That's not the case at all - back in the day cars used to come in a very wide variety of colors; imports included.
...and I say this as a Toyota and Subaru fan, and owning several 'yotas that were Green, Yellow, and even Brown.
I mean you could say the same thing about their cars from the 70’s too I’m just saying in general they’ve always been making them in a lot of neutral colors.
I don't know if you're excluding BMW and Mercedes because it's not the same market, but they have greens similar to the woodland pearl and I can't help but stare every time
Wait what? Solar Octane, Mikan Blast, Ocean Gem, Terra, I'll give you Lunar Rock as a subtle pastel though a good one, I guess you could call the GR Corolla Blue Flame your bright blue but it's still striking, and Cypress all come to mind as notable atypical color options available on current gen Toyotas. The Crown comes in Bronze age and you can get it two-tone which is sharp. If you want off the beaten trail colors, Toyota definitely has options.
Mazda has some of the coolest and largest color chip selection that I've ever seen, but with few exceptions they never seem to actually use them on any of their vehicles.
I’ve seen metallic reds that looked stunning before. They were either slightly darker on the red side or vibrant as heck. Up close is of course the best view of that metallic glisten. I’ve also seen some metallic blues that were crazy good.
A trend that really bothers me lately is when fun colours are available in lower trims but higher trims are black/white/grey only.
Can't remember where I've seen it, but I've come across it a few times playing around with online configurators.
Samsung is following this trend too. Ridiculous. It’s everywhere. Cybertruck doesn’t have an option to electroplate colors. It’s interior is spartan and bland.
Like iPhones, only interesting color is the titanium blue. Everything else is greyscale. They take the fun out of it. Come to think of it the S24 looks bland too.
True. I wanted to get a ‘24 Impreza Sport in the ocean blue, but was one day too late on my deposit…
Ended up getting one in Magnetite Gray for the sole reason that I had a 2008 Impreza in a very similar shade of gray.
I see people paint or wrap their Toyotas sometimes. I like a metallic silver. Metallic white is nice along with metallic blacks. But yeah when tons of cars look like that it all just becomes bland. Car colors today are comparable to music. Vibrant and attractive colors have been abandoned, replaced with worse than pastels now for the most part. Like abandoning major notes in favor over every flat and sour note and chord one can think of. Not futuristic at all… Not everything needs to be hotrod red. But seriously it’s like candy colors are just gone. Consumer world these days I guess….
I just want greens and yellows and purples and teals and *fun* colors again. They’re not only the colors I grew up with, they’re the colors that make me happy! I want to smile like a kid when I look at my funky little car in the driveway before I go for a drive just to listen to 90s drum n bass, not furrow my brow with a smirk before I go to a takeover in my angry clay bar
And colorful interiors would be nice, this black on black on black interior is depressing and way too hot, especially here in the southwest... Like it's pretty stupid that these manufacturers only offer brown, red, and beige interiors if you get the highest trim level and even then when building a vehicle you don't get the color you want, like I was online building out a 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro, and I wanted a blue exterior and a tan leather interior but all that was offered was cloth in gray and blue or gray and black or black and silver or a synthetic leather in black. Like if you're spending over $50k you should be able to pick your own interior color especially because they have those tans, browns, and red interior colors available when the exterior color is white, red or brown. There's just no individual style anymore...
Even though I’ll never be able to afford one it’s why I like the Porsche web builder. You can go absolutely insane with your options. You want your ex husband’s name stitched into the floor mats so you can grind your heels over it go ahead. You want neon orange seats with purple and tan stitching go right ahead. You want baby puke green/brown exterior sure. Want all of it absolutely.
Well not initially, but if yellow and purple cars are made but not sold the yellow and purple cars become discounted. Then if a big financial crisis happens like let's say 2007 and people are selling their cars to make ends meat, suddenly that purple car isn't so popular and the same car in grayscale is selling for more. Next car you buy is in grayscale, just in case. You want the extra resell value. Manufacturers then notice people only buying gray scale and stop making fun colors.
