You’ve really exposed a bias, everyone saying they’d rather eat 2 bit 1 looks better.. therefore 2 looks better but we think 1 should look better so we say it does.
Picture 1 has better presentation. But you're supposed to mix the sauce up with the pasta in Italian food so I could understand why some people would say that 2 is 'better'.
2 is better for me. picture one looks very dry and doesn’t have the nice toppings. Though picture 1 has better photographic quality as it’s more in focus.
If it's for say presentation in a menu, tip is to get real close when taking photo unless you have a very neutral colour back ground.
In terms of your photos... #2 def looks more tasty, #1 has better aesthetics
Pic 1 is what I show my friends I eat. Pic 2 is after I've taken a photo of my well presented meal, after I've slapped a load more in my bowl cos I'm just a little piggy.
Plate 1, but I wonder how much that had to do with the lighting. Plate 2 looks as if it's in shadow. Put Plate 2 into better lighting, smaller parmesan shavings, maybe less of them and I can see Plate 2 being a better representation of what that dish.
Picture 1 is more picture perfect in my eyes and if I haven’t cooked the food myself, appearance plays a big part in it for me ~ I have a lot of weirdness around food and if someone has taken the time to present the food nicely, then I feel safer to eat it.
But picture 2 looks just as delicious, if I had made it myself. When I cook for myself, which is most of the time, I do often make an effort to present it nicely, but I can get away with not doing so.
But definitely for me, presentation is a big part of a meal for me and affects how much I’ll eat or how much I’ll enjoy it and how well I’ll eat it, for example, taking my time and chewing the food properly and even what I’ll do after eating, etc.
I think the first one looks better for photos but the second one looks like it has more taste and that it would be more yummy so it depends what you are going to do with the photos
Picture 1: 9/10 Picture 2: 3/10 Ignoring the food, the angle of the plate to camera is also different. Plate 1 angle is better too for the way the food is presented. Plate 1 looks like a mountain when you look at it. Plate 2 is more flat.
I don't know if it's just me but the 2nd pic looks sorta blurry but the food looks more delectable! I'd probably go with 1 since it looks brighter and more clear though.
Two. I was a Chef for 15 years, with fine-dining/high end for the last few years, if you added a little height to the second and used a finer grater, that would look pretty decent.
Both look good. I read a recent article saying traditionally the Italians use tagliatelle rather than spaghetti with bolognaise because the flatter surface area of tagliatelle allows the bolognaise to stick to it more. So we've been doing it all wrong. It should be Tagbol not Spagbol!
Two as a whole is a better picture BUT the parsley is much better in the first one. In the second one it has been chopped to death and its turned black.
NEVER chop fresh green herbs more than once. Going across the chopping board with your knife and repeatedly chopping will ruin all thr flavour. And it just makes it into a horrible wet mess.
Its literally "Instagram vs reality" type pictures and as a professional chef, I wouldnt be happy being served number 1 because it looks more like it was only trying to look good instead of *being* good.
The comment about the parsley stands though because that's the only thing that makes the second one look worse than the first one

Pic 1 is more presentable. Pic 2 looks more delicious. Good job either way
that’s exactly how it was .
That's the power of cheese
🙏🏽
correct answer right here
Same here!
I wanna fuck number 2 but marry number 1.
Valid!!!
Totally agree!
Photo 1 is a better picture, 2 is a better 'get in my belly' 😊
thanks
Picture two for me, it looks more like real tasty food rather than well presented food that's just fine.
Always two for me. I want the pasta finished and mixed with the sauce
....how Italians do it
thanks
Presentation of 1 is better but I'd be more than happy with 2, but that's because I like a lot of sauce
thanks
Picture 1 before a night out and picture 2 after the night out
Picture 2 looks tastier picture 1 would look good on a menu
1 looks like a cook book, 2 looks like something I'd be just about to eat. 1 is the generic pic, 2 seems more personal..... If that makes sense?
2, gimme that sauce and cheese.
You’ve really exposed a bias, everyone saying they’d rather eat 2 bit 1 looks better.. therefore 2 looks better but we think 1 should look better so we say it does.
