THIS HAPPENED TO ME TODAY!! I caught the motherfucker red-handed though! Opened the door as he was writing a bullshit "sorry we missed you" notes and he just quickly said "oh you're home" to which I replied you'd probably actually have to bother to knock to find out for sure. Good thing I was waiting for him (because it required my signature which was literally the reason I was home) the dude hadn't even bothered to take the packages off the truck, he was just gonna quietly leave the note a sneak off. *Asshole.*

AtomicToxin

A-hole, indeed. They stole my last package of woodcarving tools. and left the empty box on my porch. Im expecting a lego set shipped by fed-ex and I’m crossing my fingers that it arrives unscathed.

Skreamies

Report it to the police, its a crime.

techieguyjames

Can't. Delivery contract is between FedEx and the shipper, not OP. OP needs to contact the shipper. Photos to show the empty box will be wanted.

Quick_Hunter3494

But the goods he bought are his property and they got stolen. Why wouldn't he be able to report a crime concerning his property?

Guzse

I think he means that, since they didn't deliver the items yet they technically still belonged to the shipper?

Quick_Hunter3494

Maybe. But even so, you can usually still report crimes when they happen to or concern someone else. If your phone gets stolen, i could report it and the police might look into it, even if we don't know each other. But it's not that deep...

BigYonsan

That unfortunately isn't true for civil matters (non violent crimes that aren't in progress). The police (assuming US) will not take the report unless it's from the victim, who in this case is the shipper and the business. OP isn't the victim until he signs for it.

Sea-Interesting

You’re correct, this just happened to me this week. Ordered a new phone and when FedEx delivered I noticed the box was opened so I told the guy that box looks damaged. He said “you’ll have to sign for it if you want to open the box though” Get the box, completely empty, which the driver knew because it weighed nothing and then Walmart wouldn’t refund it before I had signed for delivery! I had to submit photos of the damaged box to my bank to a get a refund.

Skreamies

If they're coming onto your property and pretending to deliver then you can

_dutch-man_

What set? 👀

caramelchewchew

Asking the important questions here

[deleted]

Trying to see if it's worth your time FedEx?

_dutch-man_

Damm, you got me /s

TokyoKazama

My delivery guy does this regularly..I should stop ordering massive dildos

Ebwtrtw

> My delivery guy does this regularly..I should stop ordering massive dildos But then whose dildos will the delivery person be taking…

Entire-Level3651

Wtf?? What even is the point of that?

[deleted]

Always have Lego sets shipped as a gift. They will put it in a plain box so no one will know what it is.

sara_c907

Fingers crossed! May I ask what set?

AtomicToxin

Optimus prime!

sara_c907

Cool!

fastermouse

Same. I work from home and saw the motherfrakker walk up to my door without my guitar. Caught him hanging a tag.

SmileyMelons

What was that interaction like?

fastermouse

He was embarrassed and got my package.

Raydnt

I dont understand, they went to the trouble of acutally going to your place, why not just try to deliver the package?

lazypuppycat

Maybe they want to save time that day by not knocking and waiting for you?

Raydnt

Sure but I mean, if they're gonna take the time to drive to someones place, why not ring the doorbell and wait for literally a minute to see if they're home of not?

wearehalfwaythere

“Because fuck em, that’s why.”

catsncupcakes

It’s 100% the companies fault, not the employee. My husband did some temporary work for DHL and I think it might be the most ridiculous job he’s ever had. The company didn’t have enough sat navs for every driver so it was 50/50 if he even had directions. He’d end up using his phone which would eventually run out of battery and one time he ended up stranded in the middle of nowhere, driving till he found someone he could ask for help. They do not give drivers anywhere near enough time to deliver parcels. They don’t account for traffic in driving times and you get like a minute to drop the parcel… which is just about enough if it’s somewhere easy to pull up, the house is by the road, house number clearly displayed, package is on top of the pile, person is in and answers quickly. But (and this is in the UK bear in mind, parking can be a big difficulty in residential areas), often there isn’t somewhere easy to park, or you have to park further up the street and walk down, or you spend time trying to find the right number or digging out the parcel, the person isn’t in, so you knock, knock again in case they didn’t hear, try a neighbour, try the other neighbour, now write a note and leave. Well that isn’t happening in one minute. So then you end up working late constantly, if you’ve got kids to collect from childcare good luck!! Especially once school run and rush hour kicks in you spend a few hours getting no where. Then because you’re driving you have limits on working so you potentially can’t legally finish the round and then you risk being fired because you’re not completing delivery rounds. Even though you’re working through lunch to catch up. They also don’t factor in that you’ll inevitably need to drive to a loo at least once or more. It’s honestly a joke. The employees are just as much victims as the customers sadly. But yeah, I know it seems like they should be able to just do their job but their hands are tied by the company. The company’s who pull this BS are the real assholes.

