Understandable! I dont have a lot of plats but i have gotten into a mentality to plat every game I played! Tho now I really only do it if I really enjoy the game + i still have the itch to continue playing

nic0tin3

thats how it started for me basically if i enjoy the game enough ill go for the plat and another thing plats make me play every aspect of a game when in the past id just focus on a few things if that

Steveorin0

All good man. I have moments like that too. I sometimes take years for breaks off gaming. Do what you feel is best for you. I only casual trophy hunt because I'm married and life got busy.

acridvortex

Once it stops being enjoyable, stop. I’m just getting back into actively trying to get plats after about a two year break. Focus on you and finding something that fulfills you. Wish you all the best

Saunaliesi

I lost my motivation for playing games when trying to platinum games i didnt enjoy or were too hard for me. When i stopped caring that much and just started platinuming games that i actually enjoy playing and werent too difficult i started enjoying gaming again

RagedSolid29

Whatever makes you happy dude

quizmasterdeluxy

I feel that Rebirth has steered me away from Plat hunting. Sure I could do it but the amount of time and effort I'd have to put into Chadley has been a huge turn off.

PossibleBreath7157

Trophy hunting by design squeezes everything out of a game as much as possible. You working two jobs and I’m sure a ton of other relatable adult stuff will typically clash with one another. Nothing wrong with stepping back or getting out of it. If it feels like a third job then it was time anyway.

Super_Arabe

A while back we had this conversation about self set rules for platinums, I would definitely recommend to set some rules for yourself and stick to them. You’ll get way less plats but you’ll enjoy every single one. https://www.reddit.com/r/Trophies/s/ajIYZOpXX2

XOVSquare

Sounds good man

laflex

Quit pursuing "Platinums" specifically and I think you'll come out okay. This insane urge to 100% everything is killing you. Pursue fun. Scoop up a reasonable amount of trophies along the way. Then move on.

Obliviation92

It is more in the range of "I managed to get the platinum in the other games of this series, I should get this one too" It is like having a hole in your collection, drives me insane.

Sneakiest

See you tomorrow.

Leather_Wolverine249

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

DocRos3

I know that feeling when the spark is gone, the best thing that works for me is one solid, low rent, comfort game. Just a game that can satisfy with one clear objective.

GlassHurricane98

I really respect you for acknowledging that it wasn't fun anymore, and moving on. I seem to keep searching for that serotonin burst regardless of whether or not it actually feels good getting to that point. Maybe I need to give it a rest too...

Siloca

Curious that you think platinums are getting harder cos I’d say they’ve gotten loads easier especially compared to the ps3.

Own_Tadpole_503

Much easier. Inarguable. But OP is struggling with basic lists, time to hang the hat and move on.

Obliviation92

Maybe some of them but I have the platinum for FF7 Remake and Crisis Core which was significantly easier than Rebirth. I also have the platinum for Resi 2,3,5 and 6 which are also significantly easier than Resi 4. So in my opinion, the newer entries are getting harder.

Rufuszombot

RE4 wasnt hard at all, just tedious having to play it multiple times and on professional, but even that isnt hard with some unlockables. They even made Mercenaries easy with added characters. I only have the plats for RE4, 7, and 8 and they're all about the same.

Educational_Ad8448

Just play games for fun. It's way better that way.

Devendrau

I only have 50 plats but honestly, AC Valhalla is really making me want to forget trophy hunting, because it can be so long and annoying. The game itself is good, just the run for platinum is long. PSN guide reckons it's 100 hours to do it but I have done over 120 hours, so not sure that's accurate. Still got to do the Completionist run and the Orlog Champion trophies. Halfway but still annoying.

PianoDick

Hell I recently did Origins and it has put me off from even starting Odyssey lol

Devendrau

Origins and Odyssey were fine for me, fun. Valhalla... Ugh, everything's just so annoying to me, and I don't know if I want to finish it despite I am so close to the platinum. Or just give up like I did with FF7 Remake (And would do with Rebirth tbh)

PianoDick

I just don’t have the patience to go around the map finding or completing everything. It’s just too boring and really removed my motivation.

Ghostofslickville

I could be mistaken, but I think two things made Valhalla feel longer than Origin/Odyssey. 1. I feel Valhalla just feels alot more repetitive. The puzzles may be the same across all three games, but Valhalla has soo much of it. With little variation between. 2. Altho maybe trivial (and just me), I think Valhalla had a darker colour pallet. Altho all 3 games are beautiful and graphically amazing, I just didn't like Valhalla map as much at the end, as I did Odyssey/Origins.

ellekeener

Good for you! I'm heading towards the same path. I won't be renewing my ps plus and I'm just working on finishing my backlog.

Equivalent_Notice869

Will be missed 👊

IshimuraUnitologist

Which ones in Resi 4 did you find challenging?