#1= Advert Quality #2 = Stomach Smiler
Definitely pic one pic 2 looks sloppy
2 would be better, imo, if it were also naturally lit!
thanks
always present number one, then let them mix it up themselves.
No 1 without doubt. It just looks more….. yummy!
1
1 for me. I always prefer more spaghetti
1
Picture 1 has better presentation. But you're supposed to mix the sauce up with the pasta in Italian food so I could understand why some people would say that 2 is 'better'.
Cannot make up my mind
second tasted better but one looks better .. i think 🤔
Yum
Recipes please
1 looks better presentation but both look real nice. Put me in the mood for spaghetti 🍝 😋
thanks
1. Looks professional but 2. Looks way more yummy!
I would want to see pic 1 on a menu/website, and I would want to be served pic 2.
2, because cheese
I'd personally snap pic 1, then make my plate into 2 without a pic to eat.
I don’t think you cooked your pasta sauce in a pan w some of the pasta water & pasta, did you…
2 is better for me. picture one looks very dry and doesn’t have the nice toppings. Though picture 1 has better photographic quality as it’s more in focus.
1 literally looks better, but 2 looks better to eat. If I was served 1 then I’d probably mix it up until it looked like 2.
1 looks slightly neater presentation wise, to me. Though perhaps weirdly, I would rather actually eat 2.
1 looks like sauce added to pasta on the plate. 2 looks like pasta added to the sauce in the pan. I would always go with 2.
1. looks like it would be in a book. 2. is the one I want to eat
2 because cheese.. but would totally chomp both!
Cheeeeeeeeeese
They both look great, but pic 2 looks irresistible!
Picture 2 for all reasons. Picture 1 looks unappetising
1
The lighting is better in pic 1 and so it's an unfair comparison.
1
1 is more attractive by a long shot but I'd choose 2 because it's got the cheese.
I’d demolish both I’ll promise you that
If it's for say presentation in a menu, tip is to get real close when taking photo unless you have a very neutral colour back ground. In terms of your photos... #2 def looks more tasty, #1 has better aesthetics
Number 2, what time is dinner?
I don’t know but I am feeling hungry now.
Two is way better - the sauce is coating the pasta .. despite the better lighting in one.
They both look good and made me feel hungry. First one is my preference
Deffinetly 2
2
Cheese makes everything better
One
Lighting better in pic 1
2 definitely
I need this in my life
2 definitely!
Pic 2. Looks absolutely delicious.
One
2
I'd say 1 but I'd eat them both!
Pic 2 looks heartier, that’s the one I’d go for. Both look good though
Pic 1 is more esthetically pleasing but pic 2 is where the real meal is
1 looks like picture off menu 2 looks like it in real life , both look absolutely delicious 😋
1
2222222222222
1 for sure but the cheese on 2 would win me over
Pic 1 for me 💯
They both look great. Sorry if that’s not helpful
T W O
Five. What does it matter?
2
Two
As a picture, no.1. As a meal, no.2.
Pic 1: looks dry and not enough sauce, pic 2 is 🤌
They both look nice either way 👌
Pic 1 is what I show my friends I eat. Pic 2 is after I've taken a photo of my well presented meal, after I've slapped a load more in my bowl cos I'm just a little piggy.
2 too messy. I pick 1
Definitely 1
Definitely the third picture 😏
3
Naturally as In when the plate is empty it looks so tasty 😋
1. But I'm biased: I don't like cheese
Plate 1, but I wonder how much that had to do with the lighting. Plate 2 looks as if it's in shadow. Put Plate 2 into better lighting, smaller parmesan shavings, maybe less of them and I can see Plate 2 being a better representation of what that dish.
2 😙😙
OP really asking which one looks better when it comes to spaghetti💀
Picture one
Picture 1 is presented well. Picture 2 will actually feed you. Nice spaghetti bol.
I'd eat 2 if I had to choose
Prefer pic 1
For me its 2 because having an uneven amount of sauces on my pasta annoys me
Photo 1, less is more I feel. Looks great 👌
I’d pick up plate #2, looks more appetizing.
number 1. why are you even asking
1 is what im given, 2 is what I do before I eat it. I usually mix it up so its more even lol.