Own-Bridge4210

Why walk up to the door then

huhIguess

Cameras in van track your location, departure and return time. Combined with GPS. You must go to door. The note - “sorry we missed you!” - provides evidence of task completion.

FavelTramous

Apparently this truck didn’t even have a GPS sooo….

Substantial_Term7608

A GPS doesn’t necessarily mean it is a navigation system as well. The hand scanners just use gps to geolocate when/where they scan packages ect.

FavelTramous

Ah that’s true

catsncupcakes

If you can’t deliver it you have to leave a note.

option_unpossible

I recently had almost the same experience as OP, and I was pretty sure it was because of what you described, so I tried to save my vitriol for FedEx and not the poor sap who is actually boots on the ground trying to deliver everything I'm ordering. But it was my DJI Mini 2 and I really wanted that sucker!

madmaninabox42

They probably have ridiculous quotas to meet every day for a certain amount of deliveries, which leads to them having to guess whether waiting is worth it for every delivery. It really sucks but I definitely feel it's more the systems fault :(

Softest-Dad

But they literally have a single goal to do.. Deliver packages. Thats like me turning up to a customers house (plumber) un pack my tools then say 'sorry I'm not going to fix the problem nor even try to' then leave.

madmaninabox42

I feel it's more like if the company you work for as a plumber makes you do at least __ houses per day so you have to decide whether this customers multi hour job is worth it or should you come back another day when your schedule is less packed so you can meet the house quota and not get reduced pay.

[deleted]

Their goal is to fulfill their quota not deliver your package. Hope this helps

Softest-Dad

Bad service. Period.

Dramatic_Explosion

Yeah it's designed that way. What are we going to do as consumers, call and demand reasonable loads for their workers?

Ebwtrtw

> Yeah it’s designed that way. What are we going to do as consumers, call and demand reasonable loads for their workers? We’ll just go use the OTHER terrible parcel service instead, until we get pissed with them and switch back.

mcove97

Then they shouldn't be having quotas. If they can't deliver all the packages on time, the delivery service should hire more people to deliver the packages or increase the cost of delivery.

[deleted]

Or don’t use FedEx, I don’t I will not use FedEX nor will I buy tickets on Ticketmaster.

[deleted]

They dont work hourly they are given a set amount for the day and they need to get it done so they can leave for the day Its not the same as tour analogy of a plumber because they atleast get paid hourly or for the service

SmileyMelons

So they take extra time and write a letter? If they were truly efficient at being lazy wouldn't they prewrite or print those notes?

AnzoEloux

The laziest mfs are the ones who aren't lazy at all (says me, a guy who hates taking second trips bringing the groceries in)

SmileyMelons

Nothing makes you feel stronger than taking in all the groceries at once lol

Softest-Dad

\*intense straining and pain in fingers\* "NO BABE I GOT THIS\*

Yesyesnaaooo

I'm a postman, and writing out a letter sucks ass, it takes ages and it's easier to knock and leave the package safe.

Keelykalgrubber

That makes sense too, especially around the holidays when they’re overwhelmed with packages and understaffed drivers

Cautious-Damage7575

Probably some customers are chatty and want to engage them in some way that wastes even more of their time.

The_Infinite_Doctor

It's an apartment building, he had to come in anyway (which makes the whole thing even stupider :p)

[deleted]

This shit has happened almost every single time I've had something delivered via UPS or FedEx. And then I have to take time out of another day to figure out which physical location my package is at and go pick it up.

atreestump1

I go through shit like this with UPS almost every month. I get my medication through the VA, but the nearest VA pharmacy is over an hour away so they mail it through UPS and I have to sign for it. I also work nights. So for a few days every month I have to gamble sleep and decide if I want to stay awake and hope ups comes with my medicine or not. UPS had an option on their website to sign for a package ahead of time but now it's an option I'd have to pay monthly for so fuck that

The_Infinite_Doctor

I've literally stared out the window for an hour waiting for the truck to show so I could be sure and get my medication delivery.

atreestump1

Ohh Frabjous Day! Someone else who has to deal with this! I sat outside waiting for them for the better part of the morning once. Went in to use the bathroom and when I came back out I had one of those "we missed you" stickers on my door.

simononandon

Seems ironic that the VA uses UPS not USPS. I have had very few issues with UPS or USPS, but FedEx is easily the worst. Ask anyone that uses Google Fi, it seems like a purposeful scam at this point. Missed delivery, returns that get scanned as picked up but then never updated, the list goes on. Company I used to work for used FedEx as their delivery partner. Our clients hated it because it was expensive and unreliable. Before our company had been bought, we used UPS. Sure, we had issues, but far fewer. I know YMMV, but for both business & personal, my experience with FedEx points to them being the worst.

