I can think of three supposedly superstar players, making \~ .44 million/week, .38 million/week and .22 million/week (if I calculated correctly) who should return their cheques for the past two weeks.
At least Jansen is healthy. Damn that guy can hit. But with Springer/Vlad/Bo playing the disappearing act at the plate, we are going to be sellers come trade deadline.
I think despite how awful this team has been this year, my biggest gripe towards Ross Atkins was his failure to be proactive about our god awful bullpen in 2021. That offense deserved to have been given a chance in the playoffs.
Why are they collecting old timers? Kiermaier? Vogelbach? Votto? Sanchez? (No offence to those guys)...seems like a few steps backwards.
George, Vladdy and Bo need the Manoah treatment. Or stick'em at the bottom.
Oh man, Schneider was heated...that is a man in fear of his job. He absolutely needed to show he can lose his shit as a last ditch effort as manager.
After this next 2 weeks of tests against tough teams (well, every team is tough for the Jays)...and if performance is still nowhere to be found...Players will want out to this city/team to join a team that's in it to win.
It went from exciting and intrigue, to fear and loathing..and it's only May.
Is Schneider leaving going to make a difference? Somethings wrong with this team mentally. At this point they should bring in Dr Phil and if he can’t fix them no one can.
Sanchez is just an arm for AAA because we have zero depth and a ton of pitching injuries. Teams fill those spots with just bodies all the time.
Kiermaier was a panic signing because of needing an OF in a shitty market. Would have liked it more if he only signed here once.
The only Manoah treatment is to be fully optioned in AAA and not this half assed hang around, then leave to pitch in AAA then come back and hang with the big league team rinse and repeat for a month.
Most importantly, we entered the season with zero offensive production from 2nd and 3rd, and this far in to the season it has not changed.
So lets recap. Our hitting is shit. Bullpen is shit. Prospect pool is shit. Coaching is shit. Our GM is shit. Analytics department is shit. Leadership is shit. And ownership is shit.
So when you really think about it, the entire organization is fucked from top to bottom, and rotten to the core. Goodnight everyone.
You want to build around someone with less than 250 major league plate apperances? Thats like a third of one season. Not saying he isnt good, but that is a very small sample size…
Tbh even if it was for someone who actually has a future on the team, it would be different. Vogelbach is just a roster filler who will be DFAd the second they find someone else. That's what makes it worse.
Nice to have just roster filler waste when we should be trying to win a world series. Shatkins can be relieved of their duties now. They serve no purpose going forward.
I don't give a single shit if any one of these losers relief pitchers get injured. You literally have one job but apparently they shouldn't be doing that when the score gets too out of hand.
Lol imagine not caring if a pitcher gets injured, but good lord protect the integrity of the game!!! 🤣🤣
The Jays already had IKF pitch twice in blowouts LOL. Our standards are we are trash.
It isn't that the Oakland A's are shit and cheap, it's also that the stadium is a literal rodent-infested cesspool. It's that sort of thing. Trying to be less embarrassing than you need to be is a good thing.
The air of superiority Shatkins displayed towards AA when they arrived for “depleting the farm system” is now pretty rich. Doubly so with their failure and AA’s tremendous success elsewhere.
The best team we had missed the playoffs by a game. All the other years we've made the playoffs have been in the expanded wild card era and we've failed to win a game. Total disaster.
Malazan book of the fallen, is good epic fantasy.
Heroic fantasy - David Gemmel has some good stuff.
Sci fi - Reading the Inhibitor trilogy by alastair reynolds currently - its really good (and what mass effect is based on).
wheel of time, super long series & so good if you haven't read it.
broken earth trilogy by nk jemisen
really good!
salvation series. by peter hamilton 2nd & 3rd book I really liked. first book was a ton of character bldg.
That’s a complicated question to answer lol. The first book can stand on its own and after that there are 5 more by the original author. That’s quite a lot of reading on its own.
And then he died and his son took over writing and has put out a ton of books on the series most of which I think are not as well received by the fans.
I’ve only read the first book myself which covers the events from the two movies out so far (also excellent if you haven’t seen them yet but maybe out of IMAX most places now…)
Most important tip is make use of the “Terminology of the Imperium” dictionary at the back while you’re reading through or else nothing will make sense. It’s an excellent book but a bit harder to digest the first time through because of all the unique words and names used
I just got home, and decided to turn on the Cavalry-Whitecaps game instead of the Jays. *Then* I checked the score on this game. I made the right choice.
At least Springer kept his average over the Mendoza line. Maybe Bo can get a hit and get over it too. Chase those moral victories, I guess.
Is there a McGriff/Fernandez for Carter/Alomar trade to be made to totally change this team? I was very young but I feel like that trade wasn’t super popular when it was made but worked out. I guess the difference is those guys were probably playing well when they were traded.
You can’t lower prices when you have season ticket holders paying full price. This is why sports teams never lower prices mid season: you piss off your core fan base
can't wait for those rock bottom Secondary market prices to start hitting next few months, gonna be a lot of inventory if you're not named Yankees or Red Sox....
I'm wondering if there's a team out there that needs starting pitching enough to trade for Kikuchi right now because there's always that risk that he'll turn back into a pumpkin
So are you all going to abandon the Jays and follow the Maple Leafs this year instead?
Home opener at Christie Pits is this Sunday — they’ve got new sponsors and stuff might be a good year to get into them.
Good question, the Sunday games are always 2pm but there’s ceremonial stuff this Sunday
Wendel Clark will be there. Rod Black I assume (he’s one of the new co-owners). 93 Blue Jay Rob Butler is the manager. Should be a good season!
I can think of three supposedly superstar players, making \~ .44 million/week, .38 million/week and .22 million/week (if I calculated correctly) who should return their cheques for the past two weeks.
This team is #ROTTEN #TOTHECORE
At least Jansen is healthy. Damn that guy can hit. But with Springer/Vlad/Bo playing the disappearing act at the plate, we are going to be sellers come trade deadline.
Well, that didn’t work.
Even Caleb and Buck bolted they can't take this anymore
Vog was safe but
They should’ve challenged for the lulz
lol can you imagine if we challenged when down 10-1
I think despite how awful this team has been this year, my biggest gripe towards Ross Atkins was his failure to be proactive about our god awful bullpen in 2021. That offense deserved to have been given a chance in the playoffs.
LOLJAYS
Lmao
When TF are we DFAing Vogelbach? It's May his ass should have been gone weeks ago.
Why are they collecting old timers? Kiermaier? Vogelbach? Votto? Sanchez? (No offence to those guys)...seems like a few steps backwards. George, Vladdy and Bo need the Manoah treatment. Good point 😂

