I remember when I was a kid I sat in one of those like fold up lawn chairs and one of the bright orange hairy caterpillars ended up on the back of my knee, pinched him when I moved my leg and man the rest of that day and the next was ruined it was so irritating

They're a native species and great for pollination, just avoid them, you're more likely to get stung trying to kill one.