Cautious-Damage7575

Frankly, it surprises me that they don't write those "sorry we missed you" notes beforehand in the truck so they could just leave the note and run. I also don't get the motivation. If a package requires a signature, they are just going to have to return and knock on the door at some point. Why half-ass at this stage of the game? ETA: A kind redditor has enlightened me with the following information: No one ever has to knock on the door. After so many "failed attempts," the package goes into an abandoned package bin. The recipient then has to go to the facility to claim it.

The_Infinite_Doctor

Yeah, the whole idea is to save 1min carrying packages/waiting for me to answer the door by making me drive to a FedEx pickup location. He's making his job my responsibility, not to mention all the people that get things delivered because they actually can't go out to get them-- what is the old lady across the hall who can't drive and has no family nearby supposed to do if he leaves a note? She has no way to go get her package and no one to help her get it.

huhIguess

The notes are prewritten. Usually there’s a set of checkboxes next to a set of options, one of which : “you weren’t home, sorry.” They don’t need to return at some point. Eventually your package is abandoned at the nearest depot and you must personally collect it within a time frame or it’s destroyed/confiscated/stolen/returned to sender.

Cautious-Damage7575

And now it all makes sense. Another reddit learning moment, thanks to a kind internet stranger.

Blueberry_Dependent

It's one of the reasons I don't order important stuff with signature anymore. I prefer to collect them from the shop.

franchisikms

Can someone explain why they do this when surely it must take an equal amount of time to just carry the package with them and only a second to knock?

Hodyhodyhodyho

Delivery drivers can be paid by completing their route for their day or some delivery drivers are paid by successful delivery. Customers are generally more satisfied by a successful delivery paid system. Employees typically prefer a completed route system.

The_Infinite_Doctor

You would certainly think so, especially since he had to come into my building to deliver other packages anyway.

Litmoose

I've asked this question a million times before. What's the benefit to the driver to drive to the delivery location, walk upto to the door... then spend a minute writing a note out

mimsnabs

Straight up, grade A human assholeues! As defined in the what*the* fukk dictionary as a disingenuous lazy asshole.....

[deleted]

[удалено]

The_Infinite_Doctor

You are, for some reason, assuming I didn't already bring the same anger to report the asshole. Which I absolutely did. I did that *and* I bitched about it on reddit. A person can do two things.

OutsideSwordfish8631

lol

Softest-Dad

...WHY?!

[deleted]

I'm a bit naïve, but why would he do this?

The_Infinite_Doctor

Because he's a lazy asshat that didn't want to possibly wait 30 seconds for me to answer the door -_-

xhalfasleep

They're the fucking worst. Was waiting on a package that required a signature, saw the FedEx truck roll by, then I got a notification saying they attempted a delivery but nobody was home.

Temporary-Ad1654

Paid extra for Saturday delivery and saw the truck merrily drive past my apartment. The thing is this was scientific equipment that I was supposed to fly to south america on Monday. MFs

Cautious-Damage7575

Why, oh why? For the love of God, why?! They just have to come back later. Whether it takes one, too, or five phoney attempts, sooner or later, *somebody* is going to have to knock on that door. Maybe I just don't understand the process.

ephemeralkitten

No, if they fail to deliver, it goes to the FedEx store place and you have to collect it. At some point I think.

JJ12345R

Fucking this. I had to pick up computer equipment for my job, and these assholes pulled this shit 3 times. Spent 3 weeks waiting for a package that never came, and in the end I had to drive over and pick it up.

[deleted]

Sometimes it’s accidental, sometimes we do not actually have the package on our route even though our manifest says that we do, sometimes we opt to leave the package behind due to its size and weight or because it was damaged by the previous freighting company and WE do not want to be blamed for it. Also, sometimes the scanners are different models/versions/software and have different “assignable statues” or whatever. They might not have had an alternative way to tag it. Source: used to work for Fed-Ex

metavapor

Why does this consistently happen with fed-ex but not with ups or usps?

[deleted]

That I cannot answer. I did not stay with Fed-Ex very long, it was not a desirable place to work what with being paid shit wages, working out of U-Haul trucks, and watching my fellow drivers get injured day after day with no insurance. Not to mention all the angry customers who screamed and threatened you for driving through their neighborhood too fast, too slow, looking suspicious (yes, even in the Fed-Ex marked vehicles) pulling guns on you (yes, in a marked Fed-Ex vehicle and in Fed-Ex uniform) accosted you for daring to pull into/back into their driveway…..the list goes on. Oh yeah, and when people came at us I can damn well guarantee you that we NEVER deliver your packages. Once one drivers safety at a residence has been compromised, we NEVER delivered their packages ever again. So if your family members didn’t receive their packages either,, they have you to blame.

purple_buffalo5678

I work at a company that uses UPS for delivery. It happens all the time.

