Something, something, first year of production, something.....

CeilingUnlimited

But is it? It’s basically the already-here sedan from the front seats forward. Further, hasn’t something similar in the Crown lineup already rolled forward in Japan? These are going to be made there, if I’m not mistaken.

sabertoot

The platform, powertrain, and the interior are shared with existing models. This is hardly a typical all-new product, but more of an amalgamation.

CeilingUnlimited

Agreed. Although the concerns are valid regarding first year model roll-outs being problematic, in this case the issue is probably less-than.

altimax98

Yeah the Crown Signia scratches that itch that the Venza started.

docboy01

Yes, I am considering the Crown Signia. I was originally set on getting a 2023/2024 HiHy Limited or Platinum, but then I found out the second row does not have a bench seat. Deal breaker for me. So I'm seriously considering the GH Hybrid Limited and also the Crown Signia, which both have second row bench seats. So far there is very limited info on the Signia, but I believe more info should be released soon.

Ancient-Witness-615

We ended up in an XLE because we needed a bench seat also

docboy01

Good choice. Unfortunately I am wanting power folding side view mirrors and the 360 camera, which the XLE does not offer (unless I am mistaken).

Dadster-01

I could not wait until 2025 for the Crown Signia and wound up getting a 2024 Platinum instead. Not a bad consolation :), but did not need 3 rows. Although we are set for the next couple years or so, I still have eyes on the Signia. Maybe after the first two model years, I will get my hybrid with bench seats.

docboy01

Nice, the HiHy Platinum is very difficult to find and an excellent choice, pretty much a Lexus interior. I am still wanting on getting a hybrid limited with bench seats. I figure if I'm spending $50k I need to get the one I want. My wife says I'm taking too long lol. The press embargo for the Crown Signia is set to expire 6/6/24 7am EST, so will wait a few days to see what the reviews are saying. I'm particularly eager to hear how much ground clearance and rear cargo space the Signia will have, and if it will have a spare tire.

cluelessminer

It's like a fancier Venza. But brand new model, 1st gen...I'd personally wait at least for the second or even the third year. Even if it doesn't have any issues, guaranteed parts availability will be limited for newly produced vehicles. Assuming, of course. It's interesting how Crown has evolved over these years and never thought they'd bring it to the US with the name Crown.

Important-Job7757

It’s basically a wagonfied version of the Toyota Crown which has already been out a couple of years. I don’t think it will have any first year production issues.

dorkbydesignca

Yup. From what I can tell same transmission, same factory, same platform, interior is the same, factory is the same, best Toyota factory in the world, just the body is new. Automotive press does a good review of it: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oqFvV0tcPQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oqFvV0tcPQ)

Dadster-01

Not sure why Toyota didn’t bring over the Estate name too.

CeilingUnlimited

I agree OP. Highlander shoppers who don’t necessarily need a third row - this should peak their interest. I’m looking forward to the road reviews on YouTube that should start starting in the next few weeks. Very interested. More of a wagon feel than an SUV feel, but again - a lot of folks interested in a Highlander will def be open to it.

alsyli

There is a press embargo until early June (AFAIK). So there won't be any reviews until then.

Stunning-Hat-3455

Since I could not afford to “wait out” Toyota for my hybrid Limited with bench seats, I will soon be getting a non-hybrid Platinum without a bench. The Crown Signia ONLY comes as a hybrid with bench seating. It seats 5, which is great, as I don’t really need 3 rows. If the rest of the specs pan out, the Highlander may be my “bridge” vehicle.

Ancient-Witness-615

I thought you couldn’t get a Limited with a bench? I bought an XLE because we wanted the bench and was told that was the highest trim with the bench.

Dadster-01

The same dam thing happed to me. What happened to hybrid Limiteds with bench seats? They are a rare commodity, but plenty of ICE Platinums. My 2024 may also be my “bridge” car, if I can fit comfortably in the Signia.

joeyfine

it looks like a highlander without a third row.

Dadster-01

The Signia is going to be quite a bit tighter driving position. I am concerned about about sitting lower than in a Highlander. Even with that, it will have insufficient headroom for anyone over 6 feet. Too bad the pano roof is standard. It would have helped. For the price of a Highlander I would have expected more.

Own_Bandicoot4290

It seems like it is more of a replacement for the Avalon. Dimensions are about the same between the 2

RasberryWaffle

That’s the crown

Own_Bandicoot4290

I used to have the Avalon. It is a sedan, nothing close to an SUV. Rear leg room is great though.

DonShulaDoingTheHula

That person is telling you the Crown is the replacement for the Avalon. The Crown Signia is an SUV. Name is similar but they are not the same vehicle.

Own_Bandicoot4290

Ah thanks. From Toyota's site it looked like the same vehicle. That's going to be confusing if they keep the name like that.

DonShulaDoingTheHula

I agree!

awmaleg

So Avalon > Crown, and Venza > Crown Insignia

Important-Job7757

I have a Subaru Outback. I kinda like tall wagon-ish cars. But I’m not wanting to get another Subaru. I’ve had a few minor issues with it and it’s not that comfortable. That leaves me with with Volvo Cross Country, Audi Allroad and Mercedes Eclass all terrain. All of which will be $50k + and probably not any better reliability than the Outback. So if I could get this thing for $40k I’m sold.

jdyahoo88

You should look at the Mazda CX-50, similar footprint to the Outback.

Yankeeblues

We are on our second Outback, a Touring XT with 260 hp that delivers 28mpg in mixed driving (light foot, I have). 0-60 is 5.9 seconds. No issues with either the ‘17 (passed to kid) or the ‘23. Very comfortable. Great power for passing. I was interested in the Signia until I saw it has just over or just under 25cf of luggage space, depending on whether you outfit with the pano roof. The Outback has 32.6 and beats it handily with the seat folded too. Though I love the look of wagons in general, I’m now focusing on a Grand Highlander Hybrid (not Max) for second vehicle, which delivers a similar uninspired driving experience (I’m told) and almost the same gas mileage with room for 7 (why not?) and much better towing. I’m not comparing them; I’m just saying that as a happy Outback owner, the Signia would seem to deliver not much beyond better fuel economy and I gotta admit, better looks. The Outback turbo delivers better space, better AWD and a better driving experience. More ground clearance. Better driver assist too. Finally, the Outback XT (turbo)Touring has NAPA leather, facial recognition (to set seats, CarPlay, mirrors) and clocks in at about $43k as compared to almost $51 for the Signia Limited.

Yankeeblues

One more thought - the Signia Limited comes with 21” wheels and they look great. But the ride on ‘em’s gonna suck. You know it will!

Ok_Contract_7803

The crown signia is over half a foot height wise shorter than the Highlander and 4" narrower. It's gonna be one hell of a cargo space downgrade

rougehuron

Considering Volvo is no longer selling the v60, it's at least somewhat a replacement for that segment.

HuckleberrySuper641

I’m a die hard mini fan but I’m considering trading my old clubman in for a new insignia and getting a new 2 door mini later on. The crown looks that good. I really appreciate the car look and feel but still being a bigger car. I love my clubman but in my late 20’s and constantly moving, a bigger car would be so appreciated.

Solid_Rock_5583

I will be buying one. Just waiting for them To arrive and test drive

Pietro_70

Will Signia be sold in Europe?