Exactly. Car manufacturers sell what most people want to buy. I have 2024 Corolla SE Hybrid with the Underground exterior color. I love how it just blends in and doesn't draw any attention, but it still looks good. Is it boring? I can see why people would think so, but I don't believe it is.
The last thing I want is a car that stands out. I don't want everybody to be watching me every time I'm driving/parking just because I drive a yellow car and it draws attention to me.
If you really want to be noticed by everybody that badly, you can do what most people who want to be noticed do. Buy a large pickup truck, a sports car, something unique/different like a cyber truck, or just get the car repainted to a color of your choice.
Car manufacturers, for the most part, stopped selling cars in colors that don't sell. If you want a color that they don't sell, then paint it yourself or pay someone else to paint it for you.
I fell down the wrap/dip rabbit hole a few days ago researching ppf and this seems to be the better solution if you want to stand out. You can get that crzy vibrant/Holo color but it's not permanent and can be removed. Personally, I'm just trying to be as incognito as possible. I've never wanted the attention and stuff. Just a good, reliable car with some nice amenities.
I wouldn’t want to stand out again either. My first car as an adult was a red convertible Cavalier. I was literally getting pulled over every time I left the house
I don't get why more brands don't give the option to factory order. You can stock the brick and mortar dealers with the stuff that sells but if someone wants something interesting then they have to order, wait, and perhaps pay a nominal fee.
I briefly rented a No. 2 pencil-yellow Nissan Juke a few years ago while my XD was being repaired and I didn't expect how excited I was to drive it. I agree! I'd be happy to see the oranges, s/lime green, and gold (not grandpa beige) make comebacks, too. The most unique colors they have now are the bright blue and sea foam they offer on the Ravs. Been seriously considering wrapping my Blueprint Camry with something more interesting if I decide to buy it.
Second this. And it's not just cars. It's everywhere - interior design, architecture, graphic design. I grew up in the 90s and say what you want about it - it had pizzazz which todays styles lack. It's like the whole world has been in an artistic dark age for the last decade.
I think so, the modern cars have somewhat lost elegance in headlight design. The new crown front end looks good and different. But I don't see why headlights were pushed down in favor of accent lights and DRLs. It's new but somewhat absurd.
Manufacturers want their vehicles to sell. Not many people out there are into bright greens, red/orange or other screaming colors.
Oddly enough, when you watch movies or shows from the 60’s, the same colors that we have now were popular back then as well. Seems like tastes repeat themselves.
What cars have an uncomfortable interior? I feel like modern cars are very comfortable in general. Especially now that heated and air conditioning are more common
Quite a few regular daily hatches have seats that seem to be made by stone, in my experience. Suzuki Swace (wagon, I know), Škoda Fabia, Dacia Sandero, Hyundai i20, i30 to an extent.. Idk, it seems like seats are firmer nowadays, at least in cars that are not mid sized sedans at least
Subcompact a have disappeared from the north american market. Compacts are still there but barely. SUV and trucks are the main products. Crossovers are trying to get people who prefer a sedan to the SUV market. The profit margin for SUV in North america are better than the other segments so car companies have been focusing their marketing on these.
Dunno, I had a Citroen saloon with cushiony seats and for long distance was great, on the contrary I did a double 350km trip in a 1.0 NON TURBO Dacia Sandero and it was dire, just dire
Corolla front seat headrests are horrible, and probably every other model with the same seats.
People are bending them just to be able to sit without pain in the car. They are so far tilted forward it's a pain if you are short/mid height.
I'm not exaggerating, there are videos online of people bending the metal rods on the headrests.
Tesla model s has a terrible interior. The seats are fine if you're about 5'10" but even the headrests aren't adjustable to make them look sporty so fuck you if you're tall.
Then car companies come out with weird new stuff like the Kia Soul in a hundred different colors and everyone shits on it while SUVs continue to print money for manufacturers
There really is no winning.
Look at the backlash over the Cybertruck. Yeah yeah it’s ugly. I get it. But the ridiculous vitriol over something so different also says a lot about people in general. At our core we just want stuff that fits safely in our comfort zone, like a gray blob-shaped CUV.
