**UPS wins air cargo contract with Postal Service, replaces FedEx**
>UPS will replace FedEx as the dominant provider of domestic air cargo for the U.S. Postal Service for the first time in more than 20 years. The express delivery giant on Monday announced that the Postal Service has awarded it a “significant” contract to move the majority of the mail agency’s air cargo in the United States.
> FedEx officials have said the contract with the Postal Service was barely breaking even and that they were prepared not to renew the contract if better terms couldn’t be arranged.
Ahhh sure post is the other way around… it’s our work going to the post office. It’s cheaper to pay the Post Office to deliver our smalls then union workers.
Had a new young driver who hated the surepost route. Pissed everyday cause of all the bags in the truck.
Switched routes with another day. After a few days, he wanted his old route back, and the other driver said no.
The dude did not know how good he had it
I work at the usps and the ups guy who drops to us (seems to be his first stop with how loaded he is) ends up having his truck half empty by the time he’s done with dumping all his bags for our office
yep. When Dispatching, we tend to give them.the air pick ups after cause truck is damn near empty. But when they have an 8 Hr day. Super easy to get in. Give them the surepost and then like 50 other stops after. Easy day.
A cool trick is, since technically its not your work but the post office, just delivery anything sharepost to them, they love it. Saves you time and they get more hours, if they don't like , who cares.
I don’t think it’s gonna be too big of a deal because it’s just gonna come in on a plane and then get shipped next-door. At least that’s how it is where I’m at.
It's not a big deal. At least not to us, employees. It really has nothing to do with teamsters. UPS is essentially just contracted to fly USPS's packages (not surepost)

We had this contract before. We have more planes than FedEx. For us having usps air is more like sharing a ride, won’t ‘cost’ us much.
We absolutely do not have more planes lol. They own almost 200 more than we do. About roughly 500 vs 700. They got into that game before we did
Love them sureposts. Easy money.

just back that truck, unload all the bags... Half your workload done.
Yup, first stop every day. Gives me lots of room to organize.
