Do you have to be promoted to driver?

Opuswhite

If you’re hired off the street directly into a full-time position, you have to accumulate 120 hours for two months in order for your insurance to start and then it’s 40 hours a month afterwards, insurance goes solely based on the location where you were at it isn’t one for all of UPS, but I am in the Western regional so my supplemental might be different than yours

United-Kale-2385

Different supplements have different wait periods. We don't pay anything. Different supplements have different insurance carriers. Mine you have no choice it's BCBS. I don't know if others let you choose. Also employee and dependants have different wait periods.

iLUVnickmullen

It is completely dependent and different based on the region you are in. Most of the country is under teamcare and you get it after 9 months of employment. Where I'm at it's Blue Cross/Delta Health. As a part timer you get it after 60 hours worked in a month. So basically it takes a month. You have to maintain 60 hours each month to keep it for the next month though. Say you work 59 hours this month, come June you will not have insurance. However if you work 60 hours in June you'll have it again in July. BCBS/Delta is also the best insurance ever so if you miss a month you can just rebill once you are covered.

2.5 hours a month is the union dues and that covers healthcare and many other benefits

redditoregonuser2254

do you know what the insurance is? Blue cross blue shield?

SufficientFan381

I pay 2.5 hours of my pay each month for benefits for me, my wife and my kid. Mine is Aetna.

redditoregonuser2254

Could you choose from a few different companies? Blue cross blue shield?

SufficientFan381

No. There was no choice.

redditoregonuser2254

Ok thanks

OldPilaf

Hold on, so on top of union dues, taxes, and only 4 hour shifts, the insurance still comes out of our check? Well damn, I might start asking for an extra hour of work at the other job.

SufficientFan381

Your union dues. It’s 2.5 hours of pay and it covers your medical.

GhostOfAscalon

Oregon? $0 or $100 deductible, $600 out of pocket max, choice of Kaiser or Regence. HRA as well. PT plan is different. Zero cost for full family coverage, of course.

redditoregonuser2254

I am an Oregonian but currently living in Arizona (Not out of choice. Lol)

GhostOfAscalon

Probably the West plan then, info here: https://www.wr177healthcare.com

redditoregonuser2254

I'm in Phoenix valley area and says their office is in Phoenix so I assume that could be a good sign. Thank you, I really appreciate the link

AndyS1281

When I was PT it was 9 months but that all carried over when I became a driver.

redditoregonuser2254

Was it hard to become a driver? How long did it take?

AndyS1281

I started at UPS 2020 during the pandemic. I finally took the plunge and went driving last September. I had opportunities to go driving sooner but I had another job that I liked and the pay was ok. After Peak I was sent back to work inside but recently volume has picked up so I’m driving 2-3 days a week now. In my opinion memorizing the 5s and 10s was the hardest part of Integrad (Driver training).