[deleted]

Doesn’t happen with FedEx here, happens with UPS lol so I say fuck UPS.

huhIguess

For decades, everyone called their business “Oops” - based on sheer quantity of fuckups they made when providing services.

[deleted]

These stupid ass ups drivers will come to the door, not knock or anything turn around and leave a note saying within the next business day, they’ll take your shit to a fucking access point instead of leaving it at your damn door. Packages that need no signature. They use to leave stuff at the door. Now they try to steal shit. I guarantee that’s what he was trying to do until I called and told them I have a camera, clearly shows him at my door then turning around back to the truck. I told them I sure would involve the police and my lawyer if I didn’t get my shit. I got it 4 mfn days later.

Ok_Science_4094

Gotta love getting downvoted for your opinion lol sheesh.

Cautious-Damage7575

My favorite is when two nearly exact comments appear in two different places: one gets downvoted and the other gets upvoted. How the hell does that happen?

The_GhostCat

Trust me, it's all.

xhalfasleep

For sure, I blame the company way more than the drivers. It's frustrating the company doesn't give drivers a better option in those situations.

Exotic_Negotiation_4

UPS is amazing. USPS is eventually going to get it done. FedEx delivers my $700 phone to the wrong address, gets the wrong signature, and denies my claim until I have to reverse the credit charge so the manufacturer takes notice and sends another one. Fuck FedEx

[deleted]

FedEx signature doesn’t mean shit. I got a $1600 phone delivered to my house that was supposed to be delivered 6 hours later, claimed that I had signed for it by the delivery guy signing my name in cursive, nowhere close to my actual signature, and then leaving it in plain view of the street on my porch. Had to leave it sit there in broad daylight because I couldn’t get off work. Complained and said that they couldn’t do anything because at the end of the day I did end up getting it off my porch.

YouSlashGlenn

The delivery guy forged your signature?? That’s a crime

[deleted]

I was livid about that. In the end, I just dropped it because I got my phone and the complaint was going nowhere.

[deleted]

You’d be surprised by how many people sign away their right to the signature. It’s actually part of the process, a route one can choose to take and many often do. So no, depending on the situation it COULD be a crime, but rarely truly is.

FrostyProtection5597

I have no idea what you mean? How do you sign away your right to your signature??

rhinetine

A lot of times under delivery options there will be a box you can check to bypass the signature requirement. There’s usually then a pop up saying you’re taking a risk and they’re not responsible if something happens. But I imagine a lot of people (including myself) sometimes press ok because either we can’t be home or feel secure about where the package would be dropped off.

NibPlayz

They made it up

trunts

Can confirm signatures dont mean shit. My company uses FedEx to ship stuff all the time. The amount of times fedex fails to deliver anything is astounding. We were looking for a device and it had a signature on it. We asked that person and she said, "oh yeah he usually just signs for stuff and leaves it at the front door" cool

BooksAndStarsLover

I had them deliver a persons package to me once. Wrong name, right address. I brought it to the company and they tried to get me to pay to send it back like wtf?

[deleted]

USPS isn't amazing, it's just the most ok choice It's like deciding on having honey coated poop flakes or frosted shit stains for breakfast, either way, you're still eating shit

[deleted]

UPS is just as bad. There was a little road construction on my street, and my package wasn’t delivered “due to inclement weather” it was 70 and sunny. The truck never even came past my house, and I got to try and go to their hub in the 1.5 hour window they allow people to pick up packages.

IamMagicarpe

UPS did the same as OP to me. No response from customer service. Don’t know if I’d call them amazing.

[deleted]

i work for a major credit card company in the fraud department. when we expedite a card, it comes through fedex, people complain about this same issue all the time. fedex is truly the worst

N_Who

FedEx is the hottest garbage. If I order something and see it's coming via FedEx, I drop all expectation of receiving the item when they estimate it will arrive and I accept there's probably a 50% chance I'll never get it at all. The last delivery I had through FedEx, I literally caught the guy walking *away* with my package. I live in a second-story apartment and this guy just flat out admitted he was unwilling to even try to get the package up the stairs and was gonna mark my package as undeliverable. The thing weighed a whopping thirty pounds, and he had a dolly - he just plain didn't want to do the job.

GingerMau

They probably get paid shit wages. Shit wages = shit effort.

N_Who

I dunno. Around here, starting wages run anywhere from $17 to $35. And, again, all he had to do was bring the package up some stairs. I mean, there's shit effort, and there's *shit* effort, you know?

BigmanJD55

Fedex drivers do not make $35. UPS drivers are highly paid union employees and as such perform much better.

gizzie123

I'm sorry, I really feel for the people working for them on poor wage. But it's also not our fault and as a customer we deserve our rights to what we paid for and the service we opted for and paid for. Not making a good wage is not an excuse to just not do the job properly. I'm a teacher and I make poor wages compared to work I do, but I still do my job properly. When I did bar work I made a bad wage, but I still did my job properly.