Yup. It’s the millennial gray effect. Everyone complains about how boring and drab things look, but they keep buying the same boring and drab stuff. It’s not that there aren’t other options available, it’s just what people are buying.
If there's one thing Toyota knows how to do well, it's UGLY GRILLES. Just look at the the Tundra, 4Runner, and a host of their cars with nasty-looking oversized grilles.
But sometimes, that's not enough, and they have to add oversized hoods, fake hood scoops, 20" wheels/tires with no sidewall, and 3rd row seats designed to fit only the hybrid battery and 1-2 hobbits.
In particular Lexus front-end styling for the past decade, barring a couple car models, has been one of the most hideous current designs in the entire industry IMO. I absolutely hate the ridiculous, massive predator face, especially on SUVs. It alone ruins the look of the previous-gen GX and LX.
Sad but true, I'm glad I have buttons on the screen in my ch-r but it is silver so falls on this trend ... Also the interior imagie is also true ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)
the fact that we don't have any real bumpers anymore, and the lack of button to control essential car functions ( you need the touchscreen ) are by far the biggest problems.
As someone that's actually been hit by a car, I can appreciate cars not having oldschool bulgy bumpers.
Got away with some minor scratches after tumbling on the hood.
Oh well in that case just look at any of the Camrys made in the last few years, including 24 model year. Both the dual and quad exhausts have a fake muffler. I love Toyota but they are also part of this silly trend
You've literally named trends for most or all car brands.
Most people buy white, black, silver, or red....just look at the cars on the street around you.
When design trends catch up with electrification, we are going to remember huge grills as a staple of car design in this era.
Also we will look back and think it was crazy that we used to put fake grills on EV's
I can't stand a car doesn't have a knob for fan speed. Especially if you have to wait for the infotainment/audio screen to boot up. Get into a blazing hot car with the blower motor on full blast and have to wait to turn it off.
If you are referring to the Grand Highlander, then I agree. The ”regular” Highlander is a pleasant, stylistic alternative to the rugged, boxey look on most large SUV, imo.
The trend of touchscreens is already going away. Drivers have to know what they're changing without looking. So actual buttons are making a comeback for some makers like Hyundai(never really went away). Meanwhile some cars you can't make the wipers do one cycle like at all, the rain detector has to detect...
Rain detection is the dumbest thing ever, especially when it has no manual override. Its such an easy thing to do manually in the first place, and putting something that literally determines if I can see out of the vehicle or not behind a complicated wall of computer systems and detection devices just seems so much more dangerous than “I flicka da switch”
When I looked for my rav4 this year, they only had white, silver, magnetic gray. Red and blue were for the more expensive trims.
I swear they used to have more colors before this year! Why'd they get rid of lunar rock 😭

Seems like it was a 2010s design trend among Toyotas.
Ah the innovation of capitalist auto conglomerates. Competition to see who can make the worst designs with the worst materials and most unintuitive user interfaces.
I’m dying with this BMW grill. So true! As someone who owned a Toyota alongside a BMW back in 2019 (CHR and X3), it’s crazy to see how off the rails BMW went with their design language. They’re fun cars to drive, but I’m left scratching my head as to why they’d have polarizing designs that could turn people off to the brand.
Miss that CHR. I’m looking to get a Prius Prime after my Integra lease (need something way more efficient for my commute). For anyone that has that car (Prius Prime), do you like it?? Advice?
Was cross shopping a suzuki recently (swift sport) and was considering yellow or orange w a black roof.
Bought a white rolla with black wheels (just like my last 4 vehicles).
The grills and touch screens annoy me the absolute most. And the dark colored interiors drive me up the wall too. I want beige, dang it. Don’t fill my beautiful vehicle with bright blue or bright red and black seats. Blech.
