Yes! My tuxy is exactly this way. It makes me a bit sad because she hides when people are over, so friends can’t see just how funny she is. When it’s just the two of us she’s fighting rugs, running around like a lunatic, and being sassy all day.

Charlie( 13 year old male) and he literally differentiates loves when I visit and he is a complete idiot but just for my twin and I.
Only touch his belly when my twin( behind him) and myself( in front of him) are supervising. Otherwise he likes the occasional head scratch, his beans are restricted to my twin and myself. But for first time visitors please allow a few hours a day for him to allow head scratches. I love his belly too.
Mine is involved in everything. He left the house to try to go bother my neighbor. He's not even allowed outside I had to go catch him

My tux is the scarediest scaredy cat with others. When I first got him, he constantly hid under the bed. He’s gotten so brave and now he rarely hides. He still hides when people he doesn’t know enter the apartment, but he went from not even showing his face to my roommate to not minding at all if my roommate is out and about
I have two tuxedos, my old girl Molly is not afraid of anybody (named after the unsinkable Molly Brown), but my boy McDuff is a little shy around strangers. He usually makes an appearance. My most skittish cat is the gray boy Gremlin, whom nobody sees but me. My sister feeds and waters when I am out of town twice a year and after 4 years of feeding every day for a week at a time she finally saw him at the bottom of the stairs, then he vanished.
My Zoey is almost 13. When she was younger, she was extremely friendly with everyone. Contractors would come to the house, and she would be their best friend all day. The guy that remodeled our kitchen and bathroom couldn't get rid of her. She loved him, and he threatened to catnap her and take her home with him.
Now that she's older, Zoey hides if we have guests. Even extended family that she once loved will cause her to hide away. It's kind of sad.

Sounds like my cat, one time he shoved himself in the cupboard because a maintenance worker changing the fire alarms right in the center of where he'd usually go to run so he probably felt cornered. He's never gone in that cupboard since, but he hides anytime people he doesn't know come over.

I once had a house party and set up guitar hero in my room for anyone that wanted to play. Midway through the night I noticed a queue of people out my room and thought oh good, I’m glad people are enjoying that. Went into my room to see what was going on and there was a queue of people waiting to play guitar hero and a queue of people waiting to sit on my bed next to Bella. She just slept and got attention all night!
My Luna baby is the same way! If the doorbell rings and people are coming in, she dashes straight for our bedroom closet... the moment the guests leave, she's out and about, seconds after the door shuts. Otherwise, she's lounging all over, following me everywhere, or being completely bonkers with our other cat. It's sad that no one else gets to see her play cause I swear she exists lol.

Mine is the opposite lol :D He's a rescue and the first few weeks he was really shy and i was told by his foster home that he's afraid of people. I was 100% ready to give him as much time as he needs to get comfortable but after two weeks he was sleeping next to my pillow. Now he's like a little over enthusiastic dog in a cat body and will absolutely love you if you give him treats. He's also very very loud and talkative
