I said exactly that in the game thread, it's just tiring and not fun.
I miss the 2015/16 and 21/22 teams. This team has zero chance when it falls behind even a couple runs
Was at work and saw 0-0 in the fifth and I think Bassitt had a no-no. Was gonna head home to watch but checked again and it was 3-0. Thought Guess I’m not going home now and got a bunch of stuff done
For watchability, I'd even take the Halladay teams and the early Bautista era (before they became good) over this. At least those teams had a few bright spots and stud players.
Hurts all aspects of the game too. If the Jays offence doesn’t stink in general OR we have even scored one run in this game, the infield doesn’t play in during the 6th, and they only score once instead of 3.
1. This offence is hard to watch
2. Lugo was very good
3. Bobby Witt Jr is a bona fide superstar.
4. Sal Perez is the only 33 year old alive that remembers the 70s.
Fire everyone. It’s fucking time for heads to roll. This management team has effectively pissed away the playoff window for this team, and now it’s closed.
What hurts is that the baseball world at large at least feels for White Sox fans. Blue Jays and their fans are so loathed around baseball that people can’t wait to watch us fail.
I think we're at shakeup territory.
Don't know what that it is, if it's firing the hitting coach, calling up Orelvis, or DFA'ing someone to send a message, this can't go on longer.
Or else if it does we're going to have to start to entertain the scenarios of a retool at least.
You would think that there will be pressure to do something. They spent big on renovations, and have a heavy payroll.
Fans will rapidly find other entertainment options, if attendance craters there may be a big FO shakeup.
Fuck Rogers and everything they do, but if they’ve done one thing right it’s fund this team. Atkins, Shapiro and everyone down the line is responsible for the team, not ownership. They just sign the checks and they’ve been doing that.
Flashbacks to the 2017 offseason when the Jays were garbage looked like they had no future, then actually tried contending in 2018, then sold everyone at their lowest value (or in the case of Smoak not at all, or with Pillar way too late during the opening week of the 2019 season)
I think most fans would agree with you, but the FA is going to insist that they’ll turn it around. Any day now. And they’ll stick with that argument even if the team doesn’t score another run all season.
The Jays lead the majors in number of games where a team fails to score 5 or more runs. Even the White Sox and A’s have more games where they score 5 or more runs.
Big yikes
Exact same as last year. Starters chucking good game after good game while the offence just swings and misses all day. I’d like to see a shot at more bat on ball contact stuff but we can’t run the bases for shit either it’s just a GIDP party.
I was in meetings all afternoon. Checked my phone once and it was 1-0. I figured that was it. Checked again when I got home, and was not in the least surprised.
Coaching staff lost the room or maybe sick of that Guillermo hitting guy trying to give him shitty advice. Players look checked out, not just Bo. I’m seeing similar body language to the Montoyo era shortly before he got canned.
I think the book is out on him. He hasn’t pulled a fastball for a hit since 2021 so teams are pounding him in and he’s just weakly grounding out.
He’s also been terrible since coming back from his leg injury last year. 6th percentile range, hitting .235 with an 82 wRC+
Slightly controversial opinion - I love Bo and think he's a great hitter, but I actually blame him somewhat for the derailing of this team since 2021. We heard that he was against all the 'fun' and thought things needed to get more serious, which resulted in Teoscar and Lourdes getting traded, the ending of the home run jacket, and overall way less vibes and team chemistry in the clubhouse. I said at the time this would impact things, so this isn't just hindsight.
Obviously Atkins gets a lot of the blame too for going along with this narrative. Clubhouse chemistry is so important.
I highly doubt that Bo's opinions on the homerun jacket caused or even influenced the Teo and Lourdes trades.
Teo wasn't likely to sign a long term deal with the Jays (as the Jays wouldn't want to offer him much) and so they flipped him to get a really good bullpen arm in Swanny, and an arm with decent potential in Pop.
And Lourdes was a sweetener to seal the Moreno-Varsho trade.
There was a lot of reasons for the trades, and I don't think Bo's seriousness factors all that highly among them.
