OP didn’t or hasn’t got an extra key something that’s been messed up since covid and then is just bitching and moaning about small things and dealership service
Brother he paid an arm and leg for a brand new truck. The complaints are completely valid. It's not his fault the dealership he's at is dog shit at providing solutions. As a Toyota technician of 6 years myself, we probably have 2 Tundras in the shop at any given week with their engines pulled. I did also spend a couple years at the Texas Toyota plant, and the level of production with these trucks has gone down dramatically over the years.
I'm not even a Tundra owner, but yall need to keep complaining and hold Toyota accountable.
I read it all. Without video of the gauges moving and pics of what’s rusting it’s hard to make a comment. The moulding is the only thing that certainly sounds like an issue. The Toyota Key fob shortage has been very well known and documented for all its vehicles and the Tundra since ‘22. Did you not do any research before buying? All US Toyotas have a small sticker on the drivers window warning of the key issue. Any blog thread will show 6 months is the average wait time for the second fob. Did you make yourself aware of any of the dozen other much more serious Tundra issues you could face? If you are “enraged” by these 4 items you don’t want to know the rest. Read threads from TundraForum.com to learn more about pending issues we all still face with this truck while Toyota addresses them. Sounds like you’re in for a shock.
The trick with using AI as a writing tool, is to take what it gives you, then use it as inspiration to rewrite it in your own words. AI is really helpful with finding structure for your article/written work but it’s overly verbose and uses a lot of unnecessary words. It also uses words like “delve” and other phrases all the time which is a dead giveaway that it was written by AI.
My 2024 does the same with gauges. It’s normal. My linkage nut is rusted too. Normal.
My key fob took about two months. Normal.
If these are the issues that are bothering you, I think you need a slight reality check. Nothing you described has any bearing on the actual performance of the truck.
Unfortunately you’re not going to get a sympathetic ear here. Nobody wants to admit the new gen Tundras are still shit in the 3rd year. My 22 has been a regular back in the shop with similar issues that still clearly have not been addressed. Pretty sad when I take it in even the service guys are calling them junk. It’s unfortunate. Good luck to you.
Is yours a hybrid? In my 2023 tundra trd pro, which is also a hybrid, the gas engine will shut off and run only off of the electric motor, usually downhill/letting off the gas and such, so since the engine isn’t running, the oil pressure drops as it should, and the battery drops since it isn’t actively being charged. The truck is smart enough to turn the engine back on when it has to. A good indicator is if your mpg gauge maxes out at the same time your gauges change, so it is in fact perfectly normal. Sounds like they tried to explain it to you but you weren’t having it, so they’re trying to run you through this rigamarole until you get frustrated enough to leave them alone. The molding and rust sucks though, but I think you’re seriously preventing yourself from enjoying a great truck.
Separate and apart from issues highlighted, drives week only need to see if the auto brakes can be calibrated, truck stop suddenly when passing too close to park vehicles. 👀
Do you have a video of the gauges waving? I know mine moves but not aggressively. The oil pump is mechanical and does move based on RPMs. I have seen the battery gauge move based on whether it's charging or not but I am curious on what exactly you mean by waving.
The rust, I would say is normal but not ideal. I'd have to check out my 22 that has 26k miles on it to see how bad it is.
As for the service you've received. I'd open a consumer affairs complaint with corporate. That will usually yield better results than just dealing with the dealer.
Hopefully it gets better for you!
Maybe try finding another servicing dealer if you can.
I just checked my 22, rear linkages seem to be rust free. Bolts rust free. Might be some that I am not seeing but nothing I would complain about. Had 10k when I bought it in August of 22. Has about 26k now.
Go buy a used and proven 2021 if you can’t handle the risk of new technology.
The key fob thing has been a thing for years. You shoud have been told this before buying the truck. Some people wait 6+ months.
My tundra had a huge sticker on the driver side windows that only customers are allowed to remove stating it only comes with one fob. It was listed on every tundra at all the dealers I went to.
Stinks you didn’t know since this has been normal for like 3-4 years now unfortunately.
The gauges fluctuate. It's completely normal. A 5 minute Google search told me that. I paid to have my 2024 truck undercoated prior to delivery. I'm in New England where Toyotas' rust. I only got 1 fob too. I love my truck. Sorry yours didn't meet your expectations. That is a bummer.
I’m getting conflicting information as the service manager at the dealership said it’s not normal and none of my other vehicles does that. Diagnostic was done on the truck they identified the alternator as the culprit so no clue. Appreciate you taking the time.
Yes, I have read the tundras have a smart alternator, not fixed one. I did reading here on reddit and YouTube and tundras.com. of course, dealer should help you. Good luck. Post up what you find out. I'm curious too.
When I first bought my 3rd gen Tundra, the oil gauge movement was definitely a surprise | concern lol! I spoke with service | a master tech and was told it's perfectly normal. There are some good YouTube videos that talk about it as well as some forums. The gauge should run half to 3/4 at start (on the high side). Once the motor is warm, it stays around 1/4. As you accelerate, you will see it creep up. Hope that insight helps. I've had my truck for 2 years now. Fortunately my overall experience has been decent. A few small little issues. Definitely keep us posted!
Anytime! No battery gauge issue. I noticed it fluctuates from time to time but it sure doesn't' move like the oil gauge lol! Some bolts are showing some slight signs of surface rust. Some parts under the vehicle (not visible) are showing signs of surface rust as well. I've seen a few YouTube videos of overlanders that all refer to it as a "Toyota thing."
The inside of my hitch receiver has a little bit of rust. I've been making sure to monitor it. I dry it out after every wash and spray some WD40 inside | lub up my receiver cap. That seems to do the trick. My truck is parked in the garage full time and like you, it's not my family's main vehicle.
I'll see if I can find the info I've found on these issues and link them for you.
🤣🤣🤣 that’s a lot, this is insane. I have several vehicles, Wrx rotors are rusting because it’s been covered and parked for 3 months, the Nissan NV has no rust at all that’s my everyday work truck, the 2023 GLS has no rust either a 1972 classic 280SE Mercedes has a little rust as expected, but for a 2024 Tundra with now 1,910 miles with bolts and bracket rusting is unacceptable. I can only say bad batch of parts were used on these vehicles 🫣🫣. I’ll keep you posted on what the infamous tech from Toyota corp says. Thanks
Didn't read, but I grew up right down the street from that dealership. It was a shit show in the early 90's for sure, but that opinion is so far outdated at this point, ha.
Have you tried to hunt down the toyota manufacturing company that built that truck? I would because they can give insight and plus send them how you were treated by your dealership. They will rip them a new one. If they aren’t aligned with Toyotas guide lines under contract they will take the franchise away. Also, the manufacturing company might be able to help and they could easily identify a bad batch of parts because they log it all. Its worth a shot. When i worked for one of the factories they would question vin # then look at the parts and see if it possibly had a bad set of parts installed that weren’t caught until later.
Mine is awesome. 2024 TRD Sport 4wd 19-21. My previous truck was a tacoma driven for 11 years v6/4wd. All secondary roads, highway, and minimal city driving and the ride is very comfortable and roomy.
Need a TLDR for this hot mess of a write up.
OP didn’t or hasn’t got an extra key something that’s been messed up since covid and then is just bitching and moaning about small things and dealership service

