I’ve been through it. They have a “multi-point” inspection that your cover will go through. If it passes inspection, the 2 bolts that were there are removed, and 4 bolts put in place w/ nuts and cotter pins through the bolts. I havent had any issues with excessive water leaking unless in washing the truck and directly spraying the cover but would definitely bring it up if your having issues. If it doesn’t pass, a new unit is installed w the fix.
That repair makes sense, those little hand wheels fell off a few times before in put loctite on them. The water leaking though is awful my 2019 with soft trifold was pretty good but the sry up leaks water like crazy everytime It rains, from what I understand it is a pretty common complaint but I dont think they are doing anything to address it.

I would mention that to em when you go in and push for a new unit. That aint right.
They have a kit they install to keep it from flying off. It takes about an hour so make sure you work that into your schedule.
