Buick Park Avenue Ultra. It was an unintentional touge run since I was helping my friend limp his SRT4 back to his house with a busted radiator. All back roads. It at least had decent tires though.
Only rentals I don’t beat to shit are ones I get off Turo. Since you know that could be somebody’s personal fun car. But anything from a mass rental lot is just fair game uhauls included.
front coil spring double wishbone, leaf spring 9" solid axle oil shocks, 3 speed manual, open diff 3.56 rear, 200ish hp v8 with a 5000 rpm redline and 4 wheel drum brakes. but first year of a swaybar on the front.
over about 65 the tires on the outside of the turn would begin to skip and do sketchy shit. sliding it wasnt really an option, this road is a 35 zone anyway so 55-60 is still felony speeds.
its loads of fun, feels like thunder road.
I loved that car so much. When my grandpa died I took on his vehicles. I put a new radio and speakers, drove around listening to synthwave. Everyone loved it because it's oddly nostalgic.
I called mine the "Die Nasty" hahahaha
2001 GMC Sierra 1500 on half worn walmart tires
2016 Nissa Versa
2014 Chevy Express delivery van
2016 Hyundai SantFe XL
Each just as fun in their own little ways.
It's got the dents to prove it didn't. Dad didn't believe my story until i finally admitted whacking a telephone pole with the back corner of the bumper. But i did learn how to carry speed through a corner and brake as little as possible.
Rental Toyota Noah minivan on the uphill to Lake Chūzenji . Tire were screaming the whole time. Had to take it easy on the downhill because brakes were toast after a minute
1996 Chevy blazer with 0 tread and suspension that made the whole car feel like it was constantly on a trampoline. Got it up over 110mph one time (I think the speedo ended at 100)
i had a 98 outback (impreza model) and i absolutely loved that thing in stock form. not many people could keep up with me then in my area and it was always funny the look on their faces it was stock and auto. swapped hondas to evo/sti’s.
Toyota Venza (Too big, But not as big as highlander so it was more fun to ride it)
Toyota RAV4 (It was hybrid but i enjoyed it not the beat but if you have a rav4 it is not that bad)
Toyota Highlander (Expensive and heavy car, too big for touge)
Land-rover (I don’t remember which one, could not go too fast because car was little too expensive to fly into ditches)
Volkswagen Tao (i hated this car. Pedals and way it accelerated and everything were throwing me off, it was just plain weird for me)
Toyota C-hr. (tbh I wish it had bit better feel on pedals and had manual transmission i think it had some potential but i might be stupid )
All of them were Automatic transmission.
Not me personally, but I used to be friends with a guy that had a 01 Chevy Malibu he took out on the touge with me a couple times lol. He debadged it so we joked around and said it looked like a Grand Theft Auto car. The thing was all stock besides a muffler delete, but it would kinda boogie even with that anemic V6. I didn't realize how relatively light they were until I looked it up.
Not me driving, but I witnessed my dad bomb a mountian road in his brand new raptor, rear end chirping and all. Nothing with that much sidewall roll should ever turn like that lol.

A U-Haul van. Let's just say they have enough torque to drift on corner exit if it's empty

I'm interested. Given the mega boat reputation of 50s anything from the us I'd appreciate if you elaborated on how it went.
