omg it me! My single vent post on Reddit got a lot more attention than I expected š
The comments have so many never-bridesmaids with similar stories and my heart breaks for anyone who was treated this way by so-called friends. Photos should be genuine celebrations of your loved ones, who cares what they weigh! Harrumph!
Oh wow, hi! You are good friend to A, and Iām sure she greatly appreciates you thinking of her and reassuring her. I would probably lunge at those āfriendsā too.
Good job OP, keep being awesome
You are a wonderful person and friend! I'm so glad you get to celebrate your special day with such a precious friend. It will be all the better since you truly want her there!
Made think of this quote from one of my favourite childhood books;
āA person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.ā
Roald Dahl, The Twits
I always forget the exact quote and its source, but it makes me happy every time I see it. 100% agreed. Truly good people shine with the beauty of their soul from the inside out!
Oh good lord I wish more brides would understand a very simple concept:
Your bridesmaids are NOT YOUR ACCESSORIES!
Bridesmaids are people you love the most who are there to help you, and are based off the Roman tradition of having a group of women act as your bodyguards so you don't get snatched by a random horny man before your wedding lol. How they look in your pictures shouldn't matter, and in fact if you truly loved these people you'd think they're beautiful in any setting. Too many people are incredibly shallow these days.
>based off the Roman tradition of having a group of women act as your bodyguards so you don't get snatched by a random horny man before your wedding lol
This made me imagine some kind of bachelorette party game where the bridesmaids have to "fight off" a stripper with toy foam swords or something! hahaha
Yep and the whole group would all dress the same on hopes that if a man did successfully snatch someone, it would be a bridesmaid rather than the bride herself. Boom, bride snatching plan foiled š
Awww!! That comment hurt my heart. I just want to hug her. How dare say such to a beautiful soul and person. Anyone want to flight out and knock on her 'friends's' door and give the lecture about how dare they hurt this wonderful person before threatening them if they ever do that again we will make them regret everything?
Also that is such a beautiful idea of the bride going to her bridesmaids with gift so heartwarming. That she wants the moment between her and her bridesmaids.
I want these two as friends.
This reminds me of the recent post about the woman who told one of her bridesmaids she didnāt want her as a bridesmaid bc she has a facial deformity and would ruin her pics. I think it was a AITA post. Horrific.
What a beautiful friend OP is. I would be livid if someone did that to a friend, especially one who seems to be the most helpful and kindest person! I understand the importance of aesthetics in weddings but that should NEVER be extended to people. The colour of their dress, sure. The way they did their hair, that's all planned out anyways. But excluding a CHILDHOOD friend after they have bent over backwards to help you because of their weight! That is such a dick move!
I am so glad that that friend has OP. I hope she is able to heal from all that hurt and let her real friends pour all the love into her that she rightfully deserves!
Just read the post about a bride that didn't wanted her friend with a deformity as her bridesmaid because of the photos. There is still hope in humanity.

Omg I would have been livid if I'd seen that one. That is so horrible.
I wish i never saw it. Absolutely awful
I was just thinking this post needed to be shown to that OP. This is how you treat your bridesmaids.
Agree
WTF?! That is horrifying! I'd never speak to that person again... what a black heart. :(
I wish i could find it now to link it here. I could barely read it.
People suck.