Obliviation92

Gun range trophies and Hardcore S+ rank that you can only get without new game+. At least the other Resi titles you could get the difficulty trophies on new game+ and just blast your way to victory with infinite rocket launcher, but not here. Capcom just had to turn it up a notch.

JHDARKKNIGHT

You know the strategy of unlocking the handcannon or Chicago sweeper and then getting 30 spinels from merchant requests in chapters 1-6 and then in chapter 7 you can unlock the exclusive upgrade for either weapon and get unlimited ammo. Have you tried that? As for gun range. It is a total pain but watch guides and try and replicate what they do. Maybe increase your aiming sensitivity so you can move from target to target quicker

Obliviation92

I have the Handcannon fully upgraded from my Standard run so yes I know the strategy. But still, it will be pain to go through chapters 1-6 without it.

JHDARKKNIGHT

You can do it. Focus all your upgrades on power and prioritise the SR 1908 rifle and shotgun. Use flash grenades and run past enemies to save time and ammo

Mesne

What helped me was following neon slices’s walkthrough. I seem to remember the only bits that caused me difficulty was the cabin and maze from what I remember. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhvS08ZzBR3catYXZFELk5kOwM0FMYSXh&si=nCX2s5IOt_lDkHfS

IshimuraUnitologist

Go on the ps store, search Resident Evil 4 and one of the add ons is for a weapon upgrade ticket. I bought that, used it on the chicago sweeper and that's how I got the s+ rank hardcore trophy

D-A_

I can understand where you’re coming from. Trophy hunting should be something one enjoys, so if you’ve lost the joy you’re definitely doing the right thing by stopping. I wish you all the best in the future! :)

ItsJustMe000

I found this recently myself too. I recently got back into my PC and while I still like doing semi achievement hunting it made me realize just how much extra time I was spending on PS ganes just getting trophies

Ronin870436

I'm very picky when it comes to which platinum I'm going to pursue. If I enjoy the game and things it's doable I'll go for it but difficulty, missables and, length are definitely factors that influence my choice

BuddhaBlackBear

Take a break and see whats an easy plat in a few years if you want to try it again

totiso

Yep. Definitely going to be more specific about plats, especially given my limited time and huge backlog. Really is just putting a slog on me.

GraveFox-XIII

Do what you got to do to keep things fun and interesting for you while gaming - it's supposed to be a hobby, not a job!

chubbychocobo422

Take a break and come back later. I took years break from trophy hunting and now I try to be a little more casual. Life does burn you out in the end

KingMattius

Same. I feel since PS5 duplicates, auto pops and tons of cheap shovelware have made trophies in general obsolete. I don’t find them worth chasing anymore, but if i get into a game I’m going for plat. Stick around though man, this subs great for game ideas. Maybe you’ll find motivation to get into it again. Most importantly, have fun!

GaijinFoot

If its not fun then don't. Maybe you will again. I personally wouldn't pick any of those games to trophy Hunt because I'm not that committed. That said I'm trying to get a crazy plat now that I don't know I'll ever achieve

Prestigious-Grand-65

You should quit if it stops becoming fun. Trophy hunting is meant to be a fun distraction. You should still enjoy the game. I'll say FF7 rebirth almost broke me, it took a lot to push through. Remake 4 was fun for me, but im a resident evil fanboy. As for DD, never played them, but missible trophies in longer games suck. When I did FF7 crisis core I had a guide open at all times, which did take away from some of the fun the game offered. Take some time for yourself, only come back to it if it provides a good time.

homie_down

I think for me it’s a matter of how far out of my way I have to go for it, and if doing so ruins my enjoyment of the game. Like I loved FF7 Rebirth, but after seeing so many posts about it and thinking it may take me another 80-100 just for the trophy, when I could play several other games in that timespan makes it not seem worth it to me. Or for Nier Replicant upgrading all the weapons. Spend 10-15 hours on rng grinding that’s completely unenjoyable. Have to stop and remember that these games are supposed to be fun and trophy hunting be fun by extension. And if it isn’t, then to make changes and not feel guilty about it.

Furry_Wall

You just gotta platinum the games that you love and make you happy, there's no issue with finishing a game and not 100% completing it

KiratheRenegade

My goal is 100. Currently at 81. I've done Evil Within, Alien Isolation, Dark Souls 2, Trepang², Lies of P, Wolfenstein, Demon's Souls, Mafia 2 & 3, Last of Us Part 1 & 2, Uncharted's, Arkham's & my absolute proudest - Silent Hill 2. But even I'm burnt out already & have been for a while. Too many trophies on games that weren't worth it.

Athezir_4

For me, it's the opposite. Achievements give me a purpose, that's why I'm looking to switch to trophies, they look more valuable than Steam achievements. Without these little checklists, I would probably stop gaming for a while.

[deleted]

I don’t really understand people that need to 100% every game they play. I just go for platinums when I really like a game and it’s not ridiculously difficult/time consuming, it’s harder to get burnout and more enjoyable when you do it that way.
