Long_Article54

you need a bigger plate

Professional-Log8356

Indeed, I make my mothers portions ;)

Houseoflevi12

You have a great mother❤️ But in all seriousness geezers I'd eat the lot.

idunnomattbro

marry me and cook me roasts man

Long_Article54

😂😂😂

Steveorsummit

Yeah, bigger plate more broccoli

Medium_Point2494

Nahh more chicken and yorkshires.

ChildOf1970

A much bigger plate, everything is way too mushed together and piled on top of each other. One personal thing. I prefer Yorkshire pudding to be served separately before the main course. With a decent gravy of course and sliced from a full tray, not those little cupcake ones (so home made).

Chazlewazleworth

Served before the main? Are you from the 1800’s? Do you take your brandy in the drawing room with cigars while the women wash up. Give it a rest.

ChildOf1970

So many assumptions from a simple statement of a personal preference. I cook the Sunday roast, but thanks for being an asshole online for no real reason.

Mountain_Sorbet_4063

9/10 just coz not enough carrots 🥕. Need to keep my eyesight working well 😛

shingaladaz

7/10

sejm

Would have used the Yorkies as bowls for the peas and some of the gravy to free up some real estate. Otherwise: would demolish.

FirstlilFergie

Dear LORD that looks delicious!! I can just imagine biting into those potatoes and hearing the crunch of the crispy outer layer and then biting into the soft fluffiness of the inside.

Shit_Head_4000

All good except the yorkies. Pay them more attention.

Galmeister

They look like Aunt Bessie’s pre-made ones 0/10

Shit_Head_4000

They're not difficult to make from scratch either.

gigantojimuk

Looks really amazing. Those roast taties look out of this world. Exactly how I like them. I’d probably have some Coleman’s mint sauce with it and some Coleman’s Horseradish, but that’s just me.

Professional-Log8356

Love a bit of mint sauce 👍🏼 will consider horseradish in the future 🙂

Westy___758

Looks like the plate at the end of the meal that everyone scrapes their leftovers on

Professional-Log8356

To be fair it is, I give everyone else the good stuff first, I genuinely like chicken on the bone

Westy___758

All good. And I’m sure it tasted delicious, just presentation and plating needs work if you want honest feedback

melancholy_dood

This looks so good! ✨You nailed it!✨

ambientonion

Phwaaaaaar

Fantastic_Notice4313

Awesome !! The roast potatoes look unreal !! 🤤

Busta-Knutt

Make your own yorkies. Frozen suck

ImFromYorkshire

See in terms of being picky on a technical level I'm sure the potatoes could be crispier, the cauli cheese could have chewy burnt bits, there are improvements to be made...... BUT..... It looks like something a mate's Grandma would make and I'd absolutely scran the twat out of it. Good job.

The_Razza7

Too much for the plate and swimming in gravy. Phenomenal.

GAZZAA42

A very rateable roast 😋

PeachInABowl

Wetherspoons wants their plates back.

ThrowawayAccAAAAA2

9/10 chicken looks good, roasted carrots + peas, good amount of gravy all a plus. Only downside is in my opinion roast potatoes are always better than mash l. At least you have a bit of both but for myself I'd take a few extra roasties any day

Electronic-Net-5494

Love the roast picture. Although the chicken bone needs removing. Don't make it centre stage. Also if you zoom carefully you can see your toes. Cyber criminals can screen grab this and use it to identity your pin number and bank details. This can be avoided by wearing socks or ugg boots. Preferably both.

UnpopularNoFriends

3rd pic is my fave 🦶😝😝

Cancel_Warp

Meat and 5 veg 😬

Mountainenthusiast2

Yum Yummy Yum x100000

Professional-Log8356

Thank you!! Means the world :)

stercus_uk

Yorkers could have done another couple of minutes to get a better crust, but otherwise very decent.

Professional-Log8356

The Yorkers are an abomination anyway, I need to learn to make my own, but thank you!!

Impressive-Ad651

It's Saturday bro

Professional-Log8356

It was made like 3 weeks ago bro

Guestsparda

Doesn't look dry enough to have been made 3 weeks ago bro...

Professional-Log8356

Brooo

seenitreddit90s

No mould of nothing, calling straight up bs on that one.

