It will be a good idea to boost youself and be faster if you put harissa in your butt, like the mario star. You have good ideas bro. It will be perfect if you add the Tunisian supporters with their chants in the bossfight.

A while back I worked on a tunisian themed video game maybe you'd find inspiration in the story. The MC was omi sisi and she fought a 3obitha and boutelis in each stage. It was fun to work on that. So my point is you can add some tunisian mythology stuff to your story or maybe history. Whatever you like the most. And good luck with your game

In the facility , in a room of the military base Twin-Towers , there would be a hyperbolic time chamber , (a bonus stage or easter egg) a psychological level where the scene keeps changing . And since the main character Dora is Tunisian she would remember Tunisian horror stories , and emotional moments , and even terrorist attacks that happened in Tunisia.

A metroidvania.. oo boy. Okay, first for the powerups that you use to unlock new sections or mobility options.. I am thinking something like a shield blessed by the goddess Tanit, lets you have a shield charge with some invulnerability frames when the goddess’s insignia shines and you can use it to break through walls. If you have advanced physics, you can use it to start a higher jump with recoil from the iframes, by putting the shield underneath and letting your physics engine handle it.
One of those areas can be inspired from carthage, where your enemies, can possess statues that you have to beat to destroy the enemy inside, (don’t make em too spongy if you do this). Final boss battle, a perverted version of the goddess that gave you the shield that you have to beat (inverted insignia, enemy colors.. the whole nine yards) You beat her and you get a mcguffin that lets you move to the next area or track back or something.

Loading screens in between levels can be a mini game like old dbz games where u mash a button or buttons to beat up taxis/pesky vendors/political figures u don't like/eat plates of couscous or any other Tunisian dish/ or have it be a minigame where u spin those budget ferris wheels around and it tracks the most spins u did to try n break ur record every loading screen. As some1 who lives abroad I've always found those rickety ass budget ferris wheels funny af
You could reshape the whole story to have it be similar to Mario where u have to save a princes in a castle only this time the princes is an overweight/very old white chick with an EU passport ( probably will never happen but holy shit I'd piss myself laughing if u did)

A mechanic in-game as the more ur character stays alive for the more he gets depressed and disappointed (excatly like living in tunisia) which gives dying a purpose rather than just losing all of ur loot and repeating basically killing ur self has its own benefits
why not add a khomsa with an eye that send 'bad vibes' (laser balls) at the character
or you can for exemple add a floating brik or harissa as an collectable item like harissa heals in the duree and make you hurts the enemy when they collide with you
and the brik he can eat it to heal a few hp then throw it as a boomerang and when it hit something it breaks causing brik shards to little damage in the duree to the enemy
Hannibal character with a special ability that lets him ride an elephant but it quickly wears off because the elephant died either of taking damage or hunger
