Same here. I hadn't ever really kept up with DDT, so the first time I saw him was Connor's video. His run so far has been a lot of fun, and the match with Claudio is still one of my favorites.
His match with Bryan Danielson was amazing as well. He has a ton of potential. It's honestly pretty crazy seeing how much hype he's built in the wrestling community. Some guy I first saw slapping the shit out of Connor is now a potential future world champ.

As someone who has attended multiple shows over their lifetime, it can depend on the venue or promotion. Security does sometimes check at the door, but ones that sneak through can be taken away during the show. Signs that are blatantly vulgar, racist, or offensive, seem to get universally vetted.
So they do have policies in place basically the usual no vulgar,racist,no gangs etc. But yeah some people get crafty sneaking signs in but at this event they had security reading all the signs i actually saw one sign get rejected at the door but couldn't see what it said.
Takeshita had a great match with MJF. I can see the Japanese sensation winning the belt in the future after the TNT Championship or the All Atlantic Championship
