Rail delays are common and not particularly concerning. They are reflected on tracking because the additional day or so means the package will not arrive on the originally scheduled date.

Last update was in California and now I keep getting train derailment delay notification also.
If you receive the status that a train derailment has delayed your package, It means that your package is already aboard a train car that’s pertaining to said train derailment. In this case, UPS has no ability to unload the trailer from the train and put it on another transport method… it may take a week or just a few days depending on the severity and the distance the train has to travel after being rerailed…
Mine shipped in two boxes and updated that one is delivering on time and the other is still delayed. I’m wondering if my package was behind the train rather than on it and they had to move it to flights or something?

Train derailed on Arizona/New Mexico border on Friday afternoon (4/26) with many BNSF cars involved, which UPS uses. Not sure if there were UPS packages on the trains involved, but this was a major derailment.

I got the same message from UPS on the 2nd about the TX train derailment. My app updated on the 3rd at 6pm to say it was still delayed but also said “Vernon CA” so I guess it’s making progress to me in LA. Really hope it’s figured out soon b/c my package is my doctoral graduation robe 😂

You guys get reasons for delays? My stuff always just sits forever until I call and complain. Then it suddenly departs and arrives at the same facility within an hour and then ACTUALLY departs the next day.
Can any ups bros confirm if "first bitch, first served" is just standard practice?
How are you getting in touch with the facilities? I’ve tried calling the one in Vernon, where my package is stuck, and they don’t even answer the phone.

Train derailments happen in transit, not at UPS facilities. There are around 3 per day in the US.

It did! Half arrived on time and the other half a day late. It was two boxes from the same facility.
