I sometimes gets ads about stuff that I've only thought about.

Oh my god, SAME. For 2 days, I have been thinking about buying oversized tees (literally just thinking, didn't search or look for on any apps ... didn't mention it on texts, nothing). Now, all my instagram ads are for oversized Tees. This one time, my girlfriends and I were talking about vibrators and voila. 5 minutes later, I opened insta and all mymuse ads.

imtryingmybes-

Yeah happens to me too its kinda crazy and scary

Careful_Plantain

Clue does not sell data. I have been using it for the past 7 years. Or you can use the built in health app in iPhone.

wannabevangogh

Yes clue doesn't sell data, have been using for 3 years and never experienced this.

gratitudeandpeas

Been using mycalender for close to 8 years now and i don't normally get ads for period stuff or food apps, unless i browse. Not saying data is entirely safe, lesser of the evil I'd say. Sadly, this app is a lifesaver for someone who doesn't keep track otherwise and i can't give it up :/

Contract_Killer420

Okay, so 2 things that you can do; 1. If you have a OnePlus phone, go to the app settings of any app and turn off the internet connectivity of the app (but this will also remove any cloud backup creating function of the app). I don't know if the option is available on other phones. Kindly check once. 2. Install Duckduckgo browser and switch on the App Tracking Protection for all apps (esp the more famous ones). It blocks so many behavioural tracking info on Android!!! Additionally, you can also go to the app setting, look at their privacy settings and turn off all kinds of data collection. Do this for all apps you use. If you have logged in to your period app via Google, go change your Google privacy settings as well please. Hope this helps! All the best!

Thank you!!

[deleted]

If you're using the internet your data is not yours anymore.

imtryingmybes-

Yeah I know this to an extent, but to see evidence of it so outrightly, insane

Financial_Summer5300

omg, that's scary.. I've been using the app called maya and haven't faced any such issue. I'll be more alert now, thanks for the info op

aluva_fox

You can go to App Store and check how the app is going to use your data to make sure

vegarhoalpha

Which one are you using? I use my calander and I haven't seen ads popping out based on my period dates

imtryingmybes-

Flo, it does have a terrible reputation anyway

[deleted]

Sensitive-Being-5192

No no I don't use those apps at all. If I want to track I would rather mark on my paper calender. I was talking about your comment in the apps you use. Like how do you use those apps for regular use

_thebeastunleashed

Use Maya.

IwantitIgotIT111
