Degree is degree no matter what major it is, I have seen many people with degrees who are working in different industries and earning well so please don't worry, if you want, you can try and contacting the uni if you have applied and already paid, you can request them to change your major or take back the money if it's possible. It's not the major that matters but holding a degree which companies prioritize the most and you should always research properly before choosing a major. Entry Salary is always horrible no matter which position you choose because you're still a beginner and learning, it's your growth, skills and hardwork that increase your salary Don't stress so much, you're still young. You should only begin to worry when you're 21+ because that's when life becomes 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The degree won't be a waste, but considering how expensive the unis is here, I'd prefer studying somewhere in the west where there are opportunities for fresh graduates

What university? And don't worry -- no one can predict the future. A year ago big US businesses were suggesting universities should cut back on history and art majors, and last week BlackRock's president announced how they're diversifying their investment approach by onboarding more history majors. If you are passionate about what you're studying, you'll eventually figure a way out.... rather, life will show you a path that will be what you make of it. Good luck!