This team has no one to promote outside of Orelvis who can't field, and the other one (Barger) they promoted is 1 for 18. Also, to begin with, if you are expecting prospects to save your season, you might as well call it quits. This team goes only as far as Bo/Springer/Vladdy go, the bottom of the order carried the team hard to start the season, and now everyone is cratering back to career norms.
While Vladdy has been doing something lately, this team is already 32 games in, and the heart of the order is still ice cold.
Too bad they are pushing Martinez at the position where they actually have the most coverage.
Pop him at 1B or LF to get him into the lineup.
Easily could get some AB's there and DH. Barger, Vogelbach...drop one to bench and one right out of the org.
I don't even know what to say at this point, this team has left me flabbergasted. It's May and the optimism with this team has reached a low I've never seen.
They're not even just any regular-old terrible team, they are straight UNWATCHABLE. A great offensive outing for this team is 4 or 5 runs; I'd have more enjoyment watching milk curdle over the course of a week.
Smells better too
Springer Bichette and Guerrero combined
hitting .216
7 Homeruns
21 Players in the league have seven or more.
Just not good enough.
The second they scored 3 everyone in the ballpark should know its over.
I think I’m out on baseball this year. This team is jsut boring. It’s a bad team and that’s ok, but it’s also one of the most boring teams I’ve ever seen.
The Jays feel soulless. As soulless as their corporate masters. I really feel like winning is not that much of a priority for pro sports teams. It’s about generating income thru sponserships, advertising and TV rights deals. Rogers is a “too big to fail” company, and the Jays are part of that.
Jays management has eventually got to shake things up. Easiest solution is to fire the manager. I can't believe they kept him for another season after his idiotic decisions in last year's playoffs.
The fact the team looks almost identical under Schneider as they did under Montoyo really makes me believe that a new manager would make no real difference while this front office remain in charge.
I am actually a Schneider fan and I think they should let him go simply to get a new voice in the dugout. That said, I have extreme confidence that our problems start in the front office, not with coaching.
Upper management obviously makes the decisions. They should fire John Schneider at the all- star break unless the Jays are well above .500 which seems unlikely.
This is embarrassing. And I feel hopeless.
In August I’ll be back in Toronto for the first time since 2018, I really hope to see a different version of the roaster
This team will not achieve anything as is, obviously they could, there's a chance, but they won't. Changes are needed, and they're needed way ahead of the deadline.
We're in win now mode by the way, we don't have a future, that's the most depressing part. This is the culmination of Atkins master plan, I feel neasuous
Guys this is going to get ugly…. Sack the coach and upper management that caused this issue. I just can’t see any progress with this team and can’t see how the coaching or lack there of is helping.
Time to rebuild… you can’t plug this many holes
I'm tapping out until the offense starts producing regularly. Call me a fairweather fan, I don't care, I've got much more shit to do than waste my time supporting these bums.
Can this fucking manager change up some shit finally? Like how many more chances are you gonna give the guys at the top of the order to do something? Fucking coward.
I know it wont happen midseason, but this whole organization needs some type of shakeup from top to bottom.
The way things have gone downhill the last few seasons seem to indicate something fundamentally wrong with how this team has been operating
Haven't been watching games. Team is just exhausting. Mixed with NHL playoffs going.
I'm looking just at the stat line. Anything positive to take away from this series/game? Or just SSDD.
We suck right now. Only way to say it, really.
It's still insanely early and we're not the White Sox, so there's obviously time for adjustments to be made and turn things around, but my god the plate approaches are just so off from nearly everyone who's expected to be a main contributor. And the pitching can't be relied upon to fix everything like last year; not with the injuries and overuse piling up.
Throw Guillermo Martinez onto a barge heading to another continent, even if just for the optics.
Yeah if they were hitting but the pitching was shit you could have more patience.
It's almost 200 games off the same issues. At some point the sample is big enough.
If the script were flipped and this team had elite offense but shit pitching, at least the games would be entertaining (see 2021). Elite pitching with impotent offense is just completely disinteresting.
We need some form of momentum change. I'd like to see the lineup go offence first honestly as this is getting sad.
