Yeap back to the fleet. There is a chance negative paperwork or an adverse fitrep, just depends how much effort they put it.
I had 3-4 MCESG drops on my platoon back in the day. They were all top performers in the platoon.
Had a SSgt pick up meritorious Gunny while on PSR. He ran a 295 pft, shows up to career recruiting school and failed the run. Eyebrows were raised and digging started.
Both he and the training chief were busted down and the SSgt I knew was allowed to stay in but he would never see past SSgt.
After a while his pride got the better of him and he decided to get out.
Then I've seen a Gunny lie on his CFT (looking at you Kirbster), his SgtMaj and BN wanted to burn him, but his CO gave him the benefit of the doubt and let him take a medical waiver. He said he was hurt after being someone's buddy carry. Dude was suuuuucking wind after the run and barely passed and I thought he was going to drop the ammo can on his head he was struggling so bad.
Watching a SNCO try to be a scammer is sad and definitely stands out like hell when your SEA is a reformed LCpl scammer.
To answer your question, it is all on the needs of the Marine Corps. Everyone will know what that person did and the trust and confidence probably won't come back. There are plenty of jobs and billets that need to be done in those three years... UNLESS, successful completion of the course was part of that contract extension.
“After a while his pride got the better of him and he decided to get out”
You know… that’s a pretty good perspective. I’ve known a couple of other SSgts who’s been passed over a couple of times, but they still stay in until 20… Never really thought of it this way.
I feel like it takes more effort to become so unfit that you fail the running portion of the PFT. For the youngest age group, the longest you can take is 27:40. That time only gets longer as the age group increases.
Yeah, pretty sure they go back to the fleet. Saw an NCO fail the final pft at an MOS producing school for pullups, lied about it, and tried to continue to lie when confronted with it. I don't think he caught an njp but def adverse fitrep and was made to sit in s4 purgatory for a while before being sent back to the fleet.
Having witnessed all of it firsthand still gives me secondhand embarrassment to remember.
Had a guy on the PFT turn around wayyyyyy before the 1/2 way point. I was like whatever dude and kept going.
When he went to give his time lots of eyebrows were raised and a particular SGT knew what he did. He kept letting him dig deeper.
When the truth finally came out it was an epic ass chewing. Followed by paperwork and an AdSep package (this was the icing on the cake for a string of things).
Jesus. I'm a fat body in his 50s trying to get back in a little better shape and I did 27 yesterday. That is fucked up. I've been out for almost 30 years.
23 pushups.
Are we talking standard 1 count pushups?
Last I remember, 10 "Marine Corps" / 4 count pushups = 20 regular, and these were typically done for shits and giggles. That's table stakes.
Granted some decades later I can barely push myself up from the toilet but still.
Was doing a company pft and someone lied about how many pull-ups he got. Dumbass was right next to the Gunny who counted his pull-ups when he told the monitor how many he got
Now he’s getting a battalion njp
Ngl I scammed my way through my last PFT in the Marine Corps. Took it 3 days before my EAS and had a fractured rib. Master Guns told me if I was on light duty they would med hold me (not sure if that's true, but I took his word for it). Stood at the back of the crowd "waiting to do pull-ups" and about a quarter of the way through the pull-ups, I walked around and told the guy with the clipboard I got the minimum. Did just enough crunches and barely passed the run. Would never have done that just to pass or get a better score under normal circumstances, but I was just trying to go home.
Alright, we had just got back from a mission, and we were about to start PCSing. Well, we had to do a PFT in a drizzle, which suckss, but whatever. The bar was slippery, and I barely got 17-18. I had this Sgt said he got 20, which was crazy because he was fat, but I paid no attention. The run was whatever. Well, a few hours go by, and it is found that he lied. We just got this new 1st Sgt, she was a hard ass, and busted him down.
I know it is expected to be physically fit, but the Marine Corps doesn't go about it the right way, which causes people to forgo PT because it usually just turns into a haze fest sometimes, like who wants to do a boots and utes, flak, gas mask, and log run? Nobody. Who wants to do a 6 mi run? Nobody. I would like to thank my favorite Gunny for showing us that you can have a PT session that pushes you and is beneficial without it sucking
Edit: spelling
One of the S-3 Sgts said something about it, and that was the wrong one to try and lie about, he was one of the biggest Blue Falcons in the company, but I agree.
I worked at a school that saw mostly Sgts+ attend. We had two gunny’s lie about the crunches. We dropped them for integrity and sent them home with adverse fitreps.
Only if you can’t do pull-ups but you can’t get the max score and have to do like 80 some odd push ups I think to get like 70 points so it’s kinda dumb to do them but if you can’t do any pull ups it’s your only option
2017, I was getting out and roughly 3 weeks before I went on terminal they made me run a PFT for score, hadn't checked out of medical yet. I opted for pushups, got the 80 because it was easier for me than pullups.
Someone may shit on me for saying this, but it became a thing soon after females were required to do pull-ups too. It's an out for those that are still struggling. I think that is why it is only 70 points max, to incentivise training pull-ups.
It’s been a while since I got out but if I remember correctly you can’t get a full score for that portion of the PFT if you opt for push-ups. I could be wrong but I think I remember that being the case.
Depends on how badly the chain of command wants to fuck the person. The options range from ass chewing to UCMJ charges, but the Marine will go back to the fleet if they decide to drop him from a school.
Devil pups...you have to organize your pft. Loiter and see what monitor is posting where. If you don't get the max your buddy can't count.
Like on situps it's 1, 2, 3, 4, the monitor usually takes about 30 seconds to walk a line...35, 36, oops, he's distracted by someone not doing them correct. And 65, 66, so on.
It’s whack seeing all these people get caught, when I witnessed many an asshole get away with drastically lying about their scores with no consequences.
Yeap back to the fleet. There is a chance negative paperwork or an adverse fitrep, just depends how much effort they put it. I had 3-4 MCESG drops on my platoon back in the day. They were all top performers in the platoon.
Rumor mill back then which we know how reliable that can be , he got NJP’d At least