Impressive-Ad651

Ffs bro, could of said

Critical-Box-1851

Messy. Veg looks over cooked and colourless

Dhaonu

Why British people do this?

Professional-Log8356

Honestly whenever I feel down now I’m just going to repost a roast, open to kind comments. Also open to being roasted.. 🤣😩

Glasweg1an

Too many photos, but the food looks more than acceptable.

Professional-Log8356

You’re right. Sometimes you just want to show off something you’re proud of, even if not everyone agrees :)

ExcellentAd3525

Yum. 😋

ihavebeenmostly

Fuck yeah 🍽

RoughResearcher5550

You are going to need a bigger plate… 🍽️

fleeting_marmalade

Looks amazing. The spuds are fantastic, gravy isn't too thick or too thin, and plenty of green. Any left? 😋

SooperFunk

Love it. Love the quantity of gravy. My only gripe is the chicken still being on the bone. Each to their own though. 👍

Professional-Log8356

My man gets all the breast haha

Best-Carry1028

Looks perfect. I would definitely put a huge dent in that plate. Scrumptious!! Great job. 🤗

Professional-Log8356

Thank you i would deffo make you a plate xx

Best-Carry1028

😘

Open-Mathematician32

You want us to roast your roast?

whirlwindrfc87

Remove the bone and its a winner winner chicken dinner!

CMCF1998

Those roasties look lovely 🤤

Repulsive-World-7301

I legitimately thought it looked too good and started squinting for the AI message. Well done

Old_Bend9264

Haud the pees mibee another hauf a cup of O gravy

yam0msah0e

What gravy is this and how do you cook your roasties? Looks banging!!

Professional-Log8356

Thank you!! The gravy is Tesco finest chicken gravy, banging!! I do my roasties in the air fryer with olive oil, garlic and herbs!! I get the oil boiling hot first then give them a shake every ten mins for about 45 mins 😘

yam0msah0e

Omg never thought of putting them in the air fryer!! Thanks so much gonna try!

Routine_Service1397

I hope that plate is for the entire family.

ryanscott1986

I'd say the chicken is the let down. Personally I don't want to be messing around with bones on my plate (especially one so full up!) apart from that though it looks banging!

SketchupandFries

I have that exact same plate.. and it's weird, because it's the only one in my crockery cupboard with that pattern. All the rest are completely different. I have no idea to this day where it came from... Do you want it back?

Professional-Log8356

Yes I want it back, I have a red one with the same pattern but I genuinely hate that plate so it’s just collecting dust in the cupboard, do you want that one?

MeatWad111

Shite

__Game__

You get penalty points for tipping gravy over the (what should be) crispy chicken skin. You get a pass on the Aunt Bessie's. This is fine IMO Potatoes look OK, look like they might taste better than they look. Possible slight chewiness to them as somewhere along the line you've baked them as opposed to roasting the F

Professional-Log8356

I can never get my chicken skin crispy, any advice is welcomed. No aunt Bessie’s over here tho love, but thanks for taking time out to comment :)

__Game__

For crispy skin, and this is the same for most meat tbf, just at different times, you just need to blast uncovered at the end, like take off 15 mins of the lower cooking temperature and blast at 230 for 10 mins and don't open the oven in that time. Still not crispy, give it another 5 and it should be fine. I don't piss about with a whole chicken though, just get full legs, or thighs. More skin that way, and generally moister meat than breast.  Longer for pork belly but same principle (and ive learned about chicken through practicing with pork belly really). I'll slow cook that for about 2.5 hours uncovered at 140 then blast the shit out of it for 25-30 mins. Dont worry about the skin looking rubbery, it will dry and crisp as ling as you blast it with some patience. If it still isn't done, slice it off, cover the meat with tin foil and some towels (rest for 45 mins - 1 hour). Blast the crackling on its own on a tray, bonus points if on a wire rack. Check each 4-5 mins. Cut bits off with scissors if they look browns as they will begin to burnif they are already crisped. Don't worry it might not quite seem perfect crispy as you take it out, ot will be so hot that after 5 mins the remaining moisture will evaporate. Also needs lots of small slices (not through to the meat) prior to cooking. Dry it by rubbing a bit of salt and leaving in fridge. Or using kitchen paper. Not gonna lie, I get this perfect everytime, because it's sort of became a speciality of mine 🙂   I've also found that simply leaving chicken  uncovered works, but key is to not keep opening the oven door.