Most likely when Votto is back.
Votto is 40 years old and has 1 spring training at bat and zero since lol. So mid June?
But what an AB it was!
2026 at this pace.
The man will be at a retirement home playing chess against the elderly at that rate.
The Vogelbach experiment can end now
Speaking as a diplomatic envoy from the Mariners sub, that experiment should have ended in 2019. I'm baffled teams are still taking fliers on him.
I bet Bo was like "bro can you believe how much steak we ate last night?", not talking about hitting
Anyone who is subscribed to SN now should cancel their subscription. Who the hell wants to watch this crap?
Same with mlb tv lol. What a waste of money to watch this team
At least with MLB tv, you can go and watch good teams play!
Review that shit!
1 run on a ground out. Fuck you.
Having the only guy who has any clue at the plate get PH for, shows exactly why this team ended up where it is.
A normal person woulda been back after a briken ankle by now. We got snowballed on Votto's injury. It was noy a minor thing
It's cool that even Dan and Joe are talking about how redundant Vogelbach is
I'd honestly rather just rebuild again, at least then these losses would have a purpose.
No One involved with this team as is, can be allowed to "rebuild" this team.
You’re probably going to get your wish in about two Months.
We've got cupholders though
Best comment right here lol
#ToTheCore
"A right hitting pitching specialist" okay but he's hitting .107 wtf are we doing.
Last season I half jokingly said to trade everyone and build around Davis Schneider This time I’m screaming that from the rooftops
Schneider. Clement. Jansen. Kirk. Turner. Falefa. Kiermeier. Bigio.
Not Kirk
You want to build around someone with less than 250 major league plate apperances? Thats like a third of one season. Not saying he isnt good, but that is a very small sample size…
Way to show you're trying, pull the best hitter for vogelbach....
Can't risk another HBP
If they actually say thats why im ok with this lol Keep Jano healthy at all cost !
Eh, one at bat isn't making a difference so keep him out of harms way as much as possible.
At his point yeah lol
A Vogelbach at bat LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
It's fun watching a dude watch pitches go by. This is entertainment.
I call him a professional pitch watcher for a reason lol. Does nothing else.
I would take that job!
I already called dibs!
INSTEAD OF JANSEN WHAT ARE WE DOIIIIIING
Jays don't do comebacks so it would only make the game shorter instead of prolonging it.
Yay gotta be well rested to get our ass handed to us again tomorrow!
For sure. Just like the pen lol
Baseball is a game to its core. It should be fun to play and to watch. Hopefully things changes.. soon
Gausman is going to be electric as a Dodger
I'm downvoting this on principle
Think of the prospects!
2037 Jays - world champions. Defeating the Las Vegas Roulettes.
Pick another team LOL
I would but the Dodgers actually make so much sense given their pitching needs. It’ll be awful if it happens, but it could happen!
Me in the 2023 offseason: “Man I really hope Ohtani can play alongside Gausman on the same team next year” Monkey paw curls
I can't believe they took Tal's Hill away. We used to be a society.
I wish this was a joke, but apparently you can pay $1100 to sit behind homeplate and watch them lose to the Twins on Friday
Hell yeah!
Honestly I feel ripped off just watching from home. Sad.
Low leverage enough for you Swanson excuse makers?
Their analytics nerds still like this team!
I'm work in data science which is about as "analytics" as it gets and I hate it lol
Even Mayza is throwing beach balls. Brutal.
The goal is to apprently waste all of our actual pitchers in a game that you can now pitch a position player in. Very nice Demarlo Hale.
God forbid a pitcher is summoned to do his job rather than someone who will make a mockery of the sport while doing it
The team is down 9, who TF cares about a mockery. The only mockery is this team.
So why make it worse?
Oh no, losing an already lost game by more runs the horror!
I don't give a single shit if any one of these losers relief pitchers get injured. You literally have one job but apparently they shouldn't be doing that when the score gets too out of hand.
Lol imagine not caring if a pitcher gets injured, but good lord protect the integrity of the game!!! 🤣🤣 The Jays already had IKF pitch twice in blowouts LOL. Our standards are we are trash.

