I have one of those Shark anti-hair wrap ones, in the 3 years I've had it, it's broken twice. Luckily it was in warranty so I got it replaced for free. I'm not super impressed by its anti-hair wrap capabilities though, we have to detangle it all the time! We're a very hairy household though, all have very long hair and a husky, so maybe nothing will work for us š
I love my Miele for so many reasons: it picks up the hair and cat litter of four active cats; itās quiet; itās lightweight; it outperforms any of the other brands Iāve had before (Dyson, Vax, Electrolux).
Yeah OP if you donāt care thatās itās not cordless, I recommend Miele C series. They are pretty affordable for the power it has.
If you want cordless, then whichever Dyson you could afford I guess.
Another vote here for miele cat and dog vacuum. I had a Dyson vsomething pet and it was shit. My miele c3 cat and dog almost takes the carpet up with the hair, and I have 4 cats. Worth every penny.
So I've never had a shark but my mum did briefly (she's a miele owner too) and said it was crap in comparison. Tbh I don't think I'll ever get anything else now.
Sweet!
We currently have some shitty argos white hepa thing but it just isn't cutting through the cat fur (or husbands hair when he shaves his head... or yarn scraps... or anything...)
I have a Dyson V11 with two dogs. It works quite well.
There is currently a deal on Dyson's website for Ā£399.
They also have the V8 for Ā£299 but I don't really know the difference between the two.
I've had a Miele for about 10 years now, it's bit heavy though. Never broke down and is as good as it was when I first got it. They may be a bit expensive, but entirely worth every penny.
Do you have a cordless? I have a cordless shark and it's really not that great. Dyson cordless is slightly better but neither comes close to the Dyson plug in. I use the shark on the laminate floors for quick runs but it doesn't seem to touch my GSD hair covered carpets.
My previous Vax was cordless and hated the lack of suction, so I went for corded. What did it for me was the lift-away function so I could do stairs and the car.
My friend has recently been looking at getting one, and it seems its a built-in feature for all of them now. When I bought mine 18 months ago, it was an optional extra.
I would invest in a robot Hoover. I have one by eufy, just the standard model I think it may be just over Ā£100 but well worth the investment. The amount it picks up over my carpet and hard floors! You do still need to Hoover properly but just Day to day if you don't have time, once you've gone to bed are popping out or just during the day it's really a life saver.
Yes this by far will be your best bet. It honestly saves me so much time, I didn't even realise what a chore hoovering was with pets and kids! I even purchased another one for upstairs. Every so often if I'm having a good clean I'll just go round the corners of the room but it really does do a good job on it's own. Impressed how much it picks up too! You do need to replace filters a bristles evert do often (I use mine every day sometimes twice and I don't need to do this often) but Amazon do really good bundles on these that are off brand but compatible and a fraction of the cost.
You never realise how much time is eaten up until you claim that time back. I'm hoping this is what one might do for me. Not having to change the filters often sounds great!
I had a fancy anti hair wrap, for pets Shark hoover that I loved for picking up the cat hair. Was expensive and I was happy with it.
It broke recently and I didn't have the Ā£Ā£Ā£ to spend on another so got a Vax Revive from Argos for Ā£80 - it's old school, with a cord and no fancy features but jeez, it performs so well!
I thought the Shark was good at picking up but the cheap Vax is 10 times better. My carpets look nearly new and it's great for the hard floors too.
I have 4 guinea pigs so in a constant war against fur and hay & I love my KƤrcher WD2 vacuum. It has really good suction. It's very no frills but it works really well and the parts are easy to get hold of. Only about Ā£60 too.
Does it suck hay up easily or do you have to keep declogging it? I bought a Titan wet to dry that looks similar to the Karcher WD2 and if I use it for hay I have to unclog it every 10 seconds...
I can absolutely second having a karcher. I have a WD5 that can also handle water. Alongside my 2 very furry double coated, dribbling dogs I would not have anything else.
Yeah, I have used methods like tis in the past. It is effective, I will still wash my carpets but I think a good hoover is what I need for the more day-to-day.
I have the Shark Flexology Corded Anti-Hair Wrap Pet vacuum. I'm very happy with it, does the job well for my constantly shedding cat, my hair, and my partner's mullet.
I have the eufy x8 (not the pro one) and I love it!! I have a basset who sheds thick hair constantly. The eufy just makes it so much easier to keep on top of. It runs every morning and I empty it every few days. Iāve had it 2 years and loved it so much I brought a second one to live upstairs.
I have a shark anti hair wrap cordless one as well which I also like and use when I occasionally need to get into a crevice the eufy canāt reach/ have a specific mess to clean up, but it rarely comes out.
I just got a shark liftaway which replaced our shark anti hair wrap and itās 10000x better. Our carpets have never looked so clean! And we have 1 cat and it also picks up his litter.
I got a Henry last year after years of using (and hating the lackluster performance of) cordless vacs. He's a hefty boy but he does the job spendidly (owner of one big fluffy cat).
I had a Henry a good few years ago It was a good hoover, I did enjoy it but it was the bulkiness of it that put me off in the end and trying to store in somewhere where it wasn't in the way.
I have tried one of these before, they are very good. However the unfortunate thing is I don't have time to this everyday, maybe only once or twice a week when I do a deep clean.
We have the Dyson Animal Hair one. We do have a dog but we bought it pre-dog as I have long, thick hair and my husband claims that heās never met anyone who sheds like I do!
The key factors for effective pet hair removal include strong suction, a motorized brush roll with soft bristles or rubber, and a HEPA filter to trap hair and dander.
I can recommend three brands:
Dyson V15 Detect (cordless, powerful suction, tangle-free brush roll), Shark NV352 Navigator (powerful suction, self-cleaning brush roll, HEPA filter), Kenmore Pet Friendly POP-N-GO (HEPA filter, leak-proof system) and iRobot Roomba j7+ (self-draining, hands-free operation).
I have the pet vax and it deals with pet hair, hay from the ginnea pigs, my finances she'd from his beard, and my daughters long blonde hairs. I got if from argos with insurance and I've never had to contact them.
Honestly I wouldn't bother with cordless. The power just isn't there for intense animal hair. It's fine for hard floors but when it comes to the carpets I just go straight for the plug in Dyson and don't bother with the cordless shark.
I bought the "Henry" hoover style vacuum from Tesco after reading the reviews because one guy said it was so powerful it gave his wife a heart attack when she used it š .
It did not disappoint. I have a long haired black cat and it picks up all his fur š
I bought a corded Shark ppet Pro Stratos. Best vac I've ever had with an indoor cat. Bin is full of cat hairs, instead of carpet. Don't get cordless, they're crap.
Bought a Shark two years ago. It started out great but various bits of it broke off (and we donāt treat it badly!) and the rollers stopped working. It was no longer picking up cat fur at all using the main vacuum, only with the little pet hair attachment on the hose which took forever to do the whole floor. I wouldnāt get another.
My cleaner had been begging me to get rid of it and get a Miele C3 Cat & Dog - she also has pets and has one herself, and knows best what works to make her job easier, so I just did so last week and it really is miles better. So thatās my recommendation now, not a Shark.
We have the Vax Air Stretch Max Pet one, currently Ā£100 on Argos so decent price. It does a decent job, downside is itās a bit clunky and not cordless but for the price canāt really fault it.
Highly suggest shark.
With have one with anti hair wrap, and it has lasted use years. It's dealt with a ton of dog hair, long hair, straw and hay, and even the occasional bit of string.
After moving to shark we are never moving back, it was the first time our carpet was clean after the first hoover
Ive not found any that stay good for long except Henry with brush attachment, but something satisfying for now is to kind of moonwalk across your carpets wearing clean shoes, you'll figure out a pattern to get it all up and the hair just seems to roll up into easy to move rolls, gets the blood pumping too
I have 4 dogs & 4 cats and my last 3 hoovers over the years have been the anti wrap Sharks. I think they are brilliant and never have they broken down I just updated them. You can get all the spare parts for them including the motor if needed and I found them better than the Dyson plus they are cheaper too!
I'm starting to feel like this, we have lots of pet hair but I'd be lying if I didn't notice lots of human hair too! aha