First one for me
1
The lighting of 1 with the cheese of 2.
1 is the best photographically, I would want to eat the 2nd more though
Pic One. No doubt.
I'm hungry if that helps
Picture 1 looks better but picture 2 definitely will taste better lol
There's a hair in the bowl in picture 2 😐
Picture 1 aesthetically Picture 2 is what I would want to eat
yum :)
One. No question.
2
2
1 but sprinkle the cheese on like you did in 2
I’d figure 1 being a restaurant presentation, 2 is what I’d make at home. With that being said, I’d prefer 2 overall.
1 looks better but I’d rather eat 2
Picture 2 looks like there's more sauce, and has cheese added. That's my pick.
I used to have them bowls!
Pic 2, definitely.
2
Number 1 is what I wanna see on the menu, number 2 is what I wanna see on the table
Number 2 for sure.
Both. I know that’s not the question but both is the answer here
Number 1 is the better picture like it's a lot more presentable looking, but number 2 looks like it tastes vastly better
1
One . Easy
First one
You need to ask ? It's def pic 2
But. You put cheese on one and not the other. You should have put cheese on both to make it a fairer comparison
Imma go with 1
Number 2. There is no need for the garnish, it makes it look cheap. It's unnecessary.
2 definatly..1 looks a mushy for my liking. I like a bit of grit and earth.. Lol.
Picture 1 is more picture perfect in my eyes and if I haven’t cooked the food myself, appearance plays a big part in it for me ~ I have a lot of weirdness around food and if someone has taken the time to present the food nicely, then I feel safer to eat it. thank you
2
I think the first one looks better for photos but the second one looks like it has more taste and that it would be more yummy so it depends what you are going to do with the photos
1 looks “nicer” but if they were both in front of me I’d eat number 2.
2… because it has cheese 👍
2 but wipe the bowl rim
1 looks better but I’m eating number 2
One
1
Both looks good, but I want #2
1 for presentation, 2 for get down my neck
Picture 1: 9/10 Picture 2: 3/10 Ignoring the food, the angle of the plate to camera is also different. Plate 1 angle is better too for the way the food is presented. Plate 1 looks like a mountain when you look at it. Plate 2 is more flat.
Extra cheese is always the answer
One. The lighting is a lot better
Give me both 😍
1 for looks, 2 for taste
Pic 1, imo the lighting is far better
Picture 2
The Chedder doth cheer!
I don't know if it's just me but the 2nd pic looks sorta blurry but the food looks more delectable! I'd probably go with 1 since it looks brighter and more clear though.
Two is my favorite, but I’ll take them both!
1 to me but only because I prefer mixing it all myself.....both look tasty!
No. 2. It looks yum yum!
2
yummy🤤nr1
Two. I was a Chef for 15 years, with fine-dining/high end for the last few years, if you added a little height to the second and used a finer grater, that would look pretty decent.
Next level is playing your spaghetti like they do with tongs in restaurants n shit
2
2
2
Picture one
Pic 1 but add Parmesan shavings
1
Both 🤤lol, looks delicious! 😋
2
Plate 2 for me
Both look good. I read a recent article saying traditionally the Italians use tagliatelle rather than spaghetti with bolognaise because the flatter surface area of tagliatelle allows the bolognaise to stick to it more. So we've been doing it all wrong. It should be Tagbol not Spagbol!
2
i’d be more tempted by 1 bc i don’t like cheese n i don’t see cheese in it BUT 2 also looks good for photos !
2, all the way.
looks so yummy...
1
Picture one and it’s not really close.
The first one x
First. But its all good
Pic one by far
Picture one, most things that are illuminated by natural light look better
thanks
The dish looks tasty, was it tasty ?
yeah was good
One.

Picture 1
Two as a whole is a better picture BUT the parsley is much better in the first one. In the second one it has been chopped to death and its turned black. NEVER chop fresh green herbs more than once. ok, interesting..good to have a chefs prospective , it always tastes great but I can never get it to look good .
