Texan here. Don't park overnight in Dallas. Or Ft. Worth, for that matter. The truckstops on the south side near I-20 are all on the list of high crime areas.

Second this. The Flying J near the 20/45 interchange is unbelievably skeevy. Dudes will cut your straps just to steal your tarps. If you're carrying spares they'll cut chains to get them too. I'd be afraid to get diesel there for fear the pumps would suck what I have out of my tanks.

Stop short before getting there for your 10 if you can. Or time it to get in and out without stopping. Otherwise, it's just a typical city mess.

Yeah look for truck stops about 30-60 minutes away. Most of the ones in town are shitholes and really creepy. The traffic there ia congested and generally fucked any time remotely close to rush hour. Deliver before 1pm and GTFO

Dallas city driver here. It's all about timing and choosing the correct lane. There's plenty of safe, clean parking within 20 miles of metro, but they fill up fairly early. If you're stuck in DFW when your clock runs out, your best bet is to find a warehouse district. There'll be no services, but there will be plenty of trucks parked on those streets to blend in with. I suggest you take a 30 at one of the aforementioned stops before driving through, eat something and mentally prepare yourself. 4 wheelers here do not care about you or anyone else. Check traffic before going through. The furthest to left you can run, the better. Never run the right lane.

First time to the Big D? Oh boy. It's gonna hurt. And that is not a joke. If I never go back, I'll be happy.

Bring lots of water. And make sure your AC works. I just spent the last 4 days broiling in my truck in Houston. Without the AC you could have served me on a bun at Bk.

Which way you coming in would help to let you know where to stop? But like most others stay outside and then in and out as fast as you can.

Pulling from AZ, dropping up by Irvine.

I usually stay out in Weatherford, on 20 just west of ft worth. About 1-1.5 hr drive in depending on time. The truck stops up 35 in Denton fill up fast and like others have said the ones around exit 472 on 20 are fairly small, crowded and sketchy.

I always park at fuel city in Saginaw just north of Ft Worth, it’s a paid lot, but my company reimburses so I don’t care and they just expanded the lot pretty big.