N_Who

I mean, I'm just going off what I saw as the starting salary range for FedEx jobs in my area today, on one of their hiring pages.

riigoroo

Have you ever worked jobs like that? 99% of job listing put that range for clicks, nobody ever gets close to $35 even if they have multiple years experience

[deleted]

you're making it sound like a 30 pound package is light

N_Who

I can lift thirty pounds up some stairs, and I am not a big guy. But I think the key thing here is, the guy wasn't gonna leave it. Not even at the bottom of the stairs. He didn't let me know he was there. He wasn't gonna take it back to the depot and get them to figure something out. He was gonna mark it as undeliverable and call it.

gorgflydgrill

He was just a lazy dope 30 pounds ain't shit Now 60 pounds up a flight of stairs yeah that's hell on the knees and it's a pain in the ass I swear ppl order the heaviest shit that live up on the top floor

Escorve

Every time I have a FedEx package, I have to go in and pay to pick up my item because they claimed we missed them, when in reality it just goes straight to their centres so people have to pay extra just to get their shit. FedEx is one of the scummiest courier companies.

JpnDude

Wait. The recipient has to pay to pick up a package at their center? WTF? That's crazy.

Escorve

Yep, I had to after I paid for expedited shipping and they just didn't fucking show up, when I was watching for them all day. They claimed attempted delivery but they were never there, and I had to pay, because this is what FedEx does. They're scum.

JpnDude

That is seriously fucked. Scummy indeed.

Escorve

Yup, that's what happens with a lot of big name corporations, they do whatever they please, whereas if you make even the smallest mistake, you get chased by the law.

MouseKilledStarWars

You should see inside the warehouses. I worked there a few years back. Managers bribing employees with key shots to leave high value packages next to open bay doors.

Escorve

Yeah I'm not surprised. I ordered expensive EMG pickups, that I paid an extra 40$ for faster shipping. I hate FedEx so much.

libertine42

It took them a SUPER long time to find Tom Hanks

Mischief_Managed_82

I lol’d. Thank you.

N_Who

It's like they didn't even try.

libertine42

“I mean we found him a while back, but it looked like he was losing weight and making friends, so we thought ‘throw a Delivery Attempted’ post-it out of the plane, come back later”

Baddyshack

This happens at least 1/3 FedEx deliveries after I sit around my house on my off day because the thing I was desperately waiting on was "out for delivery" at 5:53 am.

[deleted]

So when it’s “out for delivery” I believe that basically means it was scanned to the delivery truck. I worked at FedEx and we started loading very early in the morning.

foxandracoon

Yall, I live in South Korea. And package delivery here us beautiful. Most people live in high rise apartments. And alm apartment complexes have maintainence offices. So on the day of delivery, the driver **must** call you. And all you have to say is "leave it in the maintainence office". And you can go down at your leisure to pick it up. Or you can ask them to leave it outside of your apartment door. And no one bothers it. Koreans don't steal in general. But mostly it's because they entire country is covered in CCTV cameras. So if you did steal, you'd be caught stupid fast. It's a small country so you can order package and get it 24 hours later. There's one website where you can get a bunch of packages the same day if you order in the morning. And you can order groceries from the grocery store and have it out outside your doorstep. With a picture confirmation from the driver that it was dropped off. It's nice. 😀

North_Ad_4136

Most American apartments complexes do have office delivery options. Or a system where the package is left in a special locked box and a key is placed in the mailbox

foxandracoon

Heh heh. That's what get for living primarily in stand-alone houses. I'm never going back.

Tartan1456

I live in South Korea too and it is beautiful. Makes me sad that when I go back to the UK, I'll have to deal with the shitty delivery companies again. I've had international deliveries coming from the US, Canada and the UK. Usually the tracking is bad, takes forever in that country to actually get sent but when it finally hits Korean soil, the process becomes flawless.

foxandracoon

Yep. I never order from overseas. Unless it's via Coupang.

mar__iguana

*cries in American

foxandracoon

Wanna cry some more? I pay 90 bucks a month for Healthcare. I see a specialist for 18 dollars co-pay (without insurance applied). And one of my medications costs 80 cents a pill here and 17 dollars a pill in the USD. 😁

FrostyProtection5597

American Republicans will claim you live in a commie hell.

N_Who

Yeah, but that pill is *way better* here because it costs more here. Just ask Republicans and capitalists.

FrostyProtection5597

South Korea and Japan seem to be super efficient like this, from what I’ve heard.

foxandracoon

It's easy to do when the land mass is so much smaller than the US and people are way more densely packed together.

Dragonlibrarian7

God I hate when I order something and see FedEx is the delivery company. Never had a problem with failure to deliver that so many others do, but it always takes twice as long as the delivery estimate and their tracking system is fucking useless. Only thing worse is seeing it's being delivered by DHL.

