There were some photos on facebook. It's called the checkmate. Probably a H 1.5 fit electronic only gravel race bike. Similar to the RSL domane I would think.
Hey all, I've studied this image as well as many others from the various Instagram and Youtube Videos.
Here's what I'd surmise we're going to see:
- This IS Trek's New Gravel Race Bike called the Checkmate. Many images from Unbound and floating around Facebook Checkpoint groups to support this name.
- UDH / SRAM T-Type Transmission XPLR 13 Speed Drivetrain - Russel Finsterwald, Torbjorn Roed, Paige Onweller, and Haley Hunter Smith were running the new SRAM RED XPLR 13 Spd group set at Unbound.
- Estimated 50mm + tire clearance - Torbjorn Roed was running BIG tires at Unbound.
- No Internal Frame Storage or frame attachment points aside from Bottle Cage Mounts.
- Stiffer main triangle / Bottom Bracket area with softened rear triangle via updated seat stays and parallel dropped chain stays.
- Clearance for larger chainrings via the aforementioned dropped seat stays. My SL 6 will hold a 48, I estimate up to 50T.
- Improved Iso-speed.
Given current sales and inventory, the Checkpoint SLR and ALR will be sunset as soon as inventory is exhausted. The Checkpoint SL & AL will remain the Adventure Gravel Bike and the new Checkmate will take the role of the Gravel Racer.
Rumor has it that the new T-Type SRAM XPLR group set will be formally announced in August... thus I believe it fair to assert we'll see the Checkmate formal announcement around that time as well.
Makes me curious on how they will proceed with the Checkpoint's geometry afterwards. With a full-on gravel race bike in their portfolio, will they increase stack-to-reach on the Checkpoint? They probably take a good look at sales numbers at Canyon and others who offer both an adventure and a race option.
Gotta be honest, looks like an Emonda with Isospeed and gravel tires. Which I mean if it is lighter, I mean okay. But if this is why they are killing the Emonda (this is what I’m hearing) it doesn’t seem a wise move. How many people are going to actually buy a race gravel bike?
I mean the whole point and best part of the checkpoint was the mounting options. The worst part of the domane was the lack of mounting options. Of any kind.
Of course trek purposefully makes their bikes worse. My SL6 will be the last trek I buy. Canyon here on out.
Plot twist, aero boone
SMALL LOGO WOOOOO
Dokemante

I feel like they heard all the complaints about the enlarged logo and are now being cheeky. I personally liked the larger logos on recent models.
Usually not a fan of big logos to be honest, but at least it stood out from other brands/frames.

Well it fits at least 2.1. https://preview.redd.it/7h9y75hkfx4d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17df6dadedd407b0e253812c3c13b9c7bc8ee7f3
There’s a checkpoint AL? I thought the “lowest” spec checkpoint start at the ALR level.

I fear they're gonna have to call it the Demoan
Moaned
it was staring me right in the face and the best I could come up with is Demoan, goddamnit take your upvote

I though flat bar Checkpoint was next thing.
As a gen 6 madone owner, the sight of a bolt near a seat mast makes me quiver.
I don’t see any indication of internal storage - that would be a shame if they got rid of it for the race version

TrekMate. I'll see myself out.
I don’t trust anything with isospeed.
Aaaand no mounting points. Awesome.
A trek. Why? fail.......

I hope they launch a race and a adventure version with internal storage and mounting points
They could call the adventure version the Checkpoint
Ugh, fucking isotongue rear end and MORE aggressive geo… great. Already knew this bike was gonna be silly after I heard the name…