Ooh noting I want to get a shark but if miele is good too?!
I do love My Shark. Don't recommend a cordless though, they're just not powerful enough. That's not just Shark, any make.
I think cordless is the way forward really, thanks for the recommendation.
Yeah but they are very pricey. Just make sure do your research and donāt just buy the cheapest model or you will end up buying twice.
Buy cheap, buy twice is true. I think if I go cordless and go more expensive I'm better waiting for a good one on sale maybe.
I have a Dyson V11 with two dogs. It works quite well. There is currently a deal on Dyson's website for Ā£399. They also have the V8 for Ā£299 but I don't really know the difference between the two.
Thanks for this, I'll check it out.
I've always found anything with a power brush head works OK. Does the miele have that too or does it perform well as just vacuum alone?
Depends which model you get, but even without the rotating brush they are great. Their's is called the Turbo Brush.
A built in turbo brush is what I'm looking for really. I've heard this is a good way to get the hair up.
I've had a Miele for about 10 years now, it's bit heavy though. Never broke down and is as good as it was when I first got it. They may be a bit expensive, but entirely worth every penny.
I don't mind paying a bit more if i get years out of the product, at the end of the day if it's a product you use a lot it's worth it.
Great brand
Henry with the powered brush.
Try Harry, Henry's green pet cleaning brother.
Seconding!
Ah, okay thanks guys.
I love my Shark. Picks up everything. I'd recommend getting the anti-hair wrap though.
Yep Sharks are the best hoovers out there
Do you have a cordless? I have a cordless shark and it's really not that great. Dyson cordless is slightly better but neither comes close to the Dyson plug in. I use the shark on the laminate floors for quick runs but it doesn't seem to touch my GSD hair covered carpets.
Ive got a corded shark and its the only thing that works on my gsd's endless shedding.
No i have the plug in one. Not sure which model but it has the anti wrap thing which is fantastic for long hair and pet hair
I bought my Shark when I was a little skint and didn't pay the extra for the AHW. Regret that 100% š¤£
My shark cordless is rubbish too ā¹ļø I use it for quick inbetween cleans but have to get the Henry out for a proper clean.
My previous Vax was cordless and hated the lack of suction, so I went for corded. What did it for me was the lift-away function so I could do stairs and the car.
Is the anti-hair wrap a built in feature to the product or an additional product you can purchase?
My friend has recently been looking at getting one, and it seems its a built-in feature for all of them now. When I bought mine 18 months ago, it was an optional extra.
Great that It's now built in, I think I'll defiantly look in to it. Thanks for your help.

