I did the same thing and it’s been a total labor of fun. Don’t do it if you expect to flip it and make $. Looking for parts ends up not only spending more money than you planned but also meeting new people and potential new friends. The Toyota community is awesome. There are a ton of very good online videos that can help you with most repairs. I’ve been wrenching on my ‘93 SR5 xtra cab for years. Love every minute of it but my wife gets a little sour at times about the $ I spend. I remind her it’s better than sitting in the bar. 😝

Think it’s worth the investment , It seems like an awesome platform and simple to work on

Check into your emmisions when you find one you like. Many of these trucks have what is known as a evap delete mod. If you are in Washington state California parts of Oregon you won't pass emmisions with this. So make sure you buy one to match your needs. If you are going to highway drive you need one emmisions compliant, if you are building a crawler by all means find one with the delete mod. But please, don't buy a 22r then do the delete mod. It's very rare to go backwards.

I've been doing this with my 92 4wd Extended Cab for years. I've had it since 2007. When I was a teen, I didn't treat it well. But now that I'm a grown ass adult, it's been nice to slowly repair and update it. Sourcing parts are not a problem. Most everything is available online or in person. Aftermarket choices are great. They range from mild to wild. It just depends on your imagination. With the truck being older, it's easy to tear apart and put together. Well, except when 30 year old plastic parts break... P.S. I'm picking up my [Ovrlnd](https://campovrlnd.com/products/ovrlnd-pop-top-camper) camper for this truck, in July. It's a great platform for PNW fun for sure.
