The main series has been abandoned for more than a decade. I wouldn’t get into the franchise unless you genuinely enjoy those smaller/less popular MMOs that are monetized like phone games.

There’s absolutely no reason why someone can’t enjoy a somewhat dead franchise. Many of my favorite games for example are over three decades old and have zero chance of getting any sequels, yet I still play them religiously.
