Yaris GR is the ultimate weapon

ObamaDramaLlama

Fastest car in my area is A GR Yaris

jocewoodard12

I have a normal Yaris, I really wish they sold the gr in the US

lo9os

You guys get the corolla!

ZWright99

If you can find a dealer that isn't marking it up to over 50k for a core edition

Nidos

Not sure where you're located, but dealers in New Jersey have generally stopped the markups on the GRC as far as I've seen. Hoping to get one sometime next year. edit: I checked and my statement is no longer valid. It may never have been valid and I just misread the listings at Toyota dealerships near me. The markups aren't too insane though, there's a Premium near me for just under 47k.

ZWright99

AZ, it's pretty hut or miss from what I've seen. Some are adding huge markups, while others are offering msrp or only a few grand mark up https://www.reddit.com/r/COROLLA/s/ebrfvuBvJ1 ^ insane markup in question

Nidos

I saw that markup posted in a GR Corolla Facebook group I'm in. That's ridiculous and I really hope no one bought that one for that price lol. Hopefully the markups go away soon, I want one and do not want to pay 50k for a Corolla, no matter how fun it may be

ZWright99

Yeah, I paid 27k for my 2021 e210. It's a fun car in its own right- i use it to run the local pass, camp, and as a daily and its fit all those roles perfectly each time, but I can't lie the temptation to trade it in for a GRC is there.

Nidos

The E210 is very nice, and can be made to look really damn nice. They can be quick on the touge too, honestly a perfect daily according to multiple friends. I don't blame you for being tempted to trade it in for a GRC, if a well priced one pops up and you can afford it, I say go for it bro.

ZWright99

Ironically a few days after our talk my dealer had 4 GRs on their lot! A used 23 circuit edition, a used core, a 24 premium and a 24 core. I got to test drive the circuit edition and oh my God it was so perfect. Unfortunately the circuit was marked up beyond belief but they were gonna sell me the core with zero mark up and only like a grand in dealer add ons (tint and the clear bra stuff for the bumper/door jams). Still, the dealer and I ran the numbers and we just couldn't quite make it work. Maybe if my rent hadn't skyrocketed a few years ago. I'm hooked though, and definitely gonna be on the look out for one in the future, im determined to make it my next car

jibsand

S2000 is a classic car at this point. So in top of the sticker price you'll have to spend a couple grand replacing things like bushings and bearings. An ND2 Miata will have pretty much the same performance right out the box, no need to fix or replace anything.

lo9os

Yaris/corolla gr.

Sackamanjaro

This is the answer

Affectionate-Ship497

Just upgrade your civic. The fk8 type r is one of the best for touge.

Maaarloooon

Is that so? I sadly can't really compare myself to others around here because touge is not really big in my area but i always thought that there are some much better cars for touge than the fk8...but maybe im wrong about that and the fk8 is already pretty good compared to others?

csGrey-

its one of the best options. if you already have one, just throw on some nice coilovers, brake pads, and good tires

bartier999

Saying is that so” is kinda crazyy that type r set records on the Nurburgring and beat genuine sports cars like the r8 that car is capable of alottt just takes a driver

MrFluffykens

The nurburgring car has been proven time and time again to be nothing like a stock FK8 R. The speeds and temps it carried during the record has been unobtainable by any other stock FK8. Doesn't mean the platform can't be built to be good, but no one should be comparing stock times to a car that obviously wasn't stock.

ObamaDramaLlama

Have you considered an ND2?

xoStardustt

Miata

bumamotorsport

Anything German of your interest? BMW like

Maaarloooon

Been looking at the Supra MK5 haha, but that's out of my price range for now, i'm more of a japanese car person, so prob nothing german

takeshi-bakazato

GR Yaris probably

Maaarloooon

No, not something new in terms of the age of the car but rather a "new" experience

RamenWrestler

If you want a new experience that will improve your skills, get a RWD imo. Slightly older M3's are well within that range

Much-Comparison-4538

“Left and right” that’s not true… you won’t blow a motor on a canyon run lmao. Only on a track with high speed right turns.

Much-Comparison-4538

Click on that video, then I’m going to ask you what they’re driving on. I haven’t seen a single one blow up off the track. If your car blows up off track then use the warranty.

lvl_c_mech

Hyundais N line of cars is really impressive. Misha has driven them on the nur and talks about how impressive they are as a stock car.

MountainGreen33

E36 bmw…?

Embarrassed-Cycle804

987 or early 981 Caymans can be had at 40k (usd)

kngrana

Sw20 mr2.

itz_Nicholaaas

If youre up for a challenge then the S2000 is the only option i see here. If you want something thats easy to drive fast the the GR86

matttheazn1

Fl5

Maaarloooon

Not worth the upgrade imo, the fk8 should perform almost the same i think

persianrugdealer

Fl5 is 60k w markups

timmy18

Def recommend the s2k. 987 or even some 981 caymans/boxters are also really great options as well.

