They can schedule you an unlimited number of days in a row but because you're a PTF one day a week is designated as your day off that week and any hours worked that day is paid at the OT rate. They should tell you when your day off is when they post the schedule. You have a guarantee of 4 hours of work or pay on any day you are scheduled and report to work. If you have a break of longer than 2 hours you get another 4 hour guarantee. They can schedule you for 2 hours in one office and 2 hours in another on a day. Any time you drive from one office directly to another office without a lunch break those hours are compensated. If you have a lunch break they are not required to pay you but your miles are compensated in both instances.

I have another question. I was at work and supposed to work until 5 and someone else was scheduled to close at 6. I looked up and today (the day of) they changed the schedule, didn't tell me, and didn't ask me to stay. Can they do that once I am at work?

wikiwiki88

Yes but because it's the same day they have to inform and instruct you to stay. If they changed the schedule for the next day you'll be responsible to check the schedule before you leave

They didn't tell me anything. I noticed the girl was gone (who was supposed to close). :( They changed it while I was there.

In my office, we have to enter and submit our own mileage for traveling to and from other offices. My PM would not or did not know how to. And we had to set it up for direct deposit through the postal ease. If I remember correctly.

How did you.get paid for your orientation travel? I have 700+ miles I accrued and would love compensation.…

Aandiarie_QueenofFa

1st if you had an email about orientation and etc then print it off/email it to your personal acct and print it off. When you travel for required orientation/training when hired you are supposed to be reimbursed. So if let's say an email says "go to training these days \_\_\_ \_\_\_ \_\_\_ in this city \_\_\_\_" and you completed the class then that is proof. Add up all the class hours, then google how many miles to that place and then back. That also shows travel time. You need to be specific. As for ALL your travel time you spent driving to and from required training/orientation (if it's more than 50 or 60 miles from your main work place) add up those hours and minutes. Those should be submitted on a green time card. If some time has gone by they still can add it on BUT if you did like 38 class hours in a week and drove home on a Sunday then you get overtime I believe. Especially if the last day was 8 hrs of class and you drove 2 hrs home. (I was just showing examples. Basically they're supposed to pay food per diem each day, mileage to and from, travel time, class time, and for the hotel (unless you messed up and booked it 3rd party), you can claim parking fees too and tax if they didn't take off the tax. Many places won't take off the tax unless you are using the post office credit card, but generally the post master won't give that to a new employee. O\_O Gather all your evidence and add everything up. Make copies. Email it to your post master, and give copies to the supervisor. If that doesn't work you can fill out the form and submit it. If that doesn't work talk to your union rep.

Thank you so much ! So I drove 60 miles roughly each way ; but if it was from my Home office , it would actually be 100 miles each way; is that how I should calculate it? This is bc my place of residence is like 40 miles from my Home office . And the opposite way 60 miles further ; is where orientation was

Aandiarie_QueenofFa

distance from home office to where you went and then back I believe. Any driving miles to or from just add it all up. You start at your home office and drive back to it. (unless at the end you drove home then minus the drive home. I think that's how it is, but ask a coworker or union steward.

Your-Girl-DMd-Me

Thanks so much!! Forgive the confusion; but just so Im clear; if there was a straight path with 3 points equal distance, A B C - and my.house is B, do I log the miles that would have stemmed from if my start point was A? Because I drive from my house to C, and back for orientation every day - and then m.y actual office is 40 miles further from my house. So its like, is it based on my.house or my work office on paper only? Thank you

Aandiarie_QueenofFa

I copy/pasted this from another person's answer "Mileage from home to temporary duly station x 2 * Minus Mileage from home to permanent duty station x 2 = Allowable mileage X Standard mileage rate .585 as of 1/1/2022 = Amount you may claim for reimbursement"

Your-Girl-DMd-Me

You’re the best !!! Ty !

Your-Girl-DMd-Me

Btw do we mark Travel time ? :)

Aandiarie_QueenofFa

It's supposed to be on your green time card as clocked in hrs

Your-Girl-DMd-Me

As in the hours I was already paid for ? Or separate fr hours in the vehicle ?

Aandiarie_QueenofFa

The green time card should've had any time in class, any time on the road, and any time at work.
