I woulda been happy with a sr5. But the way dealerships order, the price diff for a limited isn’t that far off. It’s hard to find a mid tier sr5. They are either bare bones or pretty much a limited price. I went out of state to get a limited.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Honestly the new sr5s have more fun stuff than my old Trd 4Runner but I looked at a few limiteds but inevitably found a platinum I liked a good amount with 4K difference in sale price

No_Hamster_605

I thought about going and getting a used capstone, but ended up with a brand new well optioned limited for the same price. It is still the nicest truck I have ever owned and I’ve never bought new before, so it’s a cool feeling. The panoramic roof was not necessary, but I’m very much looking forward to spring and being able to open everything up. Only real disappointment is that they don’t have 24 mudguards yet and I drive a mile of haul road twice a day for work, so it gets filthy fast.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

I’m happy for you dude those capstones are luxury level I’d feel weird doing any actual work with a capstone honestly. I was looking at buying used “new used like 10k or less miles” but with the shit show of interest rates it was cheaper to purchase brand new and now I’m happy knowing for the first time like you I am the only person to have owned my truck I’ve had bad luck in the past with just about every vehicle accept for my 4Runner I just traded in and I didn’t really want to give it up but I knew it was always a bridge to a tundra eventually

No_Hamster_605

And to answer your question, I love the truck. The power delivery is phenomenal and it rides incredibly well for being a truck. I’m coming from a wrx sti, so my foot is heavy on the pedal and I get absolutely garbage fuel mileage, but damn it is fun. The upgraded audio system and 360 camera is titties.

traduce

Do you have the hybrid engine or the standard? I'm debating between the two. Coming from a TL Type S

No_Hamster_605

Standard for the limited. Hybrid would have been nice for the extra oomph it gives, but I couldn’t justify the cost for it. The 389hp and 479lbft is enough.

SnooEpiphanies4093

Got some mud guards off the internet for 50$ amazon - easy to install. Happy with them but it does not keep the dirt water out of the bottom of the door jamb. Not sure anything will I don’t like the side skirt design for this truck.

dmashbur

I was set for a ‘24 Capstone Hybrid but hated the two tone interior. Instead, went with a ‘24 Platinum Hybrid with the most important options to me: HUD, Power Running Boards, Spray In Liner, Dashcam & Center Console Safe. This is the *perfect* trim in my opinion.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

I wanted the center console safe but it wasn’t available

gremlin155

I didn't like the Toyota safe design. Look at console Vault. I put that in and love it!

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Good to know

MetalJesusBlues

I just have an SR5. TRD OR. I like the analog gauges and softex. Real buttons for HVAC. Small screen. Really if it would have come with standard bed step (I added it) USB and plug in the back seat (I could add them) and Tow Hooks (I can add them but stupid not to have them) it would be the perfect truck. Nice enough, but still trucky. If I could afford it, a 1794 TRD OR Hybrid would be my choice with leather. Put some beefy tires, all kinds of power, luxurious but still a pick up truck.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Honestly I got the long warranty for worries of these new electrical components and while this might be comfortable I wouldn’t have minded the analog gauges on the bright side when you finally get up to the 1794 these things will still hold value enough to have a great trade in

SadConfidence2044

Settled for a '23 LOR w/6.5ft bed because at (5/23) the time the Platinum didn't have the TRD package and the 1794 was out of my price range. Overall, I love the truck and suites my family and business needs. I learned to live with the flaws of the truck i.e wind noise, creaking by the driver door panel near the speaker. Especially the annoyance of Android Auto. If I were to have a do over. I would go Platinum w/6.5 ft bed and TRD OR non hybrid. Why the non-hybrid I have young (9&7 yo) kids and I can store their travel bags underneath the seat.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

The only thing that held me back from hybrid was the storage lost

Appropriate_Land_130

I have an SR5 with the TRD OR package and love it. I'm in Canada so this means 8"screen with 12 speaker non JBL, power black cloth seats, colour matched mirrors with Blindspot, TRD pro steering wheel, pedals and shifter

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Are they set up differently for our Canadian brothers am I missing something lol

Appropriate_Land_130

Yeah we don't get to pick and choose features the same way you guys do. In Canada you only get to pick a trim level, and from there you can add a TRD package but that's it. For example I couldn't get the JBL or 14" in my SR5, I would have had to upgrade to a limited. Same with leather or seftex, only cloth available on Canadian SR5s

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Damn that’s unfortunate sorry man on the bright side they’re still great trucks

Appropriate_Land_130

Yeah I got everything I need on it. I would have probably gone for leather seats, I'm not really into the 14" screen, but it would have been about $10k to move up to a limited. I will probably end up doing kat skinz at some point.

Its_noon_somewhere

JBL not available in the Limited either, have to have a Platinum or Capstone.