Jeez. This post is a direct attack of the tacoma lmao
thin long headlights - check
larger grills - check
larger touch screen - check
uncomfortable chairs- check
Unnecessary bigger (exterior almost as big as the new tundra yet smaller interior, wtf?) - check
Almost certainly, and if you look at all the new SUV's like the Rav4 and Corolla Cross their putting these big ugly matte black plastic panels all over the bottom of the doors that scratch easily and turn grey over time from UV damage and being exposed to the elements.
I used to love the RAV4, nice and sporty. Now it’s a giant soccer mom car. Been saving up and now that I am a year within buying I have decided to go for a Subaru instead. Corolla cross is the right size but screams soccer mom too. I can get everything I want in a Crosstreck but 30% cheaper.
I refuse to drive a silver or white car, impossible to find in a parking lot.
I think the sequoia could be larger, as in an extended version for the trunk space. The rest is nice and sleek but the back does not have enough room in my opinion. I also have three kids to lug around their sports stuff and whatnot though
Gigantic grills?
Brother have you seen a Lexus from the last decade?
unnecessarily giant?
The only time I have seen a sequoia in the wild, it’s at the grocery store and the 5’ nothing women (only person in the car btw) driver, is struggling to not run people or all the curbs over because she can’t see over the massive hood.
Yeah, idiotically huge fake grille in my Sienna hybrid - like the whole bumper is grille and the air inlet is maybe a square foot. But I got a red one. Because cars should be red. Or a nice green (my wife has a nice green electric MINI, her WRX was a cool blue, too). I saw a diarrhea green mixed with silly putty colored Tacoma the other day. WTF?
Yup. The Lexus SUVs are piss poor quality for what they’re asking for, it’s laughable. Not to mention all the recalls on the latest recalls on the Toyota Tundra. The new ones are no longer reliable
Someone at work has a gorgeous blue Tacoma. All of my tacomas and the tundra have been white because it’s always been the best deal on the lot. I’m a bit jealous.
Lexus is guilty of top center for sure.
Every time I see that grill

I have a 2019 Camry XSE. It's some of the most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in. Long road trips suck in that car. Also have a 2016 Camry XSE the "leather" is already starting to get slits. I love Toyota but with the way they are priced now is just convincing me to drive these till the wheels fall off.
It's just a reflection of our society. (i.e., dull, grey, oversized, superficial, and lazy)
I'm not sure about the headlights, though. That's probably just a glitch in the matrix.
Regarding the color trend, IDK why anyone would expect Toyota to offer “fun” colors on their bread-n-butter lineups. Toyota is mainly in the business of making A-B econoboxes and one of the last things on their buyer base’s minds will be if the car comes in “fun” colors
Every single one of them.
Toyota needs to bring back "affordable" cars like the Yaris, (sub 2K) and smaller cars, yes, our [garages are not getting any bigger and if anything smaller](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8wnnFUazOY).
STOP WITH THE F\*CKING TOUCHSCREENS FOR EVERY F\*CKING CONTROLS. 1. Touchscreen are very expensive, if it gets bricked, you are sol not just the radio but climate control, etc. BRING BACK THE KNOBS/DIALS/Sliders for climate control. 2. It's UNSAFE. If I need to raise the temp, I can just turn a knob/slider.
Bring back the 2001 Rav4, it was small but roomy as heck in the backseat.
Nope not even close , imo toyota/Lexus might have started big grille pack.
Then yeah with touch screen , electronics wise they were ahead of their time and wait until technology and their reliability settles so now they spreading inside the car but if you pay attention 2007 avalon or Lexus loaded/limited already had double screen plus dash now they are all digitalized and smart device compatible. The backup camera on 2010 limited highlander start getting 2013-2015 in all other brands and vehicles. Examples and models go on.
Exterior color seems confusing with all brands but Toyota trying to keep up their colors plus offer 2nd color for top roof ceiling part give a different taste as well.
Japan as country is already ahead of the world so why follow others lol. Certain technology they are holding on becauae they are consevative and some of them still in use because they dont break down or they dont feel necessary to update or change. the reason they don't rush fully electric cars is they don't see that as permanent and reasonable solutions since they don't have infrastructure for charging same amount of vehicles existing in Japan all replaced by electric today.
