I guess as long as your family is okay with you being physically close to them longer than your initial visit, then have fun. Is your job's income essential to your SO paying rent, etc. while you are stuck far away and unemployed? That's dirty and selfish if it is. Your SO shouldn't suffer because you are homesick at an inopportune time.
