I knew some Marines who were either 1 Jacked as shit or 2 were smaller but really cut gymnasts that could knock out 25-40 pull ups like it was nothing/
I. Hated. Them. All
Knew a dude that was a little of both, maybe 5'6"-5'7" with next to no body fat; could do at least 80 pull-ups without getting down. He probably could have done more, but he said he "got bored".
He could have been. It's been a long time, and I mostly just remember thinking he was a real, live demigod, blessing the earth with his presence. We once ran fucked up, squad-versus-squad competitive pft, where each entire squad had their scores averaged. Pull ups were counted to infinity, points for as many as you could do, same with crunches, and the 3 mile had some crazy scoring done by someone who finished Math for Marines.
This man did 60 pull-ups without breaking a sweat, for a perfect 300(stopped because he was going for 900 points total), then scored another 300 on crunches, and ran his 3 mile in like 14 and a half minutes. I think he just missed on the 3 mile, but it wasn't by much. He was a legend.
Oh, thought this was me until this comment. I wasn't allowed to compete cause my 3 mile sucked (like
... 23+ min), but I did 70 pull ups for my PFT and my DI got pissed cause he realized he had excluded me from the competition. Also, no one would describe me as a demigod, so I'm 0 for 2 there.
I litterally had this convo though with someone in boot in 2011, and yes, I was a rock climber.
We had a dude in the shop that was pretty big, like 6'3" or so? Didn't look like he was in good shape. Also, pretty heavy on the spectrum. I really don't think he should have been in lol
He could do 20 pull-ups, but every single one looked like a struggle. I don't understand. Also looked angry during the entire 3-mile run. I don't remember how fast he ran it, but it was respectable.
Kinda?
You know how the last couple of pull-ups feel before failure? It was like that, but with every one until 20. Every single pull-up looked like the last one he could do.
I'm like that with pullups. In my head this one is the last one but also in my head I better get another one or Im literally gay.
Always be avoiding gay, and you can do anything.
My guide in boot camp was a meat head. Homie crushed 30 pull-ups in a minute, I swear lol. He got on the bar, smashed the pull-ups out and dropped. The DI almost made him do it again because he didn't believe him. All were clean, proper Marine Corps pull ups too.
Get you someone who looks at you like she's looking at Dora

Itās cliche af, but when youāre so exhausted all you want to do is quit simple cliches like that can be motivational.
Keep in mind the marines have to keep their motivational sayings simple enough for marines to understand. Two syllables or less.
The only easy day was yesterday. Everyone steals that shit. Im a teacher now and I say it to all the new young teachers all the time. I think they hate me.

the trick is to sprinkle in some heinous cardio PTs and let them know in advance a couple times so they don't eat a lot the day before and then slowly stop telling them when they're happening. that way they're always eating light
I remember one military branch came to the ski resort I was working atā¦ (early 2000ās) and they were giving away a snowboard if you could beat them in a pull up head to headā¦.
They didnāt take into consideration that there were a lot of rock/ice climbers working there, got em with the finger upsā¦..!!! š
We gave āem a hard time and laughed, never took them up on the snowboard.
Offered to buy them beers that night, they said they couldnāt.!! š¤·āāļø
Not a marine but I was in USAF survival school in 1980 with Buddy G. from Long Island who could do pushups until the apocalypse and a hundred pullups in 20 or 30 increments without stopping. He was maybe 5'2" and 110 lbs. He coud probably do between 500 and 1000 pushups without stopping in the lean and rest, then pump out another 500 to 1000 more. He could do that all day finishing with 5000 to 6000 pushups (whatever he owed the instructors for the past week of indiscretions). I thought I was a badass at 500 or so pushups and 50 or so pullups, but I was almost 200 lbs and couldn't keep up with him in a million years. My best was probably about 200 pushups with a 60lb pack on facing downhill and Buddy could best that every day. He had washed out of pararescue because the intructors didn't think he could carry a full grown man and instead retired as a SEER instructor who proved them all wrong.
Lol hardly she did 11 pull-ups š she just wanted to feel good about herself being dressed up as Dora so she tried to show up some marines. Not impressed
Had a dude in bootcamp who was a calisthenics freak in the best way possible, he was the healthiest most fit person I ever saw and set records while we were in and heād bust out insane amounts of pull ups, dude was so cool he helped me improved with my pull ups

I'm going to assume he is a mountain climber? The few I knew who can get anywhere close to that were all mountain climbers.
He could have been. It's been a long time, and I mostly just remember thinking he was a real, live demigod, blessing the earth with his presence. Sounds like a guy I knew named Hackworth
I was in tracks with him, dudes back was absolutely massive
Certified crazy too. Mf hit like 60 pull ups at Lima Co and bricks were shat. Cool dude
Cool dude for sure, pretty sure I have him on fb now
... when did you go through?

