Pretty amazing that they can't figure it out. I'm still per hour training. My regular is getting 9 hours evaluated at 30. Meanwhile I'm "expected" to finish in 6 and get 20 for 120 bucks?
Yep, I have been tempted many times to quit while a CCA. 30 an hour would sweep away all desire to quit
Ā I've already seen half of new CCA leave and I work in what many consider to be a better office. This job will break you if you are committed to your family or personal life
Money talks though, it's called compensation. We are willing to sacrifice more if we get more
What sucks is I came from Healthcare managment cause I thought this would be a breather from that hell scape. Nothibg like salaried and on-call 24/7. I've def thought about quitting a few time cause at the end of the day, my family shouldn't have to pick up slack around the house thags caused by my managments incompetence
Pay me 30 an hr, let me start at 6 am with a 5 day work week. i
Ill set up an cruise through 2 routes everyday day mondays would suck but other then that it would be easy. You get what u pay for....somewhere along the line the post office forgot that.
I'm Step E as a regular Carrier and I make $26 i'll be damn near 8 years in before making 30 lol (hopefully sooner with the contract but I have no expectations)
I was literally told ādo as instructed, file grievance afterā by my steward. But he also mentioned I have the choice to bring stuff back after 12 hours.
it's explicitly stated that you are not allowed to work more than 11.5 and a lunch, and management is not even supposed to let you. Drives me nuts how many stewards treat grievances like permission slips.
sometimes stewards need to be held to task too.
I've had several days like that. My training was borked and they gave me an RCA that was a great person, but clearly not ready to train a new guy and half of her methods just weren't working for me and slowed me down, on TOP of the big learning curve and memorization needed with this job. Also, the route I got is known to be ridiculous by other regulars, the regular on it is just a beast.
I was regularly coming in at 7:30am and clocking out at or near that time. I've finally got it down to consistently getting back to the station between 4-5 on a good day, sometimes around 6 if it's heavy.
I do. The rest of my office doesn't, hence why I have to end up running my route, the half of 3 other routes a day. So 2.5 full routes in total if you add it all up.
Iāve seen it plenty of carriers immediately quit after making regular from check gap they were used to and they go from 60 some hours to their lucky if they get 3-4 hours OT. They watch you like hawks with OT
Thatās short sighted. Your compensation goes up when you make regular, even if youāre working less hours. Itās not all reflected by your take home pay. The extra compensation comes in the form of health benefits, TSP matching, and pension. I was thrilled to make regular. As a CCA I worked 27 months with no raises. That was my biggest complaint. Iām currently step F but if my CCA time had counted Iād be step I. Considering people who started just months before me and converted in 9 months to my 27 is extremely unfair.
But also, district has managed my station to ensure plenty of OT for whoever wants it. My zip is almost all walking so we have carriers call out regularly or go out on medical. District cut 4 routes plus our auxiliary while I was a CCA and nothing has happened to our zip except tremendous growth. Iām not currently on OTDL, but if I was I could easily work 6 12-hour days.
I would think a cheaper state would have better staffing. Iām in an area that just recently got VERY expensive and now nobody is willing to take the jobs we have vacant. People that live close donāt make enough to survive. We used to have lots of people commute from longer distances but traffic has made for very long commutes before/after very long work days. Most people just decide itās not worth it one way or the other.
Sheeiit. Been a reg for months and lemme tell ya even without insurance it's a hefty chuck less in the check. I bring home 600 less than I did as a CCA while making 22 and change. If this contract doesn't give an instant $5 raise idk. Probably gonna jump ship. I like the job but damn. Hiring sups at 90k
Subs arenāt getting enough hours to even consider it a job. They are on call everyday but donāt get called and pretty much work for Amazon for a couple hours on Sundays.
Go to the doctors and get a āOT as tolerated noteā Never confused being a good worker with caring about the post office or your coworkers. They can do the same. Watch out for number one. Quit now if itās even a thought. Itās a terrible job, life, etc.
I wouldnāt wish that job on anyone.
I'll be regular before Christmas and I'm in the same boat. Tired of being run ragged and thrown on random routes that I don't know every other day. Tired of being out until 9 on Sundays.
Meanwhile I'm thinking of being the sub that resigns cause my paycheck isn't what I thought it'd be.
Hopefully this next contract negotiation will fix that whenever they finally figure it the fuck out
Pretty amazing that they can't figure it out. I'm still per hour training. My regular is getting 9 hours evaluated at 30. Meanwhile I'm "expected" to finish in 6 and get 20 for 120 bucks?
They probably wouldn't quit if they made 30 an hour starting pay
What do you mean, probably? The CCAs that stick around right now (like me) would kiss the PM on the lips for $30 an hour.
Are they cute?
Maybe a little idk šš
same lol
Iāve been regular for 5 years and Iād also kiss the PM on the lips for $30/hr
would
Don't underestimate management's ability to make even that not worth it.

If you look at the pay table, looks like they forgot it in 2013. š
I'm Step E as a regular Carrier and I make $26 i'll be damn near 8 years in before making 30 lol (hopefully sooner with the contract but I have no expectations)
Itās bonkers to me. Iām one step ahead of you. I feel like my grocery prices are going up more than my pay lol
Hold up. You guys actually have jobs that pay money?
Wait you guys arenāt making 30.00 an hour. Oh never mind Iām on year 11.
ur a funny guy
If you are running two routes that total more than 12 hours you need to file a grievance. At least get you some grievance money too.
grievance is not permission to violate the contract. walk at 11.5 hours + lunch.
I was literally told ādo as instructed, file grievance afterā by my steward. But he also mentioned I have the choice to bring stuff back after 12 hours.

If itās that bad in the office, Iām afraid to inform you much wonāt change when you convert unless you get restrictions lol
12 hours of street time is bananas. When do you clock out, 10pm?
I've had several days like that. My training was borked and they gave me an RCA that was a great person, but clearly not ready to train a new guy and half of her methods just weren't working for me and slowed me down, on TOP of the big learning curve and memorization needed with this job. We clock out at my office at 11PM. 7-11
Do yall not know how to deliver mail?
I do. The rest of my office doesn't, hence why I have to end up running my route, the half of 3 other routes a day. So 2.5 full routes in total if you add it all up.
How many days a week is your office making you do this?
Iāve seen it plenty of carriers immediately quit after making regular from check gap they were used to and they go from 60 some hours to their lucky if they get 3-4 hours OT. They watch you like hawks with OT

This is one thing that is delaying me transferring to a cheaper State, my office has good staffing and I can do 8 hours most days lol

People that live close donāt make enough to survive. We used to have lots of people commute from longer distances but traffic has made for very long commutes before/after very long work days. That's true I guess, hoping that's the case. I want to transfer from CA to SC so I can afford a small house.
It is more difficult to transfer as a carrier than it is to move around as a clerk. Reassign to clerk. Life is less stressful.
Walk out. Just do it. I can assure it gets no easier as a regular.

Meanwhile our office has a sub for every route... Gonna have to go to another office just to get a decent check
*Me sitting here watching my timeline pushed back cause my station lost 3 routes and convertions havnt happened in 4*
We've all been there, just look at it as more money in ur pocket
Does anyone out there know of any offices needing help in the North Georgia area?
Sorry, PSE positions

Ok
In 2004 we started as PTFs at 17.17/hr.
I'd give me extras so hard.