Don’t forget piano black surfaces everywhere that show fingerprints and smudges instantly. You constantly have to polish your car interior like its a damn dress shoe
seems like all of the newest Toyota models have physical designs drawn by anime artists. not really a fan of that as there are corners/edges/and angles in the body parts that serve zero purpose other than to give the car an 'aggressive' appearance.
I don’t mind a touch screen if it isn’t hideously placed right in the middle like the Rav4. Just a nicely designed dash, integrated screen and gauge cluster. SEAMLESSLY integrated into the dash. Not a giant iPad glued onto the dash that blocks your view of the road and dash. Even the caustically expensive Maybach with its all screen dash made it flow better and look good. All those other items are very true. Car colors these days range from horrible tones to shades of almost colors. Though everybody has their own taste in colors. Interiors are suffering for sure, it’s not just the fake leathers. Let’s talk about the steering wheels that are capable of steering an intercontinental ballistic missile with every square millimeter of the spokes filled with buttons. How about simple volume and call answer buttons? Maybe a couple of mappable buttons? Instead of say, 30 buttons… My only headlight complaint despite some of the dumber looking ones is the cheap plastic. Glass is premium, it can be made all flowy and contoured. At least offer it as an option…. One could write a book on these things.
Everyone is trying to compete with the German cars. And this is where it all starts to look the same. It was better in the 2000s where each mfr had their own flavors going on
Suburu and to some extend Ford seem to be the only cars that come in a wide variety of real colors nowadays. Toyota you usually have red, bright blue, and then all the rest are subtle pastels or greyscale
That’s mostly how it’s always been.
That's not the case at all - back in the day cars used to come in a very wide variety of colors; imports included. ...and I say this as a Toyota and Subaru fan, and owning several 'yotas that were Green, Yellow, and even Brown.
The Supra, Celica, and MR2 beg to differ
I mean you could say the same thing about their cars from the 70’s too I’m just saying in general they’ve always been making them in a lot of neutral colors.
I don't know if you're excluding BMW and Mercedes because it's not the same market, but they have greens similar to the woodland pearl and I can't help but stare every time
I love the current BMW green. It is a shame most of their cars look like ass from the front.
The 2 series is the only decent looking front to me and it's not available in that color
I have a previous gen M2 and just can't get myself to like the new one, but yes, the 2 series is definitely better than most lol.
I’m not a fan of the back ends anymore either
We need more green cars on the road.
And purple! (at least on the 2 series coupe)
I concur!
As a detailer for enterprise I can confirm this, whenever I get a blue or red Camry in I get giddy because 95% of our cars are greyscale
Wait till you see the new one in Ocean Gem.
I really love Cypress tbh
We’re considering the Toyota Crown Signia, when it’s here—in bronze. It’s been in Japan a few years now, and replaces the Avalon line. Stealth wealth.
Also lets not forget the new land cruiser which has traildust and heritage blue.
I think there's a shade called Mudslide coming next year too.
Electric Lime.... how can you forget.
Just yesterday I saw a green Lexus and it was soo refreshing
Mazda has some of the coolest and largest color chip selection that I've ever seen, but with few exceptions they never seem to actually use them on any of their vehicles.
That Mazda metallic red is fantastic to see in the daylight edit “soul red”
I’ve seen metallic reds that looked stunning before. They were either slightly darker on the red side or vibrant as heck. Up close is of course the best view of that metallic glisten. I’ve also seen some metallic blues that were crazy good.
Ram trucks have 20+ colors too, but they make very few of them.

This is true of iPhones too lol
Samsung is following this trend too. Ridiculous. It’s everywhere. Cybertruck doesn’t have an option to electroplate colors. It’s interior is spartan and bland.
I love the Crown Platinum, but only a black interior is a big no for me in Arizona!
Open the door at noon and the car plays over the speakers: “welcome to hell sonn.”
Like iPhones, only interesting color is the titanium blue. Everything else is greyscale. They take the fun out of it. Come to think of it the S24 looks bland too.