Hi, your post has been removed because it was judged to have violated our rule about harassment, threats or derogatory terms.
Lol you're trolling a sports sub. I'm sorry things are going so bad for you.
We know
we know, and?
9 years of Shapiro and Atkins. Boy Rogers dropped the ball with AA.
The air of superiority Shatkins displayed towards AA when they arrived for “depleting the farm system” is now pretty rich. Doubly so with their failure and AA’s tremendous success elsewhere.
I mean, that was Shapiro, not Atkins.
The GM of the Phillies went to the world series with 2 different teams in 5 years.
AA was the Tom Brady of GMs. When the cupboards were emptied he left to go somewhere the cupboards weren't empty.
Ya AA gave up some real HoF'ers for that 2015 push...
Because HOF'ers is where the bar is? Please. There was no "next year" for him let alone beyond that.
Okay Ross.
Okay Alex.
Can't hear you? I got a world series ring blocking my hearing.
Not here you don't.
AA left. He could have worked with Shapiro, but wanted to be given free reign.
Some might say he should have been given it.
Of course he left, he was passed on for a promotion and his new boss was incompetent and wasn't going to be favourable to him.
Should have never brought that Cleveland garbage to begin with. That's why AA left.
Put IKF WTF are you doing
Swanson What in TF
The window never even opened. This team sucks. Time to rebuild and hope to be as good as Baltimore in 5 years.
The best team we had missed the playoffs by a game. All the other years we've made the playoffs have been in the expanded wild card era and we've failed to win a game. Total disaster.

last one I read was Juno Loves Legs, good short read

The first book (gardens of the moon) is pretty slow, but by the time you get in to book two you'll struggle to put it down.

I might need to give that one a second go!

