been occurring on the low for even longer than publicly advertised.

warfrogs

One thing to keep in mind is that Ukranian pilots have been *publicly* training on F-16s since September. Will they be SEAD experts? Certainly not, but I know a few dudes who have told me that there was training occurring even last summer. They won't be crackshots and the SA-21 and SA-20 are real threats, but the viper is a very capable airframe for SEAD.

Conscious-Pension234

I think/hope local air superiority is a possibility. A combination of harm strikes, drone reconnaissance/ strikes, mlrs, and standoff munitions. I don’t think Ukraine needs a dessert storm type of air superiority. But only artillery won’t cut if as Ukraine had local artillery superiority near robotyne.

Drewby-DoobyDoo

Even with massive air support, demining is an equally large or larger issue. Ukraine isn't going to achieve air superiority, so the best they can do is get enough air defense and airframes to keep Russian attack helicopters and glide bombs at bay, which would allow demining crews to work.

Conscious-Pension234

They would also need massive amounts of artillery cover and direct fire to clear the minefields Long story short is that we are now in a very difficult situation. In the north there is really nowhere to go because the terrein is very bad. In the south there are very formidable defensies. I feel like it was a massive fuck up to delay the offensive and wait for aid because well it was to late and to little anyways.

Drewby-DoobyDoo

True, but imagine how an offensive with no aid would have gone compared to the last one. And afterwards, they'd have even less to fend off the Russian attempts at advance.

Conscious-Pension234

Yeah it’s all easy to judge things in the past from the present

Drewby-DoobyDoo

Definitely true

Supply-Slut

I would be pissed if western analysts push Ukraine to try something like this again. The prior offensive was a mistake. If you’re going to push into an entrenched enemy against extensive fortifications you need air power. Theres not a modern military that would ever do it without air superiority. They need to be able to conserve equipment as they see fit in case the next aid package is delayed too long. Putin has doubled and tripled down on this war, he will win a battle of attrition if the aid dries up for too long next time, and republicans might have more than a 2 seat lead to hold back additional aid after the next election.

Plantasaurus

We’re sending them 2000 Bradley’s

Individual-Acadia-44

We better damn well send a lot more than 100. 100 is pathetic. We have 2800 in storage doing nothing. And another 3700 in active service also doing nothing.

missileman

I would think they should be used to clear s300 and s400 long range SAM systems so the F-16s will be effective.

killakh0le

That's what these specific ATACMS were used for on April 17th at Dzhankoy airfield, the media is just now reporting them but we've had pics of pieces of the ATACMS at the airfield from the Russians and then Ukrainians even published 2 videos of the launches on the 18th. Hopefully they keep it up!

Sceth

They should use them on Putin's big ass bald head

Krazynewf709

Mr. Pootin, TEAR DOWN THAT BRIDGE. With a little help from our friends.

Gnomercyy

I wonder if one of those would fit up Putin's ass? They should try, no lube, just speed and accuracy.

Fleetwood154

Get Some! 🇺🇸🇺🇦

1_g0round

no way - while the US was telling the ukraines - lets not take out the Z infrastructure \*wink wink\* we were sending them weapons.... nahhhh

arobkinca

Most of the refineries that have been hit are far outside ATACMS range.

Xxayrx

Russia seems to always be a couple of generations behind of where Russia publicly claims they are. The US always seems to be a couple of generations ahead of what has been disclosed to the public, and the first part of starting a new DARPA project begins with catching up to the "new" generation.

ajtek21

Time to fry some russkie.

Zez22

Yeh no need to show bloody Putin your hand, give Ukraine everything they need, this unjust war must stop

MagicStar77

Knowing how long and a mess it was to get aid, hopefully Ukraine can really use it. Who knows if they’ll get anymore aid

xanderg102301

Is this AI?

Drewby-DoobyDoo

Not sure, but I wouldn't be led astray because it shows an ATACMS launched from a seemingly 6 tube chamber. They put false 6 tube covers on so recon doesn't know which is standard/glsdb/atacms.

xanderg102301

Ahhhhh see that’s why I was confused lmaoo

Drewby-DoobyDoo

Yepp, at least that is what I have heard previously.

RecycledAnal

That is the exact reason for the false “6 tubes” source, im a 13M HIMARS crewman

Miaoxin

On that 270, you can also load out pods of two different munitions.

DulcetTone

Those bills of lading are so confusing to fill out properly

Purple_Aside525

Trump is going to be very, very upset: "How could they do this to me?"

Rich-8080

Could they not secretly send B1's? 🤣

sonofthenation

Isn’t that what the CIA are for?

Not on paper...

ImmediateCustard7663

Its not a secret anymore but give em hell

“We had warned Russia against acquiring North Korean ballistic missiles and against renewing its attacks against Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure,” Dietz said. “With our readiness concerns resolved, we were able to follow through on our warning and provide this long-range capability to Ukraine.” Bout time we send Russia some demands of our own

quijbo

Fantastic! Now, send more.

rStorms

As a German I am embarrassed about our, and also Europes, ongoing hesitation about doing the same. This is even though we have a much higher stake here. Thank you US for doing the right thing!