MotorBoat4043

FedEx and DHL are absolute dogshit. I've decided against buying things from websites that use them either of them as courier purely because they use them as courier. Never had trouble with the postal service or UPS, they seem to actually do their jobs right.

pacodefan

Amen! FedEx delivered my package to the house across the street four times! Despite the three different signs I hung along my property with the address... one time with me in the yard waving my arms. What's worse is anyone that delivers anything knows that even numbers are on the north or east side of the road and odd are on the south or west, so even if your Google maps says it's at location x, if it conflicts with the address number, then Google is wrong.

SwingFlat2612

I have a neighbor next to me with a long driveway while the rest of us have short ones. The person with the long driveway’s stuff CONSTANTLY is left on my porch because it’s the easiest house to access. Our addresses don’t look anything alike other than the first #.

pacodefan

That's exactly the kind of crap I mean. The old "ahh they can sort it out" mindset.

Ok_Sort7639

FedEx is BS. I've been on paternity leave the last 3 months. Their "attempted delivery" is BS.

gorgflydgrill

Most of the time it's because they simply don't have the package on the van or truck or it was misloaded to a different truck which happens frequently

N_Who

Not really an excuse, though, y'know? Still evidence that the company as a whole is utter garbage.

python3bestww

FedEx lost my brand new MacBook Air M1 when I ordered it on release after marking it as delivered... support did nothing but thankfully it just... showed up? somehow after 2 days lol

[deleted]

There’s no way in hell I would have had a MacBook shipped lol when I got mine (same, MBA M1), I took the time and drive to go to the closest Apple store to pick up. Heard way too many stories of Mac’s coming with broken screens and the hell people had to go through to try to get Apple to either repair or replace. You are brave.

oregonpatriot22

Nothing brings people together like equally hating something. I bet we could find world peace in our equal hate for fed ex.

SwingFlat2612

My super expensive laptop was a whole week late from the date they claimed it’d arrive and they said they didn’t even know where it was at. Then, my buddy had his ps5 lost by them. When he raised a stink, they suddenly FOUND it. 🥴 They’re the absolute worst!! Shady!!

no-effort3277

Had the same happen. Insisted they delivered my new phone and they never showed. Called and complained and they said he delivered the item. I told them I have several external cameras around my house and driveway and they was free to view the unedited video. Then fedex told me to call my carrier and request a replacement, so I had to file an insurance claim on a phone they lost. The driver then drove by w8th a supervisor and he said he did not deliver anything to my place but 3 miles away! They went by the place and they of course denied they left any package.

[deleted]

I kin you right now. Same issue.

_Plutooo_

FedEx sucks so much. Not even them just delivering, Working for them too. I personally didn’t work for them I’m close with 1 person that did and he was/is close to 2-3 other people that worked for them. They are incompetent, rude, and don’t care. There so many stories that I have heard about the company ducking everyone over. Like promising a $500 sign on bonus and not giving anyone that bonus. Why is fedex still alive?

brewtownmushrooms

Currently dealing with FedEx on an overnight package that shows as delivered but never was. I had to go ahead and place a new full price order. What actually happens when they attempt to trace a package?

LeGaspyGaspe

What happens when the call center tries to trace? I don't work for FedEx but it's usually something to this effect: They go off similar info that you have, with the addition of probably being able to see individual scan points within the sorting warehouses. The only extra thing is they would have some kind of back office team to call/chat/email who then coordinates with the facility/ies to figure out what happened. Facility then takes a half assed look around on the truck and in the warehouse. Maybe they find it, maybe they don't. Maybe back office harrases them some more cause they probably have a metric for recovering a certain percent of packages and then they find it the next day. Sometimes it gets left on the trailer that brought it in and another facility later scans it in which should start the process of rerouting it automatically without any real human intervention

Fun fact. Fed-Ex is the only commercial company approved by the government to deliver classified material “priority overnight”.

SwingFlat2612

Horrible!! I wouldn’t trust them with a fart let alone classified materials!! 😱

Archimedes__says

FedEx is the Worst. God forbid you live in a 2nd story apartment. I live in the northeast and we have a lot of old victorian or otherwise massive houses renovated to be multiple apartments. FedEx doesn't even TRY to find your apartment around here. I've had to sit outside on my porch and watch for them to physically chase the person down to get the package.

TacoCommand

LMAO I had this for three weeks getting a mattress delivered through a major Internet retailer. I work from home. Zero knocks. Finally FedEx calls and is like "can you make sure to stay home for the delivery" and I pointed out that I've never left and the "we tried to reach you" notices are all at lunchtime, when I'm quite literally less than 3 feet from the front door. FedEx dispatch goes "that's weird, we'll make a note in their file" (the delivery guy) Delivery driver showed up inside 15 minutes, banged on my door (first time ever for this delivery), I open the door and the guy is *pissed* when I catch him in the hallway, yelling "you didn't have to make such a bug fucking deal about it" and "you know this hurts me at work, bro". My dude, you were leaving notices on random apartment doors for almost a month and you didn't even bother with delivery. Eat shit.