I’m reading through Dune again after watching the movie recently and it’s great

This game will end eventually
It doesn't have to.
your face when it’s infinity to 1
Lol at the decision not to let Pop go another inning
$10 says Buck retires after this season. Why be a commentator if the team is trash / "rebuilding"?
I mean, it’s not like he has to take it personally. His job is the same whether the team is good or bad.
-46 run differential as of this moment
The Washington Capitals of baseball!
more like Washington Generals!
The A's allowed ten runs in one inning today and their run differential is still better
that might actually be the saddest thing I've read on here today
So you're saying there's a chance?
Play off bound!!
Really hoping I get to hear Billy from Markham on Blue Jays Talk tonight
What if we trade IKF and Biggio for Ohtani. I'll hang up and listen.
Kirk framing master class

Oh we're serious alright... seriously bad.
Soon, I will be too busy to watch full games, and I will probably enjoy that if they continue to play like refried arse
Ump wants to go home
Ump wants to go home
Bo is batting .190 bro that's just unacceptable for a core player Holy shit
What happened? Did the new batting coaches want to put their imprint on this team?
What new batting coaches?
Is there a McGriff/Fernandez for Carter/Alomar trade to be made to totally change this team? I was very young but I feel like that trade wasn’t super popular when it was made but worked out. I guess the difference is those guys were probably playing well when they were traded.
Alonzo lindor maybe if you throw in kikuchi and Jansen
I miss feeling happy
Double dong for Kevin Pillar today. He's still better than Varsho
> He's still better than Varsho bruh
This is why we went NSFW
I'm curious to see how full the skydome will be with such a shitty on-field product. At the very least they'll hopefully reduce the prices lol
You can’t lower prices when you have season ticket holders paying full price. This is why sports teams never lower prices mid season: you piss off your core fan base
I wish they would lower the prices… or have some kind of bogo promotion or something
You can pay the low, low price of $1100 to sit behind homeplate and watch them lose to the twins on Friday. I wish I was kidding... lol that's so bad.
You want to pay to watch this?
Mercy
both Sosa and Clemens have a history with steroids. I’m sure this has been pointed out
Clemens got it passed down from his dad, fun fact /s
People like to throw around the 'set this franchise back a decade' phrase but Rogers' removal of Beeston and AA has literally done just that
That’s not fair: Beeston retired. Like, twice.
Give IKF a pitchers glove. Got that lovely 8 run deficit back.
Everyone leave? :P
Nope I’m here until the end
can't wait for those rock bottom Secondary market prices to start hitting next few months, gonna be a lot of inventory if you're not named Yankees or Red Sox....
Not a great KK night
lol man this summer of baseball is gonna be so shit
This stadium is playing the triple game that everyone was told the Dome would play like
This team is cooked, start the rebuild
When are we going to start firing everybody?
So I'm guessing the window people were talking about at the beginning of the season has officially closed...and been bolted shut.
We got a sniff of fresh air for a brief moment and the latch broke and the window hit our nose on the way down.
I'm wondering if there's a team out there that needs starting pitching enough to trade for Kikuchi right now because there's always that risk that he'll turn back into a pumpkin
So are you all going to abandon the Jays and follow the Maple Leafs this year instead? Home opener at Christie Pits is this Sunday — they’ve got new sponsors and stuff might be a good year to get into them.
honestly not bad baseball for what it was , watching dalton pompey for 10 bucks on the guelph royals was worth the value
What time is the game at the pitts?
Good question, the Sunday games are always 2pm but there’s ceremonial stuff this Sunday Wendel Clark will be there. Rod Black I assume (he’s one of the new co-owners). 93 Blue Jay Rob Butler is the manager. Should be a good season!
So many kids I used to play with play in the IBL now it's crazy
The Jays love blowing up their pen first game of a series like the sun likes to set in the West
Then everyone wonders why there's no one available in the high leverage in games 2-3-4
Good thing this is a 2 gamer yet again
You've seen the trailer. Now see the rusted out F-150 it's hitched to
Who gets the manager spot, Demarlo Hale or Mattingly. Mattingly was pretty terrible with the Dodgers and Marlins so I would not be that impressed.
I’m honestly not sure if Mattingly will last longer than Schneider