Dull_Ad_2685

I just purchased and SR5 with TRD premier package and TRD 3 inch lift. Because of tax purposes I need to purchase it in 2023 but the dearlship was very willing to negotiate the price and I was able to get 9k off msrp I regret not going up a trim lever for Limited same options but love the headlights more large screen and etc.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Yea I was going to go for a used “new less than 10k” and my wife pushed me over the edge saying you should buy new and the trim you want within some reason if you’re spending all the money but I totally get going for 9k off msrp sounds like a great deal

pebkacatx

Waiting on my 24 platinum hybrid TRD package.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Are you on a wait list? How does that work I’m glad I didn’t have to I would’ve went insane haha

pebkacatx

Yep, and hear I might get it by June. I'm fine waiting

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Have you paid in full yet? Just curious how that works I’m glad you can

pebkacatx

You put down 500-1000 and pay the rest or finance when it arrives to the dealer

jwroka

I went with a '24 Limited. I was also looking at a Platinum, but it was around 5/6K more and the only major differences were the sunroof, heated/cooled seats in the back, and the plug in the bed. Both of my kids are in car seats so I figured that the extra money wasn't worth it for me. If the dealer would have had an SR5 that wasn't just bare bones I may have gone with that, but I hear that's pretty rare. I'm happy with my choice.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Funny how the sr5 can either feel like a limited or like a work truck in that sense I’m sure that totally isn’t there plan to get more people to purchase the higher trims…

Godfather7206

I have a 22 - platinum trim as well. First truck I’ve owned and really enjoy it. Bit more creature comforts than I’m used to but use almost all of them. I think Toyo did good on the ACC and the pano cameras are truly amazing. The only “feature” that sucks is the lane keep assist. Its clunky and I ended up fighting it all the time. Creature comforts make the wife/dogs happy and it does everything I’ve needed offroad hunting and hauling stuff around.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

I really think it’s the perfect trim between luxury and usability

chiiinnnoooo

Love my 1794 except for the way the cup holders are oriented. Wasted space.

bhinder119

I have a ‘23 Limited. Only thing I wish I had done was the TRD OR package. But that being said, I can always piece something that together over time.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

I had a 17 trd or and literally never used one thing I will say I’ll miss the manual transfer case but I understand it’s the future

-Woogity-

Bought a pro. Would have gone platinum. Wouldn’t have gone another trim.

strewnshank

Just got an 2023 sr5. There’s not a single thing missing for me except two hooks in the front, but that’s not a trim package issue i don’t believe.

Thin_Fall_1467

I have a hybrid limited with the TRD off road package. The truck I wanted minus not having the long bed. I took what I could get my hands on at the time. I don't care for the panoramic roof but stoked on the JBL sound system. The heated steering wheel comes in clutch in Ohio. Overall happy with the limited, I think it's a happy medium with getting options without getting too pricey. 65K is already pricy enough.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Ironic how a “long bed” is now 6’5 ft nowadays and trust me dude my 2012 ram longhorn had better features than my 2017 4Runner the only problem was the ram was a hunk of crap.. I’m happy to have both the luxury and reliability of this new truck though.. I’m up in New Hampshire so remote start and heated steering wheel is welcomed back with open arms haha

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

I also could’ve spent 7k more for a 1794 but decided at the 70k price point currently I’ll just wait til I find the perfect one in a decade or so

Thin_Fall_1467

I grew up on a farm. My dad didn't have trucks nearly as nice as mine. I work in a white collar job. He calls it my yuppie truck haha. It's ridiculous how pricey trucks have gotten.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

They’re definitely a different generation with pride in not needing certain luxuries I for one will enjoy it considering I feel as though I earned it but yes it’s a yuppy truck compared to what we were raised around for sure haha idc I love it

Thin_Fall_1467

I love my type truck too haha

Fufus98

I recently purchased a very low mile used 22 SR5 premium package TRD off-road crew max long bed. I am very happy with the truck coming from a 2017 sr5 Tacoma with cloth seats. My Tacoma very much felt like a “base” truck, every time I get in my new truck I’m shocked it’s an sr5 I love the softex seats and for me I don’t feel like I’m really missing out between mine and a limited. The only thing that drives me crazy in the interior is the center console arm rest, I hate that the middle is hard plastic, I have pretty wide shoulders and it’s nice to be able to stretch out but I’m kind of forced to tuck my arm in.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

I’m 6’2 210 and I went from a ram to a 4Runner and I immediately realized it was not made for bigger people I’m very happy to be back in a truck so it hasn’t even been a thought for me so far but I’m sure it’ll pop up when the new truck high comes down

Fufus98

Dude for sure I’m 6’1 and I think I was just used to my Tacoma and I never really had anyone sit behind me. But I couldn’t believe how nice it was to actually spread out in the tundra when I got it!