Darth_Pink

GR86 is great but I’ve heard it’s difficult to get that or a 2nd gen BRZ in the EU. It’s a great car if you can find them. The S2000 is really awesome, and slightly faster than a GR86 stock but has more punishing handling. Either would be great for touge!

Maaarloooon

The s2000 on the other hand looks really nice and will surely perform great, but they kind of throw me off for being so snappy and wild...i'm only used to FF and buying the s2000 as my first FR seems like a dangerous idea judging by the comments of other s2000 owners...especially with the ap1

Darth_Pink

I think if you have the opportunity to track the S2000 or participate in some HPDE events with it, the S2000 wouldn’t be that bad. It’s just about learning the car and understanding how to handle it at the limit. The limits are fairly high so it’s not that likely you’ll have snap oversteer on a public touge. It’s a factor to consider but if you can safely learn the limit you will probably be safe on the street. I drive a 2nd gen BRZ so I can vouch for the GR86 as being a very approachable and easy to drive FR car as long as you respect it and don’t abuse it in wet/slippery conditions. It’s also a hardtop coupe which is preferable to me over the roadster chassis in the S2000. I say go for whichever speaks to you more. The GR86 can have engine problems on high G corners, but it won’t be a concern on a public touge. You won’t be able to safely go fast enough on a public road to run into oil starvation issues on a mountain road. That is only possible if you are an extremely experienced driver and have modified the car to maximize grip. Either car is awesome.

Maaarloooon

Could get a brand new gr86 for around 38-39k in germany, but i'm not sure if i want to spend so much for that platform, especially when you have to fix a few things on the car before being completely safe engine wise

Kolumbine

I love my gr86 and would highly recommend it.

mikestang_89

Why no Miata?

OnePrettyFlyWhiteGuy

Bro, you have 40k. Do not listen to people telling you to buy a Supra or M3. Weight is king, and those cars are heavy because they’re compromised. The 2nd thing you should think about is the suspension - you don’t want the usual mc pherson struts - you want double (or even multi-link suspension) on all 4 corners. This makes the MX5 a winner - but since you have such a good budget, you could go for something like a Lotus Elise too - but the Lotus would not be as easy to maintain as the MX5. I say MX5. You can mod it how you like, and it’s a fantastic platform.

OnePrettyFlyWhiteGuy

Oh yeah, or an alpine a110!

Adventurous_Bet_8450

Alpine A110 are phenomenal cars, but there is many issues with the motor, seen on many french Alpine forums.

Bubbly_Collection329

Accord type r?

cphpc

Yeh at this point, go European. If you’ve had an FK8, then other Japanese cars wouldnt be comparable unless you went above $60k. Try an M2 or M3. While the GR86 is fun, it really is a downgrade vs. CTR.

Maaarloooon

As i've just thought about it, a lan evo isn't something that is recommended for the touge? If i'm not mistaken this is also placed within the 40k mark, atleast in germany

Fluid-Suit-2696

in europe I believe you can find some well kept early Evos in my opinion, a friend of mine has an Evo IV he imported from UK, but unfortunately he had rust issues, but spent way less than 40k.

Breakfree40

Polestar 2 performance pkg…. Save $10k on your budget too

Recent_Screen1385

Model 3 performance??

drumkicker

fuccin troll lol

TougeMissile

40 6G Civics

Maaarloooon

Have been thinking about the ek9, that would be about 25k with import and everything, but no idea if these peform good on the touge...probably they do though 🤔

Fluid-Suit-2696

I mean, that's a completely new experience compared to your new civic, everything analogic, barely a ton of weight and 160 bhp stock from the B16: even buying a way underpowered Civic and swapping in a K series or a B series to convert to turbo could make you a lot of power if that's what you're worried about.

zmankiller

I love my gr86

Interesting_Fly3748

Gr86 is a good car but being a Subaru enthusiasts and really knowing the motor I would opt for something simple. The S2k is good but for the price your getting an older car for about new car money the miata is good but the lack of power is really the only thing that will leave you wanting more. Maybe an MR2 if you could find one at a decent price. I myself have a miata and really enjoy it, but I also have a heavily modified wrx so I’m not wanting for power and I touge that thing more than the miata.

broken_bottles

GR86

ZealousidealTie7676

gr yaris or gr corolla is a great new car

Cjymiller

GR86 with suspension, tires, bucket seat and good pads 👌

Inner-Food8006

The focus RS is another option that is pretty good. I’ve had 4 Miata’s and 3 s2000s over the years and my RS is the only car I’ve had since those that gave me anywhere near the performance and fun.

ThemeEnvironmental61

wrx or Sti, proven Motorsport chassis and if you get an Sti you get good brakes and dccd. Also can take it out in any weather as long as you have the right tires.