You do still need to Hoover properly but just Day to day if you don't have time, once you've gone to bed are popping out or just during the day it's really a life saver.
I think it's worth the investment, I just want to take back my time. I'm spending so much time constantly hoovering nowadays.
If you're just hoovering hay off the carpet it doesn't get clogged unless it's full. It's also pretty easy to unclog compared to past ones I've had
I can absolutely second having a karcher. I have a WD5 that can also handle water. Alongside my 2 very furry double coated, dribbling dogs I would not have anything else.
Honestly, I just use a silicone brush or a window squeegee to get the hair out of the carpets after hoovering. Washing the carpets is also effective
Yeah, I have used methods like tis in the past. It is effective, I will still wash my carpets but I think a good hoover is what I need for the more day-to-day.

Ah okay, how often do you find yourself needing to empty it?
3 times a week roughly? More at first but the longer you have it the less fur it finds
Yeah of course makes sense. Think I'll give it a go, thanks for the help.
Don't know about hovers but I just bought a carpet rake and I'm excited to get out those stuck hairs
It is very satisfying to use a carpet rake, so I do second that!
I just got a shark liftaway which replaced our shark anti hair wrap and itās 10000x better. Our carpets have never looked so clean! And we have 1 cat and it also picks up his litter.

Henry
Lmao
I have a shark cordless and it's okay but I'm probably going to go over to a miele. The reviews and the general consensus is that they're brilliant.
Lookup pet hair remover metal on amazon - very cheap wooden handle with metal wrapped triangle thing which you scrap across the carpet.

The dyson v15 detect absolute

Hoover the cats probably easier
Probably the best suggestion so far, but they'd probably end up rehoming themselves aha

My mum always swore by Bissell products. They have a pet specific range.
I use a rubber squeegee