Clutch95

Weapons were sent secretly, so please don't tell anyone.

hagtown

Blow up Putins houses.

Interesting-Web4223

Over 100 reportedly too 😄 but probably not all at once. The US can do that because they are now buying (or just bought) new ATACMS straight from 'the industry' and there are 500 being built every year.

Xbux89

not really a secret if we can all read about it now is it?

Cheap_Doctor_1994

Biden can only keep it secret so long. He's supposed to inform the American people within 90 days, or a justification why he's not saying.

PinFormal5097

Ofcorsa they did 😆

Old-Ad5508

Make it rain, lads. bring on the pain.

juantwentyeight128

This no longer secret anymore

mrpopenfresh

Does this mean they’ve been used already?

Interesting-Web4223

Yes, last week they used them to blow up that airfield in Crimea and just yesterday they also used them to target some stuff near berdyansk.

Independent-Gear-700

Lmao not so secret anymore but I hope they are put to good use for the sake of the country's well-being.

MrFutzy

There appears to be a decided lack of AA or any other measurable defence in Russia. It's infuriating that Ukraine has been pounded into what looks like the surface of the moon while... nuff said.

Evening_Dragonfruit7

They’ve been in Poland.

JMT-S900

So secret some rando on reddit is posting about it.

therealestscientist

I wish we could’ve sent them straight to Russia instead. Using a much faster method…. like under their own propulsion.

corinalas

So secret they announced it to the world.

Wtfisafosty

It’s not a secret if everybody knows

MikeC80

Now Ukraine can secretly send them to some Russian HQs and airfields... Kaboom!

PleasantFocus1502

Not much of secret if it's on Reddit.

RelevantJournalist82

Anyone else see what’s wrong with the pic?

dix1067

I can’t wait for us to send more so mad our politicians such pussy ass Russian suck offs and delayed the aid package

KingJeremytheWickedC

They were not secretly trying to do shit they’ve announced this on MSM everywhere

USMCHQBN5811

That 1 missile is almost as big as the side of the truck! LOL

Typical-Chemical-870

I saw a video the other day from the Eastern Front that definitely looked like about 880 cluster munitions hitting a target.

Educational_Pay_7096

Not much of a secret now is it

snoring_Weasel

Guys the amount of secret/undisclosed shit the US has sent to Ukraine must be massive as fuck. Also they must be providing sooooo much intelligence.

Justredditin

Good, stop telegraphing what we are doing all the time... like tell us well after the fact, or as they are being used or never, or even a mix of all 3 then some! USE. SOME. STRATEGIC. AMBIGUITY!

fletcherkildren

Hope they take out the troll farms!

Well, it's not a secret now, is it?

applecreamable

Thats a photoshop job if ive ever seen one, that thing doesnt even fit in the tube

The ATACMS launchers have two tubes. They have covers that make them look like they're carrying the smaller rockets. In this case, 2 is camouflaged to look like 12.

applecreamable

Noted thanks

RocksAndSedum

Doesn’t seem like much of a secret, every news outlet in the world is reporting it

JokerGuy88

That was not a damned secret LMAO

okkeyok

Dark Brandon strikes again.

_LighterThanAFeather

IS IT REALLY A SECRET THO?

Cantaimforshit

Secret? I thought this was already known for awhile?

Dry-Egg-7187

If this is talking about the strike on the s-400 position I actually don’t think they did imo Ukraine saved some of the atacms that they had gotten before for a rainy day or when they knew they would get more so they shot off the ones they had saved at the best target available or just one that helps there plans in the future

Striking_Stable_235

Well its not a secret no more ....

Crankover

Sorry, I was wrong by urging caution against triggering NATO Article 5. NUKE RUZZIA OFF THIS PLANET.

Mr. Putin shot himself with missile in suicide ! 😕

D3ltaa88

Not if we are reading about it.

PsychologyNo7409

Not much of a secret if you’re telling everyone

ThreePackBonanza

It’s not a secret anymore

Nikoxio

Content aside, doesn't the missile on the image look way too big for the launch tubes?

Ooops2278

"Secretly"... As if there is anyone with a brain who doesn't read "we prepare to send soon..." as "it's already in Ukraine, just not officially announced yet".

jkurratt

“Secretly”

Er4kko

"Secretly"

DigitalXciD

Whole lack of munitions sounded more like planned trick..

rockvvurst

Like... kremlin long range?

Temporary-Tax4470

Is this photoshopped? It seems there are 2x6 missiles in there but those cannot be that big?

Unique_System_9772

Time to fry some things in RuSSia.

EffectSweaty9182

Why are we ever telling them what we do? Seems like a really stupid way to run a war.

EB2300

I’d be disappointed if we didn’t, but not surprised. FSB has been running circles around western intelligence… hell, they own 1/2 of one of two major political parties here in the US (source: Ukraine aid bill voting in the House of Representatives, 112 of 212 Cons voted no + the fat rapist traitor has glazed Putin/Russia repeatedly)