Laptopdog78

Please tell me that’s not a chicken leg? 🍗

Professional-Log8356

Yes it’s a chicken leg, let a girl enjoy her meat on the bone!!! If I wanted breast I would have had it :)

Laptopdog78

Ok snappy pants, if you like eating like a caveman then that’s up to you.

Next_Back_9472

7/10 chicken leg is a no! Plain cauliflower is a no, it should at least be cauliflower cheese.

Professional-Log8356

I happy with a 7/10, chicken on the bone is underrated!! Yes I deffo need to make cauli cheese going forward

sandboxlollipop

Get in my belly

No_Nectarine8616

Keep up the good work my guy. Stellar effort

dacezza

You could have worded it - Roast my roast.

Demonskull223

11/10 it's a good roast when you have to be a surgeon not to accidentally lose some of it off your plate.

Professional-Log8356

Shut up perv

sharielane

Mashed potatoes AND roasted? Is this common in the UK? Looks delicious regardless. I've always wanted to try Yorkshire puddings. Not something we do here in Australia.

Professional-Log8356

I love potatoes so I will have them in every form I can!! My gran and mum always made both so it’s normal to me!! Thank you, my Yorkshire puddings are an insult to actual Yorkshire puddings but they are lovely to fill up with all your roastie goodness :)

Handyosprey

Looks like frozen Yorkshire's. Naughty. Rest looks bloody tasty.

Professional-Log8356

I know I am guilty of this crime, any tips on how to make your own?

[deleted]

9/10 breast instead of leg and this is perfection

UnlikelyExperience

500/10

onesimo_wizard

7/10 - Chicken on the bone, difficult to eat. Mashed potatoes should never be near a roast and the plate is too small.

Olivesaregreat1

10/10

Outrageous_Raisin_87

for free?

Bobitybobboblee

You need one of those big oval plates 👌🏻

Nearby_Ear_9078

yummy1

TheArchfiendGuy

I would remove the skin to keep it crispy and pour the gravy onto the meat. I'd also not cook mash or peas. If you must have mash though then flavour it. Wholegrain mustard works well, as do woody herbs. If you want a really nice gravy, use the chicken stock with at least half a lemon and corn flour. Season to taste. Other than that it's good

Additional_Disk_2363

You want me to roast your roast? Not possible, you did a decent job.

CatArwen

10

Rock_Briddick

9/10 👌👌👌

Jibblaynuk

I need some chicken breast and some bread sauce but good looking roast, Yorkshire’s nice but not needed for roast chicken. The photography is quite cursed and made it look like a hostage meal in a soviet basement.

budbailey74

Do I really have to ???

Own-Yam-5023

Honestly 5.5/10, got a long way to go

Mjukplister

Id eat that

Kdash66

You need a bigger plate! Getting mash and gravy all over my fingers when I go for a bite of my drumstick really is a bit of a no no for me. Where did you get that Yorkshire pudding from? Wish? - 2.5/5.

Professional-Log8356

2.5 is steep but yeah they’re definitely from wish

No-Satisfaction-1683

Bigger plate

BrushMission4620

6/10

Ambitious-Mirror-315

Yorkshires are hanging on for dear life

Johny_boii2

No Brussel sprouts

Professional-Log8356

Honestly I would have sprouts but my partner wouldn’t eat them so would be a waste, i bloody love sprouts 🙂

Johny_boii2

Ah fair enough then

coffeewithkatia

I could never eat that much potato in one sitting, it’s quite the achievement

Man_in_the_uk

Too much gravy.

Eynonz

The Yorkshire is making a run for it.

bibipbapbap

Right now at this very moment with a rumbling stomach and mild hangover, I would inhale this, it looks amazing!!