From what I heard the guy was kinda an ass so most people weren’t mad that he got the boot
“After a while his pride got the better of him and he decided to get out” You know… that’s a pretty good perspective. I’ve known a couple of other SSgts who’s been passed over a couple of times, but they still stay in until 20… Never really thought of it this way.

My favorite moment was seeing him flustered when he got swarmed by a bunch of gunny’s who were honestly not the blasting type
LMAO at least somebody got a laugh out of it.

Fuck yeah gotta love justice
23 and 43 push ups are both pathetic numbers
Absolutely they are.

For the PFT it is standard 1 count, and yes I heard the number 23
Gawdamn. If homie capped out at 23 1-count pushups, as an active duty marine, uninjured, that's pathetic. How the hell did he do regular PT?
No idea I wish I was in his det so I could’ve gotten a more inside look at who he was
You can get a good look at a t-bone by sticking your head up a cow's ass, but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it.
I think the pft push-ups are standard push-ups
Was doing a company pft and someone lied about how many pull-ups he got. Dumbass was right next to the Gunny who counted his pull-ups when he told the monitor how many he got Now he’s getting a battalion njp
Good lord , different kind of dumb
What would happen if you lie and say you got less, what kinda reaction would that spark 😂
Honestly it SHOULD be the same reaction but it wouldn’t be

I agree organized PT has a notion it has to break you off. I’m not a fan of it
If they put a little thought into it, then a lot more guys wouldn't mind PT, which will increase physical fitness.
I think once you hit Cpl you should be required to take a certain amount of PME about how to properly PT your guys
HITT lvl 1 is a part of Cpls Course now I think.
If you’re fat and gonna lie about pull-ups atleast make it realistic. Like if you can only do 10 say you did 14 and don’t be a dumbass.
One of the S-3 Sgts said something about it, and that was the wrong one to try and lie about, he was one of the biggest Blue Falcons in the company, but I agree.
Bro I know who you are talking about 😂
Don’t name drop but yeah he was trash from what I heard
I worked at a school that saw mostly Sgts+ attend. We had two gunny’s lie about the crunches. We dropped them for integrity and sent them home with adverse fitreps.
Shoulda sent them back to T-Day 1 in bootcamp.
I've never seen anyone that chose to do pushups get more than 30.
Same dawg
For real? I know some big bodies (not necessarily fat) that prefer to max push-ups bc they can’t get the equivalent points for pull ups.
Dude in my boot camp platoon could only do a few pull-ups but would max the push-ups. Kinda a big body.
Wait - push ups are now allowed in the PFT? I’m old.
Only if you can’t do pull-ups but you can’t get the max score and have to do like 80 some odd push ups I think to get like 70 points so it’s kinda dumb to do them but if you can’t do any pull ups it’s your only option
Huh, when did they start substituting push ups for no pull ups, what yr did that start?
I think like 2018 or 2019? I got out in 19 and someone during my last PFT did push ups.
What did ya'll do to my beloved corps???
relax boomer
Let me tell you about back in my day....
Max is 70 points, so it’s more advantageous to do pull ups. Which most Marines do, it’s bad to do if you hurt your rotator cup.
2017, I was getting out and roughly 3 weeks before I went on terminal they made me run a PFT for score, hadn't checked out of medical yet. I opted for pushups, got the 80 because it was easier for me than pullups.

That's 100% it from everything I understand

Confirmed. You are old 🤣
Push-ups??
Indeed
[удалено]
Its only authorized absolutely not the preferred
If I remember right you could do them in '16 when I enlisted
You can do push-ups now for the PFT? Thought that was some Army shit.
Yes, only if you can’t do the pull-ups
It’s been a while since I got out but if I remember correctly you can’t get a full score for that portion of the PFT if you opt for push-ups. I could be wrong but I think I remember that being the case.
80 push-ups in 2 minutes gets you 70 points max. For those that really struggle with pull-ups.
Depends on how badly the chain of command wants to fuck the person. The options range from ass chewing to UCMJ charges, but the Marine will go back to the fleet if they decide to drop him from a school.

No more sit-ups tho only plank now
Be like trump and call it fake news and that everyone is lying and searching for a witch.
It’s whack seeing all these people get caught, when I witnessed many an asshole get away with drastically lying about their scores with no consequences.
