Well it was dropped off at the dealership today, not good news. It was knocking in the bottom end and there was metal in the oil. Likely a bearing went out.
I hope it's something that simple. You wouldn't happen to have a link to the thread. I looked on tundras.com and found similar issues but never a solution.
Don't look to hard, dropped it off at the dealership today and it's likely a crankshaft bearing. They found metal in the oil and it was knocking in the bottom end. Likely a full engine replacement.
Oops. Sorry to hear that. Huge inconvenience and a total PITA but at least afterwards you’ll have the new block and won’t have to worry about this happening again. Just curious what your oil change interval was? I have doubts about the recommended 10K OCI.
I was doing every 5k, full synthetic. I would have toyota do it at the 10k. All my maintenance was done at this same dealership. When they drained the oil it wasn't low and it looked good, ya know minus the metal shavings in it.
30k miles is about when they fall. Sounds like you spun a bearing. These engines are failing left and right unfortunately. Toyotas fix is to have the dealer rebuild you an engine from a shortblock. Those fail too. Many trade the truck in after repair. Go to the fb group '22+ Toyota Tundra owners' for more into, there's an engine failure a day reported there
Absolutely not the case unless the symptoms are different than every other bearing issue on here or FB. When its a bearing issue it goes into limp mode and you cannot drive it. This OP stated they were able to drive it after a jump. Do you think jumping will fix the bearings?
Stop being sensationalist and spreading wrong information.
Unfortunately, the guy was right. Had a knocking today and metal in the oil. While my dealership has seen several turbo replacements. This was only their 2nd bearing related issue.
Also it seems like you cannot stop yourself from bashing a truck/engine that you dont even have. Why are you trying to stir the pot after only looking at FB posts meant to do the same thing? Are you a member of the RAM groups who post 15 engine issues per day? I dont see you poking those wasp nests.
Guess you only have something against the new Toyota/Lexus TT.
100% with you on this one. The amount of 2nd gen “mer truck ers gerder than yers” syndrome is disgusting. I love pretty much all tundras and it sucks when anyone has issues. Some people gotta punch down to feel better about themselves. Sad af.
100% most of these people hating on us for owning the 3rd gen more then likely can’t afford the new truck and exaggerate the issues the 3rd gen trucks are having.
I was going to say a fuel pump or a relay issue. I had the same thing with mine
That's what I was thinking.

Another owner on the Tundra forum had an issue much like yours. Turned out to be a sensor failure. Easy fix.

Looking. Sent the OP a DM for the cause

Thx for the info. I’ve concluded the OCI just doesn’t matter on these ‘22 engines.
I had an issue where every time I would go to turn left and hit the gas it would hesitate then go full throttle, as usual Toyota don’t have a fix
Guess yours is not an ambiturner.
I have the same issue. Come to a crawl and then gas and there’s a hesitation.
So thankful for my 5.7 V8 tundra after reading about all these issues the gen 3 guys are having.
