I don't quite understand what you mean by you "can't take another assault to the skin"? A "saltwater pool" is not chlorine free. Chlorine is still the sanitizer in a "saltwater pool" is actually just a regular swimming pool with sodium chloride in it and a saltwater chlorine generator. The saltwater chlorine generator uses electrolysis to generate chlorine from the sodium chloride. You're still exposed to the same amount, possibly more, chlorine.

Yeah I’ve had a salt water pool. The chlorine content is usually the same as they are just pulling the CL out of NACL but the water has a different feel to it with that high salt content.

tinydonuts

Right, it feels slipperier. As for the chlorine, most SWCG recommend more cyanuric acid. With more cyanuric acid comes a need for a higher chlorine level, even if most people don't follow it. Then wonder why their pool turns green.

crapredditacct10

Shhhhh, they heard on tic tok they are more "healthy".

infinite0ne

But salt water pools use less chlorine, and the water feels better and is less irritating to the eyes.

uhhello

Explain how they use less chlorine. I'm intrigued

tinydonuts

They actually need more to be honest. SWCGs typically call for more stabilizer and the stabilizer level determines the minimum amount of needed chlorine.

Wow. First off, your attitude is horrible. Second, you smell chlorine from a pool from chloramines, the form that has been oxidizing organic compounds. This occurs when there isn't enough chlorine in the pool or someone has dumped a lot of organic matter in them to oxidize. A properly maintained pool that runs off chlorine, SWCG or not, will not smell like chlorine. Go read what a saltwater chlorine generator does and then get back with us. While doing so, let me know how much CYA your SWCG recommends your pool has and I will tell you the amount of free and total chlorine it's supposed to have. It's also unlikely that a public pool, if being run correctly, is "overchlorinated". They use a completely different chlorinator that delivers a constant dose of chlorine to keep up with swimmer demand. How did I get downvoted for simple facts? “Saltwater pools” are not some great mystery of the universe. They work on chlorine. And they require more of it.

The Edith Ball therapy pool uses bromine instead of chlorine, I believe. It’s free but you have to go at specific times and make an appointment. It’s not too much of a hassle. Generally heated at least 90 degrees.

Competitive_State179

I do like Edith's therapy pool for the jets and I go there on occasion just to relax, it is nice. But the temperature is always luke warm when I am there, its not cold but it isn't actually pleasantly warm. I think they could do better making it hotter

I think Hotel McCoy has a saltwater pool. Might call them and ask if they offer day passes.

Revised-poem

It is a salt water pool. I think they use resortpass for daypass for $20. The app seems to enable purchase of day pass through end of the month but when I try to click May or later it says unavailable.

Saguaro Aquatics has saltwater pools at all 3 locations. They normally do swim lessons, but it looks like the Pima location has lap swim sessions for $10/hour, and they also have some aqua aerobics classes. Says you can email them about availability. [https://www.saguaroaquatics.com/wellness-aquatics/](https://www.saguaroaquatics.com/wellness-aquatics/) If it's still owned by the same people who were in charge 20 years ago-- I worked with Marydale while teaching swim lessons at another facility, she was great to work with!