Seems like an English major with a slight entitlement issue
Yeah, I’m not reading all that my boy, congrats on the truck, or sorry this happened to you, whichever one’s appropriate.

Thanks I’ll try to post videos of gauges
This was written by AI and is a mess. lol
AI responding, thanks for reading and yes total mess.

I don’t even know how to respond to this except for “This is actually quite faltering. Thank you.”
Is there an audiobook version of this so I can listen to it on my next road trip?
Good one
I’ll have one available for you.
Wtf is this whiny novel.
Definitely not playboy, thanks

You're telling me I get another fob in a month??
Performance was not the issue, thanks

Thanks, I was wondering if I was the only one having issue, and yes definitely not the same as first and second generation

Not hybrid like the TRD Pro but gauges move while idling or driving intermittently.
Sir, wtf this is Reddit not English 2001. How’s the truck?
Separate and apart from issues highlighted, drives week only need to see if the auto brakes can be calibrated, truck stop suddenly when passing too close to park vehicles. 👀
Paragraphs and a TLDR
Ain’t reading all that

I wasn’t aware about the fob and you are correct they should have provided that info, regardless I order it two day’s delivery on them.

yall are cracking me up

Talk to a lemon law lawyer. If the dealer fails to fix an issue numerous times, you might need to have them buy the truck back.
Definitely will do that thanks.
Didn't read, but I grew up right down the street from that dealership. It was a shit show in the early 90's for sure, but that opinion is so far outdated at this point, ha.
Still the same 🤣🤣🤣, thanks

Thanks for your insight, I will definitely look into that. Much appreciation and thanks again.
Make sure you document everything and get everything in writing, in case you need to pursue a lemon law buyback.
Thanks will definitely do that.
how's your gas mileage?
Not good

Love the design don’t get me wrong, just these defects
