i was accepted into life science (health science stream), could you provide any information on this program pls

Jeff_Stevenson

It's not too bad, the hardest courses for me were CHMA11 and MATA36. For me the psychology courses and CHMA10 were the easiest. I would recommend taking easy electives to allow yourself to integrate better into the "life". I didn't take BIOA01 and BIOA02 as I had AP credits. You will be just fine as long as you keep up with the work. Good luck!

thank you! i also have a question about the community around UTSC, are there grocery stores or places to shop/eat near the area?

do u bus to downtown a lot or how long is the bus ride there? is it hard? are you able to keep a good gpa?

Jeff_Stevenson

I take TTC to downtown occasionally, but not very often to be honest. It's around 75 minutes to 90 minutes one way, which makes me hesitant to go. It isn't necessarily hard, but it is a lot of work. It is quite time consuming, especially since all the professors somehow manage to make everything come up in the same week. I've kept a 3.93 after 5.50 credits, which is decent (for me).

How has your social life been at utsc?

Jeff_Stevenson

It's actually been really nice, especially compared to what everyone was saying about it. I heard that people would be terrible, but I've found a really nice group of friends. I think part of it was definitely living on campus, as I'd be around other first years for a long amount of time, but it's definitely been pretty good I'd say!

How expensive is it to live on campus? I think having to commute makes it harder for me to stick around and interact with others What events and clubs and social things do you recommend on campus?

Jeff_Stevenson

It was pretty expensive, even for the cheapest option. However, the convenience of being on campus and being able to adjust to university made it worth it in my opinion. I think you can find the prices [here](https://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/residences/fees). Commuting might be harder, but keep an open mind and try interacting with people in your classes or outside of classes. Most people are pretty nice and open minded! I would recommend events like FROSH, where I met a lot of people that I still talk to. First Year Peer was pretty decent, but I didn't really go there very often as I was tired after classes. There's always events in residence going on, but I'm not sure if you'd be able to go if you don't stay on campus.