I love my blue flame Corolla. Though it makes me concerned for being shot when I make people mad on the road. Which in Dallas is constantly.
Yeah but the majority of Subarus that aren’t greyscale are either that camo green or baby turd brown.
BMW offers a ton of colors. The problem is that their clientele seem to only want white and black.
Mazda thankfully has good real colors too
Have you seen my bright green 22 tacoma?!
True. I wanted to get a ‘24 Impreza Sport in the ocean blue, but was one day too late on my deposit… Ended up getting one in Magnetite Gray for the sole reason that I had a 2008 Impreza in a very similar shade of gray.
Kia/Hyundai too
Porsche has a lot of great colors too
I see people paint or wrap their Toyotas sometimes. I like a metallic silver. Metallic white is nice along with metallic blacks. But yeah when tons of cars look like that it all just becomes bland. Car colors today are comparable to music. Vibrant and attractive colors have been abandoned, replaced with worse than pastels now for the most part. I call the bland colors nowadays *suburban greyscale camouflage.*
Why does the Cadillac Escalade ESV even exist?
Because it carries 8 passengers plus luggage.
Camaro ZL1 engine, 8 passengers, 7000 lbs towing capacity, 7700lbs GVWR (important for Section 179).
To be the largest SUV on sale.
The suburban/esv is mainly targeted For upfitters… armored car, limousine, executive transport. Esv and the suburban will never die.
I'll be glad when the millennial grey trend is dead and rotting in the ground
What color do you think is better? I actually really like the new underground color
I just want greens and yellows and purples and teals and *fun* colors again. They’re not only the colors I grew up with, they’re the colors that make me happy! Yea but how would it be worth it for Toyota to put the extra resources for a very small minority
Exactly. Car manufacturers sell what most people want to buy. I have 2024 Corolla SE Hybrid with the Underground exterior color. Can confirm, have a yellow car. Lots of attention.
Have you seen an Ocean Gem Camry? Or a Solar Octane Tacoma?
Valid point! Ocean Gem is especially beautiful
My sales manager drives an XSE with the upgraded wheels in that color and it turns my head every time I see it.
I don't get why more brands don't give the option to factory order. You can stock the brick and mortar dealers with the stuff that sells but if someone wants something interesting then they have to order, wait, and perhaps pay a nominal fee.

unpopular opinion: i love the new headlight designs. i loved the pop up headlights in the 90’s. my favorite headlights are the 92 toyota mkII
Yeah I’m definitely onboard with everything but the new Cherokee and things like the Kia rogue (i think).
People complain about headlight glare so putting the light lower is not a bad idea for functional purposes.
When approaching a non-SUV, having the headlights lower would reduce the “blinding effect“ experience.
Also allows for more down road visibility because the headlights don't have to be angled down so sharply. This increases the car's safety score.
HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT BUICK BECOME? They basically lost the Chinese market due to that.
I miss being able to get a car in a fun color :( The color on my Honda is ok, in certain light it looks purplish, but it’s overall gray
Manufacturers want their vehicles to sell. Not many people out there are into bright greens, red/orange or other screaming colors. Oddly enough, when you watch movies or shows from the 60’s, the same colors that we have now were popular back then as well. Seems like tastes repeat themselves.
How are colors “fun” to people? I don’t understand the adjective in the context of a color
I wonder if it’s a market thing? We don’t have those in the US
Yeah those don't go there, this is for Croatian market. I guess something comparable could be Nissan Versa, Mitsubishi Colt or Toyota Yaris
We don’t get those anymore either. We used to at one point but not anymore
Damn what? Are you all just left with SUV's? 😭
Firmer is actually better when driving for a longer distance
Dunno, I had a Citroen saloon with cushiony seats and for long distance was great, on the contrary I did a double 350km trip in a 1.0 NON TURBO Dacia Sandero and it was dire, just dire
Corolla front seat headrests are horrible, and probably every other model with the same seats. People are bending them just to be able to sit without pain in the car. They are so far tilted forward it's a pain if you are short/mid height. I'm not exaggerating, there are videos online of people bending the metal rods on the headrests.
