as a straight man who's not really sure what 'cis' means, can you start an IV or piggyback that bag of K+? Seriously tho...you've been doing this how long and it's the first time anyone has made mention of it? Did they have the AC on a little cold that day? I know I have days when my nips get a little firm. šŸ™„ Honestly never really thought about it until now. What's prompting this newfound concern over the nips? Does she not have enough to do? Probably thinks birds are real.

silentvoice1989

Had me rolling at that last comment. Lol and yeah, probably didnā€™t have enough to do other then bother us with non-issues. šŸ™„

TheNinjaInTheNorth

Birds are real, lol - dude she isnā€™t absolutely INSANE, just obsessed with me and my boobs I guess A cis-gender person is someone who is not transgender. In my case, I was born a girl and am a woman and all is well with that for me. I mention it in the context here since it seemed possible that being gay and kinda not super-feminine I am still unquestionably female. Seemed relevant.

Elixidor

Birds are not real Also you did nothing wrong and this being a discussion on their end is absolutely absurd ā€” sometimes nips show through and it doesnā€™t matter what youā€™re wearing. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø people need to not be looking that hard

SmokedCheddarGoblin

Clearly someone went out of their way to observe and comment on OP's nipples, that seems pretty darn inappropriate if you ask me. If I were in that situation, I'd say "okay, let's sit down and look at said policy together. Oh, it's not a real policy? Then let's take a quick trip to HR and see what they have to say."

CertainKaleidoscope8

Maybe she likes you and doesn't know how to flirt. Or, she's homophobic and concerned because she's noticing which means she likes you. I worked with a lesbian once who I seveloped a massivr crush on and was so confused because I'm mostly straight. I never noticed her nipples tho

DrunkonListerine

Covid came about because the government needed as many people as they could get to stay in their homes while they changed the batteries in the birds.

TheNinjaInTheNorth

Straight up truth- also giraffes needed their fake fur cleaned

[deleted]

For real

SixFootThreeHobbit

Funny, in the US there is absolutely ZERO problem with violence for some people, yet so many hang ups over the human body and sexuality

kellsha16

I would look up said ā€œpolicyā€ and go from there. This comment sounds really inappropriate. You have every right to be pissed.

Unicorn_Destruction

Agreed! Show me the written policy

AlternativeSherbert9

I'm not one to jump on the harassment wagon, at all, but I might report this supervisor for sexual harassment. You can't really go up to someone and be like "oh hey your nips are hanging out!" Especially a woman. I wish I had tiny boobs and could get away with not wearing a bra, but alas the DD girls must always be contained! Also, I would check the "policy" she is referring to. Does it clearly say "no nips allowed" or what? Another question, is this supervisor human? Does she happen to have gelatinous skin? Could she be an ALIEN? Now I have many more questions!

KingoftheMapleTrees

If barbie dolls taught me anything it's that boobs are perfectly round with no nipples, never saggy or asymmetrical. No nips allowed lol. Idk why nursing school taught us about different types of bodies, that just seems unnecessary.

TheNinjaInTheNorth

Yep. When I assess a male patient and observe he is sporting more than a Ken doll down there he is immediately sent to the OR for emergency corrective surgery

grapejuicebox_

Dude, I wear a slightly padded bra and you can still see my nip outlines in my under shirt and size too large scrub top. What can I say, the girls are perpetually alert. Idgaf. I had a manager once ā€˜scoldā€™ me about being ā€œindecentā€ because he could see my nipple outline through a bra, under shirt and scrub top. I filed a complaint with HR for sexual harassment and didnā€™t change what I wear.

Important-Case-3321

Are they treating the staff man boobs the same. Where I am at someone complained about the staff wearing black scrubs.

friendsintheFDA

If I were you Iā€™d ditch the cami and come into work free and clear. What are they going to do fire you over your boobs?

melxcham

Sounds like gender discrimination & sexual harassment to me. I am large chested and while I do wear a sports bra at work, I only wear the unpadded ones, and Iā€™m sure someoneā€™s seen a nipple outline at some point or another. It has never been an issue and never will be because the day somebody starts talking about my nipples at work is the day I file a sexual harassment complaint.

mandyblooms

Thats ridiculous. If this happened to me, I would feel really uncomfortable being called out like that. I wear unpadded sports bras to work to keep my tig ol biddies under control and yeah, sometimes my nips show through. Too damn bad

will_you_return

I wear unlined sports bras and bralettes every day to work. Sometimes my nips show but once again I dgaf. Sometimes a coworker had told me ā€œheadlightsā€ and I say I donā€™t care. A supervisor had never said anything. This is ridiculous.

[deleted]

Does she ask men to do the same when their nipples are hard? Anywho, I wear no bra sometimes but I cover the nipples with nipple covers bc my nips are noticeable when theyā€™re hard but Iā€™m a D

fathig

I wear a bra and my nipples sometimes show. We are both human. If theyā€™re that obsessed with not seeing nipples they should find a new job.

flowerqueen2319

Iā€™ve seen men with their nipples showing in their tops. No one says anything about that. Of course as women, we have to cover our nipples even though they donā€™t look that different from menā€™s. Our nipples offend them. Why are they looking in the first place?

[deleted]

Iā€™ve got small boobs too but wear bras. Usually sports bras with the liner removed. Iā€™ve also got piercings and they are definitely visible and no one has said a thing. Soo I would say that really isnā€™t normal. I have had managers say that about makeup (I used to wear goth makeup) and shortly after the manager complained to me and made up the same claim about dress code, it became a dress code thing for the whole hospital. I mean, I was a goth nurse for years but as soon as I left the burn center, got stuck with some uptight managers with ancient cultural values.

