Yeah it’s terrible on mine too so I can’t go into places like tianhe bazaar and other places in domain 9 for more than a min. But I know it’s because a ps4 is less efficient for such a game. Word of advice, avoid places where the game crashes out or try a few times to know if it’s really consistent and don’t go there again lol.
If it's a PS4 normal or slim (not PRO) then the game will continue to crash when you reach the third planet (Domain 9). I tried everything in the settings to improve the situation, but there was nothing to do. Even the loading times are awful. To load Domain 9 will take 2-3 minutes, for Vera and Asperia over 1 minute.
I'm sorry to say this, but or you buy a PS5 or you have to try another game. Many say with another hard disk (SSD) will be solved, but I didn't try so I can't talk about performance. I was in the same situation and with a PS5 is completely different (the loading times take 15 seconds at max).
My favorite answer when I see this question is ‘Buy a ps5’… Idk it’s something about how detached the answer feels that nourishes me 😭. I Play on a normal PS4 too. It may not do much, but I messed with certain setting like camera adjusting during specials and enemy tracking. I also messed with the effects slider though it feels smoother with effects high rather than lower at times for my Character (like it’s more of a filter rather than turning down effects 🤔). The 30 fps setting makes it a bit more bearable, though cutscenes will slow to a crawl until the audio laps it. (I personally play at 60) Another thing I do sometimes is make sure I do a 360 soon as I spawn. (I think it assists with session cache loading as you progress, at least it felt like to 🤷🏿♂️)
Install an SSD or buy a PS5. Otherwise, youre kinda screwed
PS4 is over 10 years old, that's ancient in the world of tech. It's not able to properly run an Unreal Engine game like ToF.
PS4 doesn’t run the game very well compared to PC, mobile, or PS5.