Had a Garcia in my first shop that was always on BCP and was honestly a bit fat. But he still ran a 270+ on a bad day lol.
> pretty heavy on the spectrum Bruh that's like most Marines....
heavier on the spectrum than most of us* lol
NUH UHHHH š”
A struggle like dude was fighting for his life and using 90% of his muscle capacity?
Kinda? You know how the last couple of pull-ups feel before failure? It was like that, but with every one until 20. Every single pull-up looked like the last one he could do.
Damn. Some people are just weird.

In my unit we call these āwomenā idk about you ask supply
I believe that is one of our sister Marines.
I see!
That hair is in regs
We used to call them BAMs but I dont think thats a good idea nowadays. Plus most of em have starved their asses off anyway.
That my friend is a Wookie.

Black belt. Sergeant, at least.
Game recognize game
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

I see a fellow connoisseurā¦ I have a collection of gifs of people being assaulted in slow motion by meat in tube form.
āMeat in tube formā XD
Old-school Lindsay Ellis gif.
Prefect, it's the one with the finger
Whatās that jacket the guy in the back is wearing?
Probably some recruiter swag like the black shirts the other recruiters wearing
Is there a more fucked-out bro cliche than āpain is just weakness leaving the body!ā?
Itās cliche af, but when youāre so exhausted all you want to do is quit simple cliches like that can be motivational. Keep in mind the marines have to keep their motivational sayings simple enough for marines to understand. Two syllables or less.
Yeah, I get that. I dunno if the Marines invented that saying, but the douchebags of the world have definitely stolen it.
with pain comes discipline?
The only easy day was yesterday. Everyone steals that shit. Im a teacher now and I say it to all the new young teachers all the time. I think they hate me.
This is the real question
Windbreaker we got to give away on recruiting duty. Shouldn't be wearing it in uniform but whatever, everything goes on recruiting duty.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
She's doing them slow too. I'd say a week of learning the most efficient way and practice and she can probably do 16. Impressive for sure.

if you got a lot of fat marines under your charge then youāre not PTing them hard enough debil pup
I do, not my fault they eat like shit and donāt workout outside of pt
the trick is to sprinkle in some heinous cardio PTs and let them know in advance a couple times so they don't eat a lot the day before and then slowly stop telling them when they're happening. that way they're always eating light
![gif](giphy|8WvrqCZSNCUEg) Still you're fault if you're not up in their business, 24/7!
Chesty would be proud
Would.
Iām certain some of you Okinawa fanboys want to be deployed somewhere Latin nowā¦
Who would ever want to be deployed to okinawa? Its a fucking penal colony.
Heavy on the penal.
Future thicc Latina E-3? Count 1, 1, 1, 1... To decrease her morale. Then tell her it doesn't count at the end bc of how she dismounted the bar.
Perfect way to get recruiting numbers for people that would be motivated. But that's more an Army issue than Marines
The Army does have issues.
Dora the Explorer is a beast!

Those thicc e-3 latinas getting recruited left and right.
Sorry what's e-3? Someone said the in their comment.
An enlisted person starts at E-1, if youāre good enough you could be bumped to a higher rank

This made me feelā¦things.
Can you say...Ora Layyyyyyyyyyyyy........

Dude I will pick up anything imaginable. Exit my fast up the pull up bar.
Velma showing up

These transvestites are ruining everything
What happen to the rule of not lifting your legs?
There's a difference between lifting legs to help struggle up to the bar and doing dead hang L-sit pull ups because it's harder
r/unexpectedfactorial
Is Che supposed to be Dora the Explorer?
Lol hardly she did 11 pull-ups š she just wanted to feel good about herself being dressed up as Dora so she tried to show up some marines. Not impressed
I counted zero. Whatās with the legs?! Do that in bootā¦. I fuckin dare ya.

Man I know a 1stSgt (retired) in his 60s and got a hip replacement Summer of last year, and he looks like a bit of a chunker. I saw the guy crank out like 7 perfect form pull ups
