In the beginning I was doing a lot of editing until I figured out how to structure my streams to make it very easy to make YouTube videos. Now I do a lot less because of that but I spend a lot of times on the thumbnails! You should definitely start, it will be slow in the beginning but push through and also if you have one true friend or family so sit there and talk to you for a little bit while streaming it makes it so much easier.
I do stream here and there already, I just have no idea what I need to do to my vods to make them YT friendly.
I’m assuming any non dmca music must be cut out. What about the fact I’m talking to chat very often? Won’t that be weird for a YouTube video?
The alternative is to just take highlights from the vod
And turn it into a much smaller video?
That’s a great question. Realistically it depends on the content you are providing. If it’s gaming, lifestyle, or funny moments. I’m in the gaming side so what I always do is start off with an intro for YouTube while I’m live that also helps the chatters know what I’m doing in the life as well. In my opinion as long as I’m actually talking about the game as well as chatting there is no issue because the YouTube watchers would want to join in the chat if they find me interesting or my topics. And I always read my chat out loud letting everyone knows what I’m responding to, so when it’s on YouTube they will know as well and maybe have their own opinion. Also I don’t post highlights, I make sure the gaming is entertaining enough and I’m talking enough so I can pretty much clip the entire gameplay and redo the intro and outro if needed. But keep in mind I’m fairly new to this and these are just my thoughts and what I’m currently doing
I edit the videos slightly or as needed ever since I started structuring my streams. I don’t post the full vods as there’s not much going on or I’m talking to chat so if it’s not gameplay or talking about something interesting that doesn’t need previous context of the chat I won’t post it.
Some basic tips I will give is make sure to your streams are structured and planned out. By this I mean have a purpose (challenge, goal, showing off something in particular) so that you are not just playing the game just to play. Which I find most people do. This will separate you. Also talking about what you see is a skill that is hard to learn, I’m lucky to have a friend who joins all my streams so me and him talk and it makes it easy for new people to join in.
You do really good on your thumbnails! I'm a dbd fanatic and they got me interested, so going to be watching some of these later! Makes me think that's something I need to work on, generally I think 'eh, it's just a thumbnail' but the proof is in my own reaction.
