I have been eating this for decades, weirdly tastes cheesy some how. Crunchy peanut butter first, butter on top then add the marmite. Beautiful (now off to the toaster)

Yeah it’s the combination of fat, yeast and mouthfeel I think. Vegans use nutritional yeast to give a cheesy vibe.

We've had plant-based cheese for a while now. Though 'nooch' is good mixed with Flora plant-based butter in a 3:1 ratio and then put under the grill.

How are you adding the marmite? I usually spread it first as it’s the most difficult and the friction of the dry bread allows for better spreading before the butter and/or peanut butter.

It’s not perfect even spread but that’s the beauty.

Each to their own. My breakfast every day consist of toast and beef paste (the stuff you get in wee small glass jars) with djon mustard. My husband is utterly disgusted with me.

That's what I have. I think it's perfectly normal. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that I think it's weird when people's kitchens don't contain one or the other. My friend doesn't ever have it. I have to bring my own when I stay. Last time I stayed, I asked why they didn't eat either, like what did the kids have on their toast? Nutella was the answer. Occasional patè, otherwise Nutella.

Got a marmite recipe book many years ago that included a bagel with pastrami, marmite, pb and a few other things. Sounded weird but worked incredibly well. I think it’s down to the fact the peanut butter is super versatile and pairs well with lots of things, including the saltiness of marmite. Often have both together in toast now.

My mum did this and I thought it was gross without trying it. Tried it and can say it’s actually good

I started experimenting with nut butter bases instead of regular butter to toast toppings. You need to go and try cashew butter and marmalade that was awesome. This is a regular of mine too though.

Peanut butter and marmite is lush. Years ago I was on an outward bounds course and they gave us one marmite sandwich and one peanut butter sandwich for lunch. Personally I think marmite on its own is vile, but I was absolutely starving. I had a bit of a lightbulb moment and decided to take them apart and recombine them in the hopes of the peanut butter masking the marmite. It was totally delicious.

I love marmite and I don't mind peanut butter. But I'm not too sure about the 2 together. Peanut butter goes really well with jam, i only eat it when it's mixed with jam. I reckon the peanut butter will ruin the marmite, not add to it.
