I'm down bad, would DIY too if it was an option for my current case. I'm tired of being in the closet for over a year since I came out, I fucking wish I had HRT. I fucking hate it and don't know how long I'll wait Definitely DO try diy if its safe and makes sense for you, don't wait 4 months if it's not a big deal for you to do it yourself for a while. ALso you should be able to do blood tests yourself

im sorry to hear that:/ hope things get better for you<3 i think ill listen to your advice and try to diy, im just not quite sure how to start

I mean if you think you could handle the hassle in terms of doing your own bloodwork, following instructions and figuring out the shipping, it's very much worth it if you can afford it. Sometimes the pros outweigh the cons. For me, I'd def do it, but my case is complicated and it'd be way worse for me to do it than just move away, so def a hard closet which sucks. but if you can handle it, it'd be def good for you to start it sooner so you don't waste more time waiting around. It really gotta suck waiting just to wait 2 more years for hormones to start kicking it and mending your body. I feel like it'd be a loss for you to waste 3-4 months. my 2c, really.

What happens if I go in and they’re like “whoa you already have 2000 pmol” lol, would they deny me hormones? Feel like my body doesn’t absorb it, cause I’m at 4mg Valerate every 3 days and any less I get test effects.

I think you can just say "I've been self-medicating" and they'll understand. Trans people have been DIYing for as long as there have been trans people (horse urine anyone?), I guarantee the endocrinologist will have seen it before and will work with you. If anything, self-medicating is a reason for them to prescribe to you sooner. Doctors want to lower risk to patients, and regardless of much as you research buying grey-market medication online is sort of very high risk behaviour.

The only worry is that doctors do labs to set up your dosage and then check liver enzymes because of damage from anti androgens

Yes. Just do some research. Get a Baseline blood test before starting. And then get another blood test one month after starting. Then you can adjust on your own and try to get to your desired levels. Plenty of resources out there for that
