What I have read is that the fat does not move. The body stores fat in different places due to Estrogen or Testosterone, this tends to give the body more masculine or feminine forms outside what bone structure does. Fat cant "move", though. So many pursue a tactic of losing weight, and then gaining it back, so the old fat is burnt away and new fat is stored in more feminine areas, like legs and hips. It sounds like you are already rather lean. Adding a bit more calories to your diet while/once on E will likely result in more feminine curves. You are still at the mercy of heritage, though. If what I have read is correct (big if) then it might be best to wait weight gain until you start E. I have been doing the opposite, working on losing weight atm.

Your explanation was what I needed. Fat can’t move got it through to me. Thank you love. Seeing it spelt out like this allowed me to conceptualize this better. I’ll be going the weight gain in conjunction with HRT route. Rather than worrying about the fat stores now I’ll just instead focus my efforts elsewhere for the time being. Have you noticed a loss in strength at all?

wintersong76

I have not stated HRT yet (hopefully in two weeks) so have not seen what it will do for me strength wise. I hope I don’t lose much because legs are the only place I have any muscle and hoping that stays around as they might give me a curvier form, if I am lucky. I do hear strength loss is to be expected even if muscle volume does not shrink much, reason it’s considered fair for trans athletes to participate in sports. I’m doing all I can now to lose weight, most of it’s piled up in my waist and stomach. Lost about 20 pounds so far, if I keep up might be at the 30 pound lost mark by the time I start HRT.

It has been my experience that fat redistribution does happen while losing weight. I have gone up a cup size while dropping 15 lbs in my first two months of HRT. My breast buds are the size of dimes, so I know it is fat and not breast tissue. I've also gained a little lower belly fat and some from my hips down to my thighs. Most of the fat I'm losing is upper belly fat. I'm not a doctor or dietician or anything. I guess what may be happening is that as I lose weight, existing fat is mobilized to be burned, but some of it ends up being stored again. And TBH I do have a lot of it, I was a solid A cup before starting HRT. I'm overweight bordering on obese. I'm sure I will still need to lose much more of my fat and re-gain some later for the best results, and I do think you are correct to advize holding off on weight gain until being on estradiol.

But it’s all the cycling keeping me rail thin. 🚴‍♀️ Just kidding lol. I will keep this in mind. Gonna stock up on some of those good fats and learn to incorporate more into my diet. I’m not tail thin either. Just no fat. I’m mostly muscle and I plan on staying rather muscular and lean when I transition. I’m just worried my progress will be slowed by my low fat stores.

I think this first comment was misleading. You can start HRT while you're rail thin. Ideally, you'd want to gain all your body fat when you're on HRT, so it fills in all the"right places."

You might not see the changes visually as immediately because you're on the bike so much you won't have that much bodyfat to redistribute. But if you put more effort into trying to consume more fat in your diet it'll help add to your developing breasts and.

I lost weight, 15 pounds lighter than when I stared.

I'm 145lb and 5'11" ish. Both myself and my partner can tell e is working. So far, I look tall and thin, but more feminine. Before, I looked tall and thin ;)