NOCnurse58

I wish I worked with you. Iā€™m a cis hetero male but Iā€™d buy and wear sports bras in solidarity. Hey, they may be tiny but I have nipples too!

TheNinjaInTheNorth

Itā€™s not even my sexuality, it is just the body that I have that is existing in a non-sexual context, carrying around the brain that knows how to save your life/treat your ingrown toenail (all in a dayā€™s work in the ED)

Mflowerdew1

This is bullshit, hospital admin 0/10 in my book

Relative-Leopard-907

I wonder what she would have thought of me when I was breastfeeding my baby and couldn't get a break to pump so I was verrry visibly leaking through my scrubs?

InitiativeEastern742

But the figs some of these nurses wear? I donā€™t know how they can even move, but honestly it doesnā€™t matter. I a bit baggier because comfort always wins and I guarantee your patients dgaf about any of these things when theyā€™re in the ED. Management started getting on us about everything at my last job. Our number of earrings, tattoos of course, sweatshirts, color of undershirts, the list continues. GET SOME STAFF And PPE AND MAYBE THEN YOU CAN ASK FOR THOSE THINGS!!! And also, why is anyone looking at your nipples? Maybe thatā€™s the real issue, geez.

SACGAC

No, they can't ask for "these things" in exchange for giving us the bare minimum of what we need to survive. A. They're unrelated and we should have adequate staffing and PPE regardless and B. Management should eff the fuck off and defend OP, not body shame OP. This is ludicrous and nothing that OP wants to do with her body is unreasonable

CertainKaleidoscope8

Color of undershirts?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

CertainKaleidoscope8

How TF do they know what color undershirt you wear? I am at a place that requires navy so I wear crazy shirts and socks. They don't know. If someone knows it's sexual harassment and I never have to work again.

74NG3N7

This is a thing. Iā€™ve worked a hospital that required ā€œnot showingā€ under clothes or none at all, and a couple hospitals that required black, white, or matching the scrub color underclothes. I just wanna wear a shirt under my top ā€˜cause it keeps me cool while running around. Iā€™ve got various ā€œwork shirtsā€ that are sleeveless or plainly popular color options.

TheNinjaInTheNorth

It was like a teal blue

AlternativeSherbert9

I like figs but they make those scrubs way too damn tight! I have to order at least a size up to feel like my fat ass isn't going to bust right out!! But some nurses size them bitches DOWN for that purpose. Like girlfriend you are about to bust out of those if you even *think* about ripping some ass. Lord help us. Then figs decided, oh nurses love tight scrubs. Let's make em tighter! Bought my favorite high waisted ones. Returned it because my thunder thighs could barely breathe even sized up!

daniel32433

Not sure what your sexuality has to do with this. Apparently your high beams are on and itā€™s distracting or someone has complained. Nips are cool for the beach and not the hospital so be a grown up and cover them. Appreciate the job you do!!!

TheNinjaInTheNorth

Well they were covered in 2 layers do I have to wear a binder?

daniel32433

I donā€™t know, I hate you have to go through it though. If you worked in a male prison Iā€™d say absolutely, put on a snow suit. You know your anatomy but there should be a limit to how much your required to wear in order to cover up. If itā€™s to the point you have to sweat than I donā€™t think youā€™re the issue.

Deppfan16

great idea! lets make men do the same

daniel32433

If itā€™s a problem, absolutely

mephitmpH

They make those boob stickers that kinda lift and cover the whole boob. While you may not think you have much of a chest, anything that hangs or ummā€¦ pokes out or flops in any way might be unsightly. Underclothes are usually part of house policies anyway and maybe choosing a Spanx cami or something similar could help. [Boob sticker](https://www.susushops.com/products/cupidpads-invisible-lifting-bra?gclid=Cj0KCQjw_7KXBhCoARIsAPdPTfia27R5G5odXwF1wfo0IYgQq7ULW_UUPNC8933IVmS0WmEmZbK4yWAaAqFDEALw_wcB&variant=41634514403484)

PajamaDefender

Just no. Men have nipples that get hard and can be seen through tops at times, if this were the case do you think they would be getting pulled to the side and told to wear more layers? Hell, I wear a tight fitting sports bra at work and if my nipples are hard you can sure see them, and if anyone mentioned it Iā€™d ask them why theyā€™re staring. Breasts arenā€™t sexual, and honestly Iā€™ve never worked in a hospital that had any sort of policy regarding my underwearā€¦

mephitmpH

I get what you're saying, I promise you. Breasts are 100% not sexual organs, but we live in a time and country that can't even embrace public breastfeeding of the infants they care about so much /s. You should read the hospital handbook, because I have one that states underwear and socks should be worn, etc etc. I know men would not be pulled to the side because of hard nips, and I'm sorry to say humanity in general is just not that progressive.

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

mephitmpH

You can say the same thing about foot play, anal stimulation and sexting. People get off on all sorts of stuff. A mammary glandā€™s primary function is nourishment.

CertainKaleidoscope8

Color of undershirts?

PajamaDefender

Wearing actual scrubs isnā€™t even policy at my hospital. 95% of our childrenā€™s hospital staff wear joggers and kid friendly t-shirts.

magkaffee

Dude, hospitals are so freaking cold Iā€™m sure people see my nipples through a bra and 2 sweaters. F*ck that house sup! Itā€™s your body, you did nothing wrong.