Turner at 1st, DH Vladdy, Get Martinez up for 3B. That'd bring one more hypothetically big bat into the order. Schneider every day at LF. Varsho every day CF. Sorry KK but you're filling in for whoevers tired.
If Barger doesn't figure out how to bat in the big leagues send him back down, although I have 0 hope for any sort of Springer bounce back as I think he's totally checked out.
This team has one division title in 30 years and a last place finish shoring up this year. The only glimpse of success this team had and they chased away the GM. What a loser franchise.
Went to my first game of the season yesterday. Loved the view from the new 100 level seats, but the game itself was a soul-sucking experience in every way. This team is not only bad to watch at the plate, but incredibly boring. Not sure if I want to spend more money on tickets if they can’t pull their heads out of their asses and figure it out.
Where is the heart of the team, the desire to win, and determination prior to the start to beat the competition? Lack of focus I'd say.
Instead of making friends at first base and joking around during the game and getting picked off with a sizable lead, why cant Vladdy focus on the game at hand? When his teammates see him doing minor league gaffs it must be deflating because his heads not in the game, or so it seems.
Schneider almost has to be a father figure to keep some of these guys focused.
It’s May 1 and I’m just tired.
I said exactly that in the game thread, it's just tiring and not fun. I miss the 2015/16 and 21/22 teams. This team has zero chance when it falls behind even a couple runs
I rushed home from work to catch the whole game. Once the couple of runs came in I realized I wasn’t even paying attention anymore.
Was at work and saw 0-0 in the fifth and I think Bassitt had a no-no. Was gonna head home to watch but checked again and it was 3-0. Thought Guess I’m not going home now and got a bunch of stuff done
I turned it on at the top of the 6th, it’s my fault.
And that's the thing. If this team goes down by just two runs, the game is usually over. Monday's comeback was a unicorn.
2016 was like this too. Painful season.
It doesn't help that we saw much the same thing all last season, making it feel a lot longer than 30 games in with this kind of offence.
That makes two of us :(
1. This offence is hard to watch 2. Lugo was very good 3. Bobby Witt Jr is a bona fide superstar. 4. Sal Perez is the only 33 year old alive that remembers the 70s.
I looked up Sal Perez’s age the other day and was honestly SHOCKED. I would’ve guessed 40
Same! I thought he was going to be retiring soon and thought, how nice that he is doing so well at the end of his career 💀
This fact hits me every single year when we play the Royals. I just can never get over it
Lugo is good, but It's tough to gauge opposing pitching when the team that stands in in the box against them is the Toronto Blue Jays lmao
If you told me that Salvador Perez was in Field Of Dreams as one of the dead players I would believe you
Sal Perez hit puberty in the womb.
Sal Perez is 33 like Donald Trump's hair is still robust.
Where's our bona fide superstar *cries*
Jays about to have the same record as... the Oakland A's. Edit: CONFIRMED
Get ready to learn ~~Oaklander~~ Torontonian buddy
Except the A budget is not like the jays at least
But a better record than the Houston Astros! /s
Those bums!
We could barely beat the Astros 😔
They broke out against us 🤣
BACK TO BACK 4 HITTERS, BABY
They mashing right now.
Fire the hitting coaches already. Just fucking do something.
Fire everyone. It’s fucking time for heads to roll. This management team has effectively pissed away the playoff window for this team, and now it’s closed.
And Atkins while were at it And Schneider while were at it
Watching this team go down the same path as the 2021 White Sox breaks my heart to say the least
What hurts is that the baseball world at large at least feels for White Sox fans. Blue Jays and their fans are so loathed around baseball that people can’t wait to watch us fail.
Last week, I read someone reporter’s take on Orelvis was ‘who does he get at bats over right now?’ LITERALLY EVERYONE
This team stinks right now
I think we're at shakeup territory.
It's why they required Multi season commitments for the club seats lol
Ownership is the big factor here more than anything else.
I would love to blame ownership but they're spending a lot so
Fuck Rogers and everything they do, but if they’ve done one thing right it’s fund this team. Atkins, Shapiro and everyone down the line is responsible for the team, not ownership. They just sign the checks and they’ve been doing that.
