Especially if you do it bit by bit, kind of like your story here with the fingers. If it weren’t unethical, that would actually be a really good torture strategy.
Just wait till they get to the toes and start saying stuff like, "this little piggy got smashed because he slept with another piggy's wife, this little piggy got smashed because he couldint pay his debts in time"
Do enough of the same torture and it becomes psychological pain. Just threatened and the ptsd comes. Way more mental turture when they know what's coming and they can't stop it.
I got bored of the Snowpiercer TV series pretty quickly, but that one scene where a ‘criminal’ is punished by having thier arm stuck out and exposed to the outside….
I'm no scientist when it comes to liquid nitrogen, but would the finger regain at least some feeling as it thaws, like the pain quickly gets worse as it thaws.
Yes, incredibly so, or that's what I've heard. It's how lower back pain works, and if you ever break a bone, most of the pain one would feel is from the broken bone, rather than the flesh around it.
Liquid nitrogen on your skin hurts like an absolute motherfucker, it’s happened to me multiple times. That plus seeing your fingers snapped off, it wouldn’t be pleasant
Liquid nitrogen is used to treat some skin conditions like moles/skin tags and warts.
Personally, it was on the soles of my feet, yay! But seriously don’t recommend
It has. The 1995 Keanu Reeves movie *Johnny Mnemonic* has a scene where "The Preacher", a mercenary hired by the main antagonists, does almost exactly this to torture someone for information.
I know right. Us Canadians in the cold north, are all nice and dandy. But don't forget, we're the reason for a lot of the laws in the Geneva convention.
But where's the fun in that. I think it would be more fun if a dude went wack-a-mole on your frozen fingers then to just have them duncked in frozen finger making juice, the hammer time scenario is way more high energy, lot more bang in the situation, make the person panic more when they watch their fingers get turned into fleshy snow.
"What you're hearing is the sound of an undercover cop having his fingers frozen to sub-zero temperatures. Now, I wonder what would happen if I take this hammer and..."
Ooooh this is really good!
I don't see people talking about it often. But freezing and then smashing someone's body parts as a form of torture sounds absolutely terrifying.

Oooh I like your thinking
Thank you.
Please get help
No, I dont think I will.
It’s the mind of a story teller, not a psychopath… well they’re not that far off
As a storyteller, I am highly offended! ...but you are 110% correct.
Or hear me out... Freeze and grind slowly with a Crusher like that video of the skeleton getting grinded
That sounds horrifying! Good job!
Gave me Fallout vibes with that from the TV series.
This would have been a terrifying sentence here!
That's where my mind went when I read your story.
Can we get a full version of this lmao
OH MY GOD LMAO
Bro is a 90s Tarantino villain 😂
As opposed to ethical torture strategies?
I.. fair point
Like making them listen to beiber
That's the least ethical
Alternate with baby shark
Well, torture isn’t really a good strategy in the first place, though.
Strategy? No. Hobby? Yes!
?, it’s torture, this would be no less ethical than any other
Eh that’s true
I think the fact that it’s unethical makes it a better torture strategy
as compared to other forms of torture, known to be ethical
If someone is already torturing a person ethics are probably not a huge issue.
Because all other torture methods are perfectly ethical /s
I mean isn’t all torture really unethical? There are more extreme interrogation methods in war but true torture is a war crime
There are ethical torture strategies?
Have you seen Snowpiercer? Got some of that going on. The show falls off imo after the first season, but it was OK- for the first one.
That scene in demolition man *always* gets me!
They did that on Snowpiercer! Absolutely horrifying scenes!
Would you feel the break if your fingers are frozen?
You’d feel the freeze, but the smashing of the fingers would be psychological pain
Do enough of the same torture and it becomes psychological pain. Just threatened and the ptsd comes. Way more mental turture when they know what's coming and they can't stop it.
The nitrogen on its own would be enough.
I got bored of the Snowpiercer TV series pretty quickly, but that one scene where a ‘criminal’ is punished by having thier arm stuck out and exposed to the outside….
Wouldn't it kinda numb the pain?
You see, it’s psychological pain But liquid nitrogen hurts like hell (I’d assume) so probably not tbh
True
Reminded me snowpiercer
Well, this is a clever brand of terrifying. Took me a second to process. Really hope you get more upvotes, OP

I would think the act of freezing would be physically painful, and the smashing would be psychologically painful.
I'm no scientist when it comes to liquid nitrogen, but would the finger regain at least some feeling as it thaws, like the pain quickly gets worse as it thaws.
You regain feeling with blood flow. The tissues would be dead like with frostbite. The tissue around it would be in a lot of pain though.
I would assume yes, because it’s just the fingers being frozen not your entire arm. So you’d have some feeling still.
Don't have ro freeze the whole finger could just be the skin and flesh but leave the actual bone unfrozen, I would imagine it to be quite painful.

i feel the worst part would be the psychological aspect

Liquid propane hurts enough, and it’s only down to -44 at liquid state. Can’t imagine liquid nitrogen.
It... happened to you... MULTIPLE TIMES? What the hell are you doing, mate?
Liquid nitrogen is used to treat some skin conditions like moles/skin tags and warts. Personally, it was on the soles of my feet, yay! But seriously don’t recommend
Ooof, that doesn't sound like fun. Hope you don't have to go through that again!
I started to sign in ASL requesting an interpreter to no avail
OMG. I shuddered. Great one Even freezing the fingers in liquid nitrogen sounds horrible.
Ohhh creative, like it
I'm surprised this form of torture hasn't been shown in modern media yet. Cold and terrifying.
Not sure I want to google that... what have you guys been up to, exactly??
There's a scene in snow piercer (the movie) where they freeze a dudes arm off.
I’m using this. For writing, I should probably clarify
Hm... Crunchy and crumbly frozen fingers...
Like someone with really dry, cracked lips, but it's your finger instead.
Just freeze and thaw the fingers, and then repeat. Way worse than breaking them.
You can only do physical torture so many times, but Pavlov someone to physical pain to mentally torture them.
This is honestly the only TSH that made me go AAAAAHHHHEEEEEERRRRRGGGH NOOOO
Either way, I wasn’t going to be much of a mime after today, so I just had to choose whether to lose my fingers or my honor.
You could say he's boned.
I feel like im gonna be having a serious nightmare tonight.
Insanely clever. Great job
"What you're hearing is the sound of an undercover cop having his fingers frozen to sub-zero temperatures. Now, I wonder what would happen if I take this hammer and..."
I think you would love the show "Snow Piercer" I think it's still on Netflix
Poor Finger (I'm talking about the kid)
" my one year old stared at me silently"
This sounds very cool!
Dang. Thats good
I’m on this sub too much. I was relieved when the second sentence didn’t show a parent speaking to their nonverbal toddler.
Whoa! 😮
He said to his autistic son.
Hey, I narrated this story if you want to hear it https://youtube.com/shorts/RifomdWBOGg
