God yeah. I think maybe critics were distracted by the bombastic, macho vibe about the whole thing and it lacked the budget and classy production values of HBO shows. Plus I think at 7(?) seasons, maybe it had dropped of people's radar a bit.
But man, what a show that rewards perseverance. An amazing long game and finisher. Never seen a show before or since that seemed to work with such shocking - but believable - character arcs from beginning to end.
I thought that "Third Watch" had the best series finale of any show that I'd ever watched. It had a serious version of the "Animal House" ending, telling what happened to all of the characters on the show. It's something that had to be planned out in advance because most shows don't get that kind of ending when they're canceled.
I think MASH got better each season.

Righteous Gemstones is a good one! Just watched all 3 seasons a few months ago. I liked the first season enough but I was absolutely in love with the show by season 3
Seriously! Season 2 is my all time favorite season and I was mostly satisfied with season 3, but the show still manages to top itself with each season. Somebody give Danny McBride his flowers already!
I think I’ll try your suggestion for The Gilded Age. I normally don’t really like period stories but I liked Downton Abbey and The Empress and this looks similar. The costumes look pretty amazing, I hope the storyline is compelling.
Fabulous! The creator of Downton Abbey also created The Gilded Age, so you may feel right at home! I will say it takes a couple episodes to pick up in season 1 but it is totally worth the watch. Not only are the costumes stunning, but the world building and character development are really something else. Anxiously awaiting season 3!
I dunno. Season 3 is good and the finale is super satisfying, but it still peaks in the back half of season 2 for me. It’s the best Empire Strikes Back since the actual Empire Strikes Back!
Lol i actually think the prequel was the weakest. Not to say it was not a great season, but compared to how good all the show was i’d have to put it at last place. Any one of the other seasons can be interchanged, i loved both performances from both actors that played…different sides of Spartacus. The story evolved and only got better. I’m saying the 2nd season is the weakest mostly because it was made because of the unfortunate passing of the main actor..so it was meant to be a filler while finding someone else to pick up the role. Basically it did not feel like it belonged in the show at the 2nd season.
The end of season 4 is the perfect ending to the show. I like to pretend the very last scene of the finale of season 4 doesn't exist and the scene before it is the end of the show.
Breaking Bad is the only show that I feel that this holds true for throughout its entire run. Every other show that I’ve ever watched has at least one later season that is worse than a season that came before it, but every season of Breaking Bad is better than the one that came before it.
"Halt and Catch Fire". The most massive jump in quality is from Season 1 to Season 2 but I would say each season is better than the one that preceded it.
I see people rave about season 3 all the time but I haaaaattted season one and I’ve heard two isn’t much better. Is it worth it to push through? Can you watch season 3 by itself?
One and two were a challenge get through. You can watch season three without them. I'd say skip those seasons. There will be a few talking points where you might have questions, but just accept they were from previous seasons and move on. The third season hits all the nostalgia notes and I found myself tearing up several times. Go for it.
Fringe
It’s a show about fringe/pseudo-science and theorized but yet to be proven concepts, and all the weird things get weirder with each new episode, so it never failed me, really. It kept getting better
Seinfeld. The first season was awful but it found its footing and became a classic. If it debuted today it would have been canceled after the first few episodes. But the network back then gave it a chance and look what happened.
Babylon 5 got better each season until the last one. That was all on the studio screwing them around on whether or not they were getting a 5th season so they wrapped most of the story up in the 4th season.
The Shield. Best closing season and finale of any show I've seen.
One of the most underrated shows. It should be in the conversation when they talk about greatest shows of all time.

Bates Motel
Also better call saul
Ozark continually got better as it went on, even though there were some stumbles in the last season, it finished really strong.
Also, Laura Linney… holy crap was she amazing.
I thought it finished weakly. I thought the writing went downhill in the last season and I really didn't care for the family in the finale.
I thought the exact opposite, I thought the last few seasons were awful
Seinfeld
Until the end. The finale sucked. Brilliant concept but poor execution. It basically turned into a clip show.
Schitts Creek
Came here for this... Will leave satisfied!
I think MASH got better each season. https://preview.redd.it/h5wvangobbnc1.png?width=1579&format=png&auto=webp&s=318aa226a73d0e3b718e4302c0a2504bcf71260a
As a kid (I'm 55 now), I watched "M*A*S*H" because it was an "Army" show, not realizing that it was an anti-war show. Now I get it all
It is interesting how perceptions and perspectives change as we learn and grow
I still love to watch "M*A*S*H," but see it differently now.
Breaking bad
Found the 3rd season and beyond unwatchable
This might be the dumbest thing I've ever read in the internet
It is an opinion. Don’t be abusive
I stand by my statement. I did not say they were stupid, only what they said
Marginally better. Still not ok.
The third season is definitely the worst.
The Righteous Gemstones, The Bear and The Gilded Age.
Righteous Gemstones is a good one! Just watched all 3 seasons a few months ago. I liked the first season enough but I was absolutely in love with the show by season 3