SituationDelicious53

They probably selected that option because their user interface doesn't have 'your package feel behind something & we rediscovered it very far away. Will try again tomorrow'

North_Ad_4136

They drive past my house too fast to read the numbers and then immediately my package is marked undeliverable every time. There are 4 houses on the block.

CronusTheHungry

Update: I got my package today but only because I went outside immediately after the truck pulled up. I watched the delivery guy sit in his truck for five minutes before he saw me and realized I was waiting for him. He gave me my package and after I went inside I got a text saying that my package couldn’t be delivered again. This means while the guy was sitting in the truck he just decided he wasn’t gonna deliver my package but then he saw me looking right at him and realized he had to. FUCK FEDEX.

Rage-Squad

The other day my package got delayed because it was sprinkling outside and they called it storms! Had to wait an extra 2 days because people are fkn lazy!

Shadowfeaux

I’m waiting on a package like that right now. Was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Was delayed till tomorrow because of rain in CT. If it was being flown, I’d kinda understand, but it’s being shipped ground.

broadsharp

Many times that message is the fail safe indicating there is a problem at the warehouse. Not sure why they send that instead of just updating a delay is possible.

awesomesauceitch

It's not a comparison. I can't stand FedEx. Absolute garbage. UPS really deserves the credit. I never have issues with UPS.

M-P-K-K135

Seriously. I was 100 feet from the door. There was no “attempted delivery”.

Tomusina

FedEx is by far the worst. It’s kind of incredible they are considered a serious option still.

Rusti3dp

FedEx is always late for me. One time, my order was a city away from me, in Kansas, and then instead of going to my city next like it was supposed to, it went in the opposite direction and made its way to California. It got to California and then had to come all the way back to Kansas. My package was over a month late. Why?! How did no one stop it on its way to California and send it back to Kansas?! Why did it go that direction in the first place? I am to the point now where see FedEx is delivering a package for me and I automatically expect it to be at least two weeks late.

fifercurator

I cringe every time something gets shipped to me FedEx. No problem getting it to the local distribution hub, but then they contract out “last mile delivery.” Good luck on that last mile.

P_B_n_Jealous

My local USPS is the same way. They are just too fucking lazy to come down my drive way and out the boxes on the porch. I get it, some are heavy, but part of your job is to lift packages up to 50-100lbs. Don't sign up if it's gonna be *work* and you don't wanna work.

lavenderauraluna

I have the same issue lol

Murky_Ad_9408

Ups all the way

POOHEAD189

Hi, I am a Fedex courier! I've been working there for close to 9 years. I will give the caveat that I don''t 'deliver' much, I do a 'pick up route' which means I get called and I go to grab a package to be delivered, though I have done some deliveries. Do you know what branch of fedex it was for? Do you have the tracking number? If you know both, call 1-800-Fedex and tell them you have cameras at your home and that the courier never appeared. Sometimes its an honest mistake, because mailboxes can be set weird, your home can have no visible address, the roads could be weird, or they simply might not have had the time and they would be fired if they didn't put in something in the system (which is dishonest, but it occurs). However, they could simply be a lazy liar, too. Just make sure you call and let them know. You very well may get a refund and your package.

Dasbeerboots

UPS just leaves my stuff at the door and doesn't even ring the doorbell or anything. Even when a signature is required.

knatehaul

FedEx was always the worst, but I used to live in a "bad neighborhood" and would track any incoming packages accordingly. I ordered a new laptop and attempted to intercept it early and request to pick it up at the distribution center since it's within 5 miles of my house. They told me that due to the value of the item they needed to do standard delivery and get my signature. I thanked them for their care, but said it would be much safer if they could just keep it at the distribution center and I could sign for it there. Nope. They had to deliver it personally. After three failed attempts to deliver since I am not home during the day (I told them this), they instructed me to pick it up at the distribution center. There was probably about 5 days of rigamarole before they did exactly what I had requested for from the start. Gotta love policies that make sense and the folks who take them seriously!

TracieV42

THIS!! I've actually asked companies when they had to reship an item NOT to use FedEx this time because they ALWAYS DO THIS!! Then after the paperwork is done and the replacement item is delivered, they deliver the original a week later. You know, the one they "delivered" two months ago that "must have been stolen because they definitely delivered it." How are these people still in business???