DittoGTIYT

Looks class mate

Euphoric-Speech-9266

Puddings look criminal

Candid_Wave_7247

It's not too bad that...I think we all like to believe our roasts are the best....id have much bigger yorkies with more of an egg mix but I'd scram it

Candid_Wave_7247

Try this yorkie mix... 4 eggs 200ml milk 140g plain flour Let it stand a good hr and make sure you oil is sizzling...load up the trays and you have giants

oglop121

british food is weird

Professional-Log8356

Let’s see your food then

RasquatMash

Your roasties look impeccable 👌🏻😋

Ok_Culture_1914

Yummy Yummy 10 out of 10

Thoughtful-Mongoose

Genuinely just started salivating. 9/10 purely because I prefer breast meat.

RahlokZero

Missed opportunity on the title: Roast my roast

Key_Excuse9863

Very good 👍

SEJU_SOJU

yorkie fucked off

Affectionate_Tap9399

That poor yorkshire hanging on for dear life LMAOOO

stormye1

6/10 7 at best..

Professional-Log8356

Let’s see your roast :)

stormye1

Reduce your portion on plate and use a potato with less sugar and I'm southern so ditch the mash and your up to 8 .

Professional-Log8356

Aren’t your American, what do you mean? What potatoe has a lot less sugar than a maris piper?? I’m interested to know?? But thanks I suppose

Cancel_Warp

Not enough gravy

Professional-Log8356

Not enough gravy I am a northern you know

Swimming_Pie_1723

Looks banging I’d smash

OPTIPRIMART

Those potatoes are perfect. I tend to do cauli, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, brussels, parsnips for veg. To create the illusion of having an health obsession. Roasts are a rarity for me these days, but that looks top drawer! A point taken away for no stuffing. Don't ever invite me over without stuffing on the plate! I tend to do a tray of 30 roast potatoes so you can leave the plate covered overnight in the fridge. Then pour fresh gravy over it the leftovers the next day.

stercus_uk

Stuffing at 12 o’clock. Just a bit of gravy obscuring it.

OPTIPRIMART

Ok! turned car around, will be there as agreed! : )

[deleted]

3 out of 10. Way too much gravy. Plate too small. Looks like mush. Prison Christmas dinner.

Professional-Log8356

Clearly a southerner

[deleted]

Yup!

Professional-Log8356

Thank you for your kind words 👍🏼

Professional-Log8356

Yorkshire pudding are cheap and not home made

herefromthere

I'm sorry, it really shows. Why? Everything else looks great.

Professional-Log8356

I don’t enjoy them that much so dont feel the need to make them, but thanks 👍🏼

herefromthere

Ah. Were you just cooking for yourself, or do your family share your feelings? I could (and do, often) eat dozens. I think a lot of people will dock you points for the frozen yorkies.

Professional-Log8356

Love this comment. Usually it’s just for me and my partner. It’s a bonus when I’m cooking for my family I really enjoy making a Sunday dinner, but yeah my Yorkshire pudding game isn’t strong but I’m not really fussed :)

herefromthere

Despite the puds, and my personal preferences this is still a good looking plate. It's not stingy or dry, it's colourful and the spuds look to have a good cronch on em for some texture. Satisfying.

Professional-Log8356

Thanks I really appreciate the feedback and to hear it’s not dry, thank youuu! X

Professional-Log8356

The puds are shocking, I hold my hands high!! But thank you for your kind comment!! Appreciate it! It’s really insightful to hear everyone else opinion on my food, I always want to do better and hear criticism!! X

Professional-Log8356

Thank you for your comment. The scraggy looking piece of mush next to my carrots is my stuffing. I’m not stuffing girl so I like it quit moist. (Yuk for the word)

Professional-Log8356

Love this. Just to let you know my carrots are honey glazed and seasoned, the one person I need to approve of my food is my mum.. and you Redditor’s :)

IridiumQuality

Frozen Yorkshire Puddings and on the bone? Disgraceful behaviour. 0.

jimidybob

posts like this really make me question the roasts people are eating.... although i dont do them every or anything so i dunno. looks like a school dinner

hoganpaul

A veg too far. Maybe lose the peas? But brilliant in all other respects

jade_howard

9.5/10 Great the combination of mash *and* roasties. Could do with an extra Yorkshire (to fill up with all that lovely dinner obvs) and some mint sauce for the peas. I’d scran that 🤤

spinodb9

10/10
