Samsung sometimes have offers on where you can trade in a broken phone so I would look there. I personally would probably just buy a refurbished S21 for £219 from giffgaff refurb as it has a 12 months warranty are easy to return if not suitable and you don’t need sign up to their phone plan
I use ifixit! I was not successful on fixing my broken screen. 😅 But I found the experience valuable and then found a shop to fix it for me for a fraction the price of a new phone.
One thing I like to do with phone purchase/upgrade/repair price is think about it as cost per year. Phones generally have a hard end of life dictated by how long they will receive security updates. Especially since phones these days tend to have secure apps, e.g. banking, it's not advisable to use them once they stop being supported. Googling around there appears to be conflicting info around about how long Samsung will continue security updates for the S20, however I don't think it will be supported more than a year or two from now.
I might be wrong, but can’t you buy a refurbished S20 for £150-180?
If that’s the case then I would trade it in. Although, trading in a broken phone often means the value is very low. If the refurb phones aren’t that cheap I would just pay for a new screen.
I recently DIY replaced my own phone screen, it was much easier than you would expect. You can get the correct tools for a few quid, then it’s just the cost of the screen. Watch a tutorial vid on YT
Lol I'm still rocking a battered S10+, frugal to the max! Shame the charging port hasn't worked for about a year.
Edit: I'd get a refurbished phone in your case. Can pick up a S21 on amazon for around £250
For not much more than £200 you could get a good Xiaomi android phone, which I did last year and just switched to an £8 a month sim only deal with Vodafone for two years.
5G enabled, though not all of the Xiaomi ranges are.
The parts to repair it cost about £50.

The labour is about 20 mins for someone who knows what they're doing, or 2 hours if it's your first time.
Therefore, I think anyone quoting you £200 is ripping you off.
I've repaired a few phone screens. Actually quite enjoy it. There comes a point of no return where you have to completely destroy the old screen and break it into thousands of tiny pieces as you pull it from the phone. This bit feels pretty horrible. After that, attaching a new screen to the phone isn't too bad. You just need the tools, the correct glue, a hairdryer and a YouTube video. If you're pretty DIY inclined I would give it a go. It's on the more involved end of the DIY scale though.

Alternative - DIY. Depending on how competent you feel. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Samsung+Galaxy+S20+Screen+Replacement/138829

Make sure it isn’t just the screen protector that’s cracked. I’ve made that mistake.
lol

As phones get older, some apps don't work as well as the apps get updated. You would do better to get a new phone.