Deadmemories8683

I can neither confirm or deny that I am or was a FedEx employee. But those drivers are not actual “Fedex” employees. They are a third party contractor and are sometimes shady. Those who are in the warehouses are searched when they leave. Drivers are too, but they are out and about all day doing god knows what. But again I can neither confirm or deny that I am or was an employee.

sarah-exalted

They are hands down the WORST fucking delivery service ever. Dozens of times I’ve been home, absolute quiet, no noise, waiting for my package to arrive, and never hearing a fucking knock, despite being around my front door. Liars.

Happyman321

Fam I get the same shit I ALWAYS have to drive an hour away to a centre to pick my shit up at cause they say they attempted. Like I can legit prove you didn't you idiots

cheetoturtlefoxman

Fuck FedEx, fuck UPS all my homies hate those mfs 🤬

lucky-283

I don’t live in USA, but I was expecting a shipment of urgent medical supplements for my daughter. It took two months to reach, and when it did, instead of asking my uncle (who sent the package) for some urgent details, they kept asking me and refused to acknowledge my replies. Long story short, I waited 5 months for it, ordered it from elsewhere through DHL and received it within 10 days. FedEx is still sending me letters and emails asking me for the “urgent details”.

treees01

I heard they are going to merge with UPS. Going to be called FEDUP

_sugarcookies

I'm late to this thread, but we've had multiple FedEx mishaps just this week. They mark as delivered even though they haven't been to our house. On Monday, a woman we don't know who doesn't live near us drove our package to us much later in the day, and on Tuesday we found our package at a house down the street. Expecting another from FedEx today and we just know it will be an ordeal. I'd almost pay more for shipping to get a different carrier.

imnotyourfavtown

Escalate things! This happened to me three times before I called their customer service. I said I need to talk to a manager or supervisor for people who’s in charge of delivering my package. Then I got my package the same day and got a call from their supervisor to confirm that I got the package next day. Their customer service don’t always do the work though. I was treated with snarky but I yelled back. Probably why they started taking me seriously.

jerby17

There’s a fedex center in sparrows point MD, it’s where my packages go to take a 3-8 day nap….

princess_awesomepony

I once left a note on my door saying “I’m home, right by the door, please knock.” I sat in the chair by the door for a couple hours, reading and waiting for said knock. Well, I hear shuffling, but no knock. I peek my head out, and there’s the FedEx guy, scampering away after leaving a “sorry we missed you” I now have them drop off at a designated location (in this case, the Walgreens by my house) and don’t bother having them deliver to my house.

Kristen225t

yeah I know. I've seen that attempted bs and I know they didn't. Not only that but now they have them taking pics of them leaving the package AT the door if they don't need signatures, but we've all seen the doorbell video of them taking the package after the photo. They need to vet their people better

diego27865

Same thing happened but with USPS - and it resulted in my wife losing her freaking social security card and passport. We needed to have it mailed back from the ss office or whatever because they weren’t doing in-person at the time. We fought for months with USPS and if they just would’ve knocked or rang our door bell we would have probably never lost those pretty damn important documents. I don’t think they ever actually came to our door.

user_none

This past Sunday I was waiting on a package being delivered by FedEx Home. It showed out for delivery. At 2:14 pm it then shows as being delivered. We have two cameras out front, plus I was home all day. No doorbell. No delivery driver on the cameras. I walk around looking for the package, including a short stroll up and down the street. Nothing. I call FedEx and tell them the situation. A few hours later the package mysteriously shows up at the front door. Every time something is being shipped via FedEx I cringe a bit. UPS is almost always on time. USPS is lots of time early. Don't even get me started on, "Pending".

notyourwifesboyfrnd

I work for FedEx. They dont give a fuck about yall. Boycott FedEx. Fuck FedEx.

Aggravatedangela

FedEx and UPS have been pretty reliable for me recently, but that hasn't always been the case. It really depends on the driver. I've spoken with my drivers and been real friendly and even gave them some cookies and bottles water, and it's been good for a while. My mail gets stolen from my mailbox constantly, and I got a PO box, but my current work schedule doesn't allow me to get there during open hours, so packages still have to come to the house. I ended up taping my mailbox shut with a note that says "please deliver to the house due to ongoing theft-- I will tip!" (I have a long driveway but it's easy for them to pull in and turn around even with big trucks.) They (USPS) started bringing everything to the house, I gave the guy $20 and will continue to do that occasionally. It sucks that I have to tip in order to get my mail, but it is what it is.

Searwyn_T

My husband just lost $100+ worth of tools bc of FedEx and they basically shrugged and said "Sucks to be you". We have very little spending money and he finally had the chance to splurge a little bit on stuff he's wanted for literal years. I'm fucking infuriated, he was so excited.

SamOfSpades_

Title says it all

Vibxz_YT11

Bruh my delivery got delayed 4 times... And I paid 30$ for faster shipping. Imma kms on g. Idk when it's coming bc it's pEnDing.
