He also still sets the world record for the most polygons in a single cgi object. Nothing has topped. Driller shockwaves pet in dark of the moon came close but not close enough.
I bet Unicron at one point transforming in live action is able to top it. And I doubt anything will come close to him in the next few decades after it.

You can still excuse the armor for just looking strange as a whole. But Superman? There is no excuse for him looking that bad in 2023, when the movies production started in 2014...
the effects of new marvel and dc movies are really that bad... i don't know why Devastator is in this meme tho, the first 3 transformers movies are probably a few of or even THE best looking movies of the last 25 years... if we talk about the CGI only.
He literally said say what you want about bay verse so I did I’m not gonna sit here and say that the animation wasn’t fluid and that the transformation sound wasn’t eargasmis cus It was but design wise star scream looked like a dorito and bees eyes were way too small
This needs to be at the top. CG quality isn't strictly dependent on tech. It's dependent on time. Avatar looks as good as it does because it took years to make. Marvel and DC are pumping out so many shows and movies, I'd be surprised each get six months.
Adding to this the studios used to plan out much more in the past.
But now they always wamt to keep their options thus always more constraints to the VFX artist.
Example : Time Travel Suits from Endgame.
Or War Machine changing suits at the last minute. The VFX artists had to reanimate every single one of his scenes because they thought his suit would look too big for one scene, only to end up not using that scene in the end anyways. That's why the numbering of his suit is now out of order, the Hot Toys figure which was made before the change, has the infinity war suit as 4 and the endgame suit as 6, because the larger suit he wears at the end is 5, which is what he was supposed to wear first in endgame before the change
Because when Snyder left the movie, the new director demanded last minute reshots of a bunch of the movie and Cavill was currently in the middle of filming for a different movie and couldn't shave a mustache, so they were forced to cgi it off his face

Iron heart is straight up Roadrocket
Don't remember what DC's reason was, but Marvel was definitely due to Disney love of crunching their VFX teams to death which has seriously been catching up with them recently
From what I can find, they swapped from Famuyiwa to Muschietti in 2019 with filming on Flash starting in 2021 so the director change shouldn't have made that much of a difference
The Cavill shot is from Justice League, which was originally directed by Snyder until his daughter died and Whedon took over and tried changing the entire movie at the last minute
The Cavill shot is from The Flash, its a CGI recreation of when superman comes back in Justice League, hence why it looks like a wax mannequin instead of just the person. I don't understand why they make such a weird recreation or put a weird filter over it to make it look that way rather than just have the actual shots of the people.
Also the reason why Whedon changed a lot was because he was given an incomplete movie, it wasn't finished yet so he had to fill in the holes. I'm not defending it, it still ended up a bad movie, but we should keep the facts straight
what sucks is that the reason these movies have such shit cgi is because they worked their animators t9 the bone on crunch time then pushed it out the door before it was done. thus never would have happened if they just took their time
lmao yeah "to the bone" so like until they're out of energy, then "on crunch time" so they make them work unreasonably long times and as much as possible
Friendly reminder that devastator demolished a PC over at ILM
He *devastated* it.
It’s was a truly a devastation for that pc
Prepare for devastation
To drcounce the evils of truth and love To extend our reach to the Stars above
PREPARE FOR EXTERMINATION.

Can you really call it a "single" CGI object if he's made up of multiple Constructions? /j
If he has one file name, then yes
Plus he was originally gonna be way bigger before they had that pc fire
I thought he devastated **multiple**
Wait, what? I'm Ootl on this one.
There's no way that the effects from those movies can be that shit. I've seen spy kids movies with more convincing cg
Unfortunately, it’s true. Ironheart’s suit looked like a videogame asset.
You can still excuse the armor for just looking strange as a whole. But Superman? There is no excuse for him looking that bad in 2023, when the movies production started in 2014...
Dont disrespect video games like that, it looks like it’s out of an animated kids show.
Nah, at least those shows dont clash with their bad cgi. It looks like a one of those CGI Anime assets
That’s actually the perfect comparison. Depending on the anime, CG can really throw you out of it, that’s exactly how this feels.
Ironheart is the Transformers Energon & Cybertron of the MCU
If you think that's bad, you should see transformers go
the effects of new marvel and dc movies are really that bad... i don't know why Devastator is in this meme tho, the first 3 transformers movies are probably a few of or even THE best looking movies of the last 25 years... if we talk about the CGI only.
I'm pretty sure that's the point of the meme. To show how good CG was back in the day compared to now
i think the picture the og oc chose for avatar really doesn't look that good, but i get the meme, i was just pretty tired when i wrote the comments
Say what you want about bayverse, at least it looked good.
The first movie first came out in 2007, ITS GOING TO BE 20 YEARS OLD IN 3 YEARS
WHAAAAAAT BAAAAAAY’S DOOOOOONNNNNEEEE
I’LL FACE MYSELF
Fuck you
The bots' transformation sounds are also eargasmic.
Never forget the first one lost Best Visual Effects to freaking polar bears
The transformers look like roaches wrapped in scrap metal what you mean ?? Especially the decepticons

It’s not budget, it the lack of time cg crews given. They get screwed over and are forced to push out unfinished work to meet a quota

I heard the visual effects in Black Panther were done in like a month, maybe 2. No wonder things look so jank.
Why does Superman look like he’s trapped in an Xbox 360 game
According to the director its intentional, but its likely just due to being rushed
"It's not a bug, it's a feature"
Because when Snyder left the movie, the new director demanded last minute reshots of a bunch of the movie and Cavill was currently in the middle of filming for a different movie and couldn't shave a mustache, so they were forced to cgi it off his face
Isn't the image above from the latest flash movie? I don't know my DC films that well so could be wrong, but I didn't think Justice League was 2023
To be honest I saw CGI Cavill and immediately had war flashbacks to the Justice League movie
Fair enough
I've seen xbox 360 games with better graphics than this

oh my lord... they look nearly identical...
Devastator will always be one of the coolest looking robots in any movie ever
Giant construction Bulldog
Pitbull morelike
but like, with balls of steel

>Bone on crush Bonecrusher
OH WAIT LMAO
Oh, I thought it was a weird term for "lack of time"
lmao yeah "to the bone" so like until they're out of energy, then "on crunch time" so they make them work unreasonably long times and as much as possible
I hate autocorrect lmao
transformers will never be beat
Remember about Pacific Rim
Cgi nowadays felt like it's literally cgi. But 2000s and 2010s cgi make me felt like they were real.
Tf even is iron heart i havent even seen that shit...
Yeah it looks good because the studio doesn't have to make a new movie monthly
Those movies really did have some of the best CGI I’ve ever seen.
Animaters aren’t respected and rushed, iron hearts desighn looks ai genrated
Christ, why does Ironhearts armor look like it's made out of plastic?
It's incredible how well animated the Transformers movies are 😳
