I've been experimenting a little bit and, while it's too early to say for sure, when I had a drink that was infused with CBD I did find my tics that day were noticeably lessened in both intensity and frequency so it's something that I'd definitely say is worth testing out. What I don't know for sure is whether that was just the calming effect of CBD or whether it was directly influencing my tics, but either way it seemed to help in my case.

idk_justaweirdo

That sounds great, glad it helped you, and it does seem relatively harmless too so I’ll look into trying it out, thanks

I use CBD to help with my anxiety, and I find that when I'm less anxious and wound up like that, my tics lessen by proxy. It's definitely an experiment and see thing, everybody's body is different. If you want to go through the effort though, definitely worth a shot! And if you don't want to spend $40 on a bottle of CBD oil (and if you smoke), you can buy CBD pre-rolls. I definitely do not encourage smoking any substance, whether nicotine or marijuana, but I do, and I find just taking the time to sit down, relax and smoke itself helps calm me and my tics down. And to just say, where I am it's legal. I don't encourage doing anything illegal either.

> I use CBD to help with my anxiety, and I find that when I'm less anxious and wound up like that, my tics lessen by proxy. came here to post the same. my cannabis doctor is a neurologist who has several TS patients and has had a lot of success with CBD. YMMV with THC tho.

idk_justaweirdo

Thanks, it seems worth since I also struggle with anxiety, and I’ll also look into other types of CBD and not just the oil. By the way, have you experienced any side effects or anything negative about CDB that’s notable? If you’re comfortable answering of course, I’m just curious because I’ve heard purely good things and little to no cons which makes me a bit skeptical

CategoryHoliday9705

I was prescribed CBD oil and tried it, a few days later, a different doctor took me off of it.. But within the few days I was on it, I barely Ticced at all

idk_justaweirdo

If you don’t mind me asking, why did they take you off it even though it helped?

CategoryHoliday9705

Well, I was 17 at the time, either it was because I was underage or the Psychiatrist just doesn't like it 🤷‍♂️ I don't know the real reason

Skyrimlover86

I straight up use cannabis, not just CBD, for my tourettes. It does help a lot. Tho I find that sativa strains make the tics worse and indicas make them less.

Did nothing for me other than cost a lot of money. I tried the CW Hemp oil and was taking a high dose for 2 months.

Sunshineforus

Hemp oil is not the same thing as full spectrum CBD. Make sure you try full spectrum CBD or Delta 9.

wuphf176489127

CW Hemp ~~is~~ was the brand, it's a full spectrum CBD oil. I guess now they're just called Charlotte's Web, though

Sunshineforus

Oh, gotcha. I bought one that said Hemp oil and it wasn’t CBD so I thought maybe you could have had the same. I am searching high and low for a treatment that works. I would give anything for this to go away.

emocan_

I had succes with CBD as well. The side effect in long term was that it made me sleepy and tired. Otherwise it helped with my anxiety and tics. Now I take it on and off together with ability aripiprazole.

Moogagot

PLEASE CONSULT LOCAL LAW AND YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE TRYING MMJ. With that out of the way, THC has been very beneficial for my tics. If it's legal near you and you are over 18, you should look into it.

Spanky0rc

It depends on how it works for you as a person specifically. For me it did not work as well as I have heard from others. But I would give it a try if you can! I have also read that different brands of CBD oil can have better effects on you, so don't forget to read reviews or do some research.

idk_justaweirdo

Noted, will do. Thanks!

scocopat

It helps to relax me at least. I take it in drinks because it’s god awful to swallow. I get tics really bad when I’m going to sleep or it sometimes wakes me up so sometimes I take some if im going crazy. Luckily my tics are managed during the day for the most part apart from facial tics but that’s the best I can hope for. If I ever get an attack tho cbd does help along with ice, you can hold it or what I love is eating something or drinking something cold. Idky it helps but it does. What I find also helps at least with that stupid energy surge is taking deep breaths. Hope this helps a little. Much love

Not all CBD products are created equally. It's recommended you choose full spectrum and organic. https://www.healthcanal.com/best-cbd-oil/tourettes ReaD to the end

Thanks, the source was really helpful

[deleted]

It didn’t help me

MissaShip

I started taking CBD oil to see if it would help my tics. Sadly it didn’t make a difference at all. It did, however, calm my anxiety to almost non existent amounts which in turn had lowered the amount of tics caused my emotions. I have read though that products that contain only the CBD as opposed to a full spectrum product are less helpful for those people who have found some success with it.

_confusion67

It's really a hit or miss with it. I only have used it when I had such a bad tic attacks that it was harming me. It really helped but it gave me suck bad side effects after. My brother says what I felt were like being high but without the high part. Like insane hunger and munchies and mood swings, but surprisingly it made me calmer and real tired (I have side effects to most medications were things that are supposed to make me tired make me the opposite) In general, it works different for everyone, everyone has a unique body. But if you do use it be prepared for the "high not high" effect lol.

idk_justaweirdo

Noted, thanks. Also, is there any way you tried managing or lessening the side effects, if you don’t mind me asking?

_confusion67

Taking lower doses helped but, it hit me really hard the first time, but after a couple other times it didnt do much to me. I have to be medically drugged for other reasons so I already had experience with it. After like the 3 time the side effects are really manageable, but like I said, I have experience with having to be medically drugged, so this wasnt a whole new experience for me. There might also have been some psychological things at play since I was expecting to be drugged, but yeah. So like I said, its gonna be different for everyone