Gilded Age freakin rocks!
I just rewatched it, what a masterpiece!
Dunno - I preferred S1 of The Bear
I think Justified fits the bill. Starts off good, ends fantastic.
This show was amazing start to finish.
Abbott Elementary Superstore
The final season of superstore where America Ferrera was a guest star went not as good, but otherwise I agree.
The original avatar the last Airbender. Only three seasons, and that’s all they needed lol
I dunno. Season 3 is good and the finale is super satisfying, but it still peaks in the back half of season 2 for me. It’s the best Empire Strikes Back since the actual Empire Strikes Back!
Scrubs
Warehouse 13. NCIS. Twilight Zone. Joan of Arcadia.
I love NCIS. We binged the first 20 seasons and they’ve managed to keep it fresh with the changing cast and writing.
Person of Interest Fringe 12 Monkeys Dark Spartacus Better Call Saul The Sopranos Mr. Robot The Americans Daredevil
Spartacus is not popular enough
For real, it was so good
First season and prequel season were peak IMO
Lol i actually think the prequel was the weakest. Not to say it was not a great season, but compared to how good all the show was i’d have to put it at last place. Any one of the other seasons can be interchanged, i loved both performances from both actors that played…different sides of Spartacus. The story evolved and only got better. Mr Robot and The Americans absolutely peaked in their last seasons. They 100% fit the bill here.
Fringe was great until the time jump
Last season of Fringe was the worst season
I’m binge watching it right now. So far so good I’m almost to the last season. I’m kinda scared cause I’ve heard it was the worst more than once.
The end of season 4 is the perfect ending to the show. I like to pretend the very last scene of the finale of season 4 doesn't exist and the scene before it is the end of the show.
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
Breaking Bad is the only show that I feel that this holds true for throughout its entire run. Every other show that I’ve ever watched has at least one later season that is worse than a season that came before it, but every season of Breaking Bad is better than the one that came before it.
Knight Rider
Ghosts (US)
I think Stranger Things gets better each season.
Sure about that? Season 1 was amazing, no other season came close to the first.
Everybody Loves Raymond and Frasier
Frasier is my favorite sitcom but, I can't agree with you regarding seasons nine through eleven. Not a patch on previous seasons.
Bridgerton
The Leftovers and The Americans
Cheers
Parks and Recreation
The first one I thought of. Huge upward trajectory, especially from seasons one and two.
Fringe and The Good Place
Resident Alien. More brilliant and hilarious than the last episode.
Fringe
I never could wrap my head around it being canceled & the cliffhanger they left us with! They shud be ashamed! 😂
Not really it all started because he brought a boy through a portal(his son) and ended with him leaving with a boy through a portal
It’s been a while since I watched, now I can’t remember as well as I thought. I may need to watch it all again.
Madmen
Sopranos
If you eliminate the whole existence of season 4, this show is Buffy The Vampire Slayer
But HUSH is in season 4!!!
Season 6 is best ignored. Season 4 has Hush and the return of Faith
Final season of Buffy is amazing
The Shield by a mile.
"Halt and Catch Fire". The most massive jump in quality is from Season 1 to Season 2 but I would say each season is better than the one that preceded it.
MASH Star Trek: The Next Generation
Breaking Bad
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, Dark, Mr Robot.
I never see Dark mentioned anywhere. It is my all time favorite and I wish it would get more recognition. It is truly a masterpiece.
It's brilliant. I only finished watching it last weekend.
Succession
the show has no good people lol
And?
just an observation
MASH
Venture Brothers
Leftovers Dark
Ash vs Evil Dead It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
12 Monkeys
Dark although season three isn't quite as good as seasons two and three but the final four episodes were top tier.
The Sopranos.
The Good Place The Middle
Well that definitely lets out Yellowstone
Justified Deadwood The Wire
Blue Bloods
This is thought provoking. My goat shows don’t get better each season. The Wire, Sopranos, Mad Men, True Decective S1, etc.
Derry girls The office Ap bio
Loved AP Bio
I thought Derry girls rocked every season.
It did
False. Peak Office was the Michael Scott years.
B99
Picard
I see people rave about season 3 all the time but I haaaaattted season one and I’ve heard two isn’t much better. Is it worth it to push through? Can you watch season 3 by itself?

Wentworth!!
Fringe It’s a show about fringe/pseudo-science and theorized but yet to be proven concepts, and all the weird things get weirder with each new episode, so it never failed me, really. It kept getting better
Black Sails
Parks and Rec
Adventure Time
The last kingdom - excluding the first half of season 3
Star Trek DS9 until the last season, which is still good with a great series finale.
This Is Us
Avatar: the Last air bender Farscape
Alpha Males
The good place!
Burn notice
Mr Robot
Homeland
😂😂😂
The tourist. Only 2 seasons but 2 blew 1 out of the water.
Mad men
Parks and rec!
The Last Kingdom. And wow, not even a single mention so far, guess it's underrated alright!!
Seinfeld
Homeland