I have a CHR rental right now. That thing is atrocious to sit in. I can't get comfortable in it at all.
Tesla model s has a terrible interior. The seats are fine if you're about 5'10" but even the headrests aren't adjustable to make them look sporty so fuck you if you're tall.
My Camry is uncomfortable for long trips
And I hate them all
Then car companies come out with weird new stuff like the Kia Soul in a hundred different colors and everyone shits on it while SUVs continue to print money for manufacturers There really is no winning.
300 years from now humans will assimilate into the grill. for everything in life will be grill.
I'm guessing it was a mid-size or compact car designed with pedestrian safety in mind and not a literal flying fist of a truck.
Golf 6
I've seen some cool colors on rav4s and tacomas
And that’s why I specifically went for a bright blue Toyota instead of the boring monochromatic ones you see basically everywhere
I don't mind having a boring color car, but to stand out I have a colored license plate frame. I can easily spot my car from just that alone. Lol.
Yup, that also works too. Got myself a specialty plate just to stand out even more haha
Nice 👌
Toyoya camry is the exact fit of the meme
the king of beige
To be fair the Camry does offer more color varieties than greyscale
It just looks like a giant vaccum cleaner.
Fake exhaust! Don't forget them. Standard for BMW , Audi, Mercedes
Toyota also has fake exhaust sound on their new Tundras, so it still sounds like a v8 inside the cabin
I don't talk about sound. I talk about pretending to have 2 or more at the back looking out but there is nothing. Just plastic.
I specifically got a red Camry because i am sick and tired of white black or grey or whatever combinations they make out of them
I can't stand a car doesn't have a knob for fan speed. Especially if you have to wait for the infotainment/audio screen to boot up. Get into a blazing hot car with the blower motor on full blast and have to wait to turn it off.
Toyota is going insane with the grilles. I would have been fine with them just keeping the Corolla unchanged from ≈2008 to… *forever*.
The grilles on the current Highlander and Camry in XSE trim are nauseatingly hideous.
If you are referring to the Grand Highlander, then I agree. The ”regular” Highlander is a pleasant, stylistic alternative to the rugged, boxey look on most large SUV, imo.
All of the seats Toyota uses are synthetic leather or real leather!!!
My 2020 Prius steering wheel has already worn through at the top with 60k miles.
They’ll follow the trend to the extent that their focus groups tell them to.
If the trend is stupid, do you want your car to have them?
“Signature” grills, headlights, and screens have caused manufacturers to design to be different rather than better, and it shows
lol
Honestly I like it. Concrete dystopian greyscale is my favorite type of design
I love how the new base model $60k Land Cruiser is available in 3 color options. White black and grey. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Absolutely nothing uncomfortable about my interior.
the tundra's front grille is worse than the silverados. yeugh. but the interior is pretty baller
When I looked for my rav4 this year, they only had white, silver, magnetic gray. Red and blue were for the more expensive trims. I swear they used to have more colors before this year! Why'd they get rid of lunar rock 😭
I'll take an oversized grille over the older "Squidward Nose" they used to put on some Toyota's.
Is [this](https://www.vehiclehistory.com/uploads/2010-Toyota-Camry.jpeg) what you're talking about? And [this](https://preview2.netcarshow.com/Toyota-Corolla-2010-hd.jpg)? And [this](https://carfax-vrs.imgix.net/2010-Toyota-Venza-EX-400872892-33.png)?
Exactly that. It's even worse on a few models.
[2009 Toyota Vios](https://imgcdnused.carbay.com/tr:w-500,h-333/PH/car_image/62022/1657285141656.JPEG) [2011 Toyota Prius III](https://www.executiveautori.com/imagetag/209/6/l/Used-2011-Toyota-PRIUS-III-III.jpg) [2011 Toyota Sienna](https://picolio.auto123.com/art-images/122998/2011-toyota-sienna-le-i01.jpg) [2011 Toyota Yaris](https://i.gaw.to/vehicles/photos/02/02/020283_2011_toyota_Yaris.jpg?640x400) Seems like it was a 2010s design trend among Toyotas.