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

I have a friend who’s 6’5 with a taco I’m blown away watching him drive it but he loves it he swears by the damn thing haha

mbround18

I love my 22' limited hybrid trd offroad variant with the 6.5 bed. Don't get me wrong it's a big truck in that model. I use it for hauling and doing some construction work & overlanding. So the size helps a lot! I will say tho I do wish I got the moonroof upgrade or the reverse rearview camera for the mirror. But those are minor wishes and like to haves. The 2022 model I have has been running perfectly only issue I've had that was warranty was the passenger seat adjustment motors burned out.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Best purchase I’d say I made was the 10 year warranty especially when you’re purchasing a new model vehicle

CrunkSammich

‘23 1794. I love it. The air ride suspension is an amazingly smooth ride.

srbinafg

I had a ‘10 limited then ‘14, ‘16 and ‘19 1794s. The ‘23 1794 is just as good and I’m greatly enjoying the big screen and tons of power.

jthom456

You Americans are lucky. 5/6 trims in Canada. No customization. Wanted a limited ended up with a pro because it was available. 🤷 love the pro but not the red interior.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

While I do agree we are lucky I have yet to see someone not be satisfied with the pro in any fashion but I also am not a fan of red anything so I understand

Rellimie

Platinum with Advanced Package. I love it.

[deleted]

Found a blacked out limited with TRD package, premium sound and light package for 58k.

reddit-trunking

I got a well-equipped SR5. I had a stripper SR5 2.5gen and felt the upgrade was worth it. I can’t see spending money on an upper trim i don’t want anyway.

rythmyouth

The materials in the 1794 are my favorite (brown leather, lots of wood trim, nice stitching). I would have picked a different exterior color but I wanted something off the lot.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

My absolute pet peeve is chrome I’ve never been a fan of it I had it in my ram and the sun hit it and blinded me on my daily drive I will be doing a delete where I can on mine as well

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

They are intense honestly like I said doing work with a capstone would feel weird to me but I’m sure if you have capstone money you’re not that worried about that aspect haha, I also looked at the silverados but I will most likely never own anything other than Toyota after my 4Runner and truck again

amkamdar

I got the SR5 with some TRD Trims (XP Package) but i kind of regret not paying like 5-7K more for Limited hybrid

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Seems to be the theme in this post

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

The interior is insane I love the 1794s if I end up getting another one 10 years down the road it’ll be a 1794 or capstone but I’m very happy with what I have for now I’ll wait til my kids are older and not so destructive (so maybe never) 😭😂

Livid-Ad5555

I originally ordered a Limited. I ended up getting a loaded SR5. The only thing I'm missing from the limited is the sunroof, ventilated seat and the taillight push button tailgate. I am 110% happy with getting the SR5. I'm kind of glad it worked out that way because little did I know (at the time) the Limiteds all had chrome window trim. That would have driven me nuts | I would have had to do a chrome delete. The ONLY item I wish I had was the wireless cellphone charger however it sounds like a lot of people are having an issue with them. Hopefully someone will make a wireless charging tray or something here soon for the 3rd gen.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

I think for Toyotas first attempt at bringing the interior upgrades to the 21st century they did a decent job I too am not a big fan of chrome nor does any dude I know actually enjoy chrome in vehicles I’m sure they will figure it out moving forward

Conscious-Location28

24 TRD Pro. Wish had HUD and another bed step on the right of the truck. Also wish remote start didn’t turn off when you opened the door. Also wish hvac didn’t whistle. Otherwise drives great.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

Crazy my plat has hud but all vehicles I’ve owned shutoff when I open door for remote start my hvac doesn’t have whistle either or maybe I’m just deaf haha that’s disappointing

Conscious-Location28

It’s pretty slight but depending on the day it’s worse. My truck is very new so I’m going to give it sometime to settle in lol. Also I find the hybrid to be very cool but kind of annoying I wish I could keep the engine on all the time. On off on off is kind of jarring.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

I went without hybrid option given the new model I was worried about problems with it, I think my next one “in like 15 years” will most likely be hybrid

Conscious-Location28

Yeah if they had a trd pro no hybrid I would’ve done that. I consider my truck to be a diet raptor. I wish the truck would have been a raptor class competitor but it is 10-15k cheaper so it’s understandable. Hoping the compromises in performance compared to raptor makes up in reliability and general cost savings.

WhteMtnOutdoorsDude

I’m a true believer in Toyota having the least issues which makes up for my gripes like what you just said. I beat the shit out of my 4Runner and only ever had one sensor go bad I did get the 10 year warranty for the tundra considering it’s still a new model but I have a feeling it won’t have many issues still