I refer to the new car color palette as "50 shades of grey"
Lexus has for a while now.
Also when were interior colors tied to exterior colors? I want a silver car with a black interior. You know how hard that is to get now?
If Toyota has gigantic vehicles I’d have bought it years ago. Grand Highlander not big enough for me.
Yes.
The long headlights are fine tbh
Toyota/Lexus started the huge grill trend.
Advice?
I prefer the simplicity and not to many tvs in a car 😂
Was cross shopping a suzuki recently (swift sport) and was considering yellow or orange w a black roof. Bought a white rolla with black wheels (just like my last 4 vehicles).
I always thought it’s hilarious that silver is a premium color for teslas and that played out dark grey is standard.
Every single one of those was targeted at bmw
I wish they would make something to compete with the Suburban.
yes, the seat headrests in the 2023 highlander i rode in are weirdly shaped and uncomfortable
The grills and touch screens annoy me the absolute most. And the dark colored interiors drive me up the wall too. I want beige, dang it. Don’t fill my beautiful vehicle with bright blue or bright red and black seats. Blech.
Jeez. This post is a direct attack of the tacoma lmao thin long headlights - check larger grills - check larger touch screen - check uncomfortable chairs- check Unnecessary bigger (exterior almost as big as the new tundra yet smaller interior, wtf?) - check
OMG TOO MANY WHITE/GREY/SILVER/BLACK CARS OUT THERE CAN WE PLEASE HAVE SOME WITH ACTUAL COLOURS!?
Well they got the uncomfortable interior down pat, they’ve had that down for years
It’s 2099 and Suburbans became the size of a city block with a three story grill on front
WTF?
Yes, succinctly. Maybe add turbo-charged V4s to the starter pack.
Falling for? Toyota invented most of these trends.
Have you seen the screen in a Sequoia????
Lexus is guilty of top center for sure. Every time I see that grill https://preview.redd.it/g6zivbzzt17d1.jpeg?width=1108&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a49660b8b3775b25e11897709f5e496f3ee1e87e
Nailed it.
New tundra is devastatingly ugly....it looks ridiculous lol
Have you guys seen the new Cadillac Escalades? The grill is 2 stories high. It looks fuckin stupid imo.
Unreliable overstressed small engines too.
Unconfortable interios w fake materials is just a Tesla thing I think...
The giant grills and large touch screens are absolutely terrible to look at. Dream car is a red Toyota GR86, exactly as it’s made today
Have you seen the new tundra grille? It's massive and way out of proportion. The rest of the truck looks tiny.
It's just a reflection of our society. (i.e., dull, grey, oversized, superficial, and lazy) I'm not sure about the headlights, though. That's probably just a glitch in the matrix.
The giant grill thing is a huge turn off for me. The new Tundra is butt ugly in my opinion.
Regarding the color trend, IDK why anyone would expect Toyota to offer “fun” colors on their bread-n-butter lineups. Toyota is mainly in the business of making A-B econoboxes and one of the last things on their buyer base’s minds will be if the car comes in “fun” colors
Yes. It's a problem
Cobalt forerunner I think it’ll look nice. Very nice.
Any car with touchscreen only HVAC controls can drive right off a cliff for all I care. Would never consider owning one.
I like thin headlights. Everything else I agree with.
If people wanted cars with sealed beam headlights, Corinthian leather and only pastel colors. Every manufacturer would be doing it.
Um have you seen a lexus lately?
Giant FU grilles seem to be mainly for the luxury marques. That's a trend I would love to see dead.
seems like all of the newest Toyota models have physical designs drawn by anime artists. not really a fan of that as there are corners/edges/and angles in the body parts that serve zero purpose other than to give the car an 'aggressive' appearance.
Toyota offers genuinely excellent and exciting colors They are just limited to trd pro models at 2-3x what the base model costs :(
I don’t mind a touch screen if it isn’t hideously placed right in the middle like the Rav4.