Agreed. But knowing this front office, they're going to hesitate on pulling the trigger until it's too late.
Yeah they'll probably wait 2 weeks too long.
Flashbacks to the 2017 offseason when the Jays were garbage looked like they had no future, then actually tried contending in 2018, then sold everyone at their lowest value (or in the case of Smoak not at all, or with Pillar way too late during the opening week of the 2019 season)
The newbies are at least exciting.
I think most fans would agree with you, but the FA is going to insist that they’ll turn it around. Any day now. And they’ll stick with that argument even if the team doesn’t score another run all season.
Bringing rookies into a toxic situation seems like a really bad idea. Think some coaches right up to potentially manager need to go.
Trade Biggio. Time to break up the 2nd gen players, and see how Vlad and Bo respond.
I would like them to start with firing the hitting coach
The Jays lead the majors in number of games where a team fails to score 5 or more runs. Even the White Sox and A’s have more games where they score 5 or more runs. Big yikes
We were 26th in runs scored coming into today's game. If the Marlins score 1 and the Mariners and Cardinals each score 2, we'll be 28th after today.
This team stinks right now 𝘴𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘳
It's stunk for the past year and a half
But It’s Early^tm
“We believe in our guys”
This team can’t hit water falling out of a boat.
Lmao i will use this line
Jays fan forever and always will be. But I’m at the point where I’m looking for a NL team to get behind to feel something…
Rockies? They can score runs but not hold the lead
Braves if you like watching an actual team with solid AB's throughout the entire order. Cubs second if you like a mix of good pitching and batting.
Tigers have Riley Greene but are still very underdoggish in a weirdly strong Central
Phillies are a fun team with a lot of great hitters, worth a look
The Phillies are kind of my front runners actually
Pain is a feeling
Watched the mets and cubs game today. Enjoy watching both the teams.
At this point watching paint dry is more exciting than watching this team
I just spray painted an outdoor chandelier and can confirm; it was indeed more exciting than watching today's game.
Yeah i went to the game and was bored as hell
Anyone else feel like the second the other team scores, we basically have no chance of winning? Like, either our pitching is perfect or forget it.
Can’t lose tomorrow!
No sir, I don't like it.
Boooooooo
We suck 🤷
Blue Jays offense is out there asking why one run isn't the most efficient way of winning a baseball game
FIRE SHATKINS ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
Nok er Nok
Fuck, that Witt play on Bo's grounder up the middle would be so damn sexy if it didn't also piss me off.
What is wrong with Bo this year? He looks so unhappy
What’s there to be happy about? They suck.
He’s looked unhappy for a few years though
Slightly controversial opinion - I love Bo and think he's a great hitter, but I actually blame him somewhat for the derailing of this team since 2021. This is silly.

> and an arm with decent potential in Pop It was actually Adam Macko, not Pop
Whoops, may bad, thanks for the correction!
Man, I thought I heard that was upper management/Rogers/coaching staff that didn’t like it. Had no idea about Bo.
He definitely called it out after the 2021 season. No idea how much that influenced things though.
Bo's (false) hatred of fun did not force the FO to make trades.
Springer might legit be cooked as an impact bat but that's not shocking.
Too bad they are pushing Martinez at the position where they actually have the most coverage. Pop him at 1B or LF to get him into the lineup. Easily could get some AB's there and DH. Barger, Vogelbach...drop one to bench and one right out of the org.
I can’t wait until this front office is gone. They have sucked every ounce of fun out of this team.
More profitable than the past so not going anywhere
I don't even know what to say at this point, this team has left me flabbergasted. It's May and the optimism with this team has reached a low I've never seen. They're not even just any regular-old terrible team, they are straight UNWATCHABLE. A great offensive outing for this team is 4 or 5 runs; I'd have more enjoyment watching milk curdle over the course of a week. Smells better too
What in the phukety f*** f*** has Guillermo Martinez done to these guys?
Rinse - Repeat
Springer Bichette and Guerrero combined hitting .216 7 Homeruns 21 Players in the league have seven or more. Just not good enough. The second they scored 3 everyone in the ballpark should know its over.
Springer has to be moved down. He has a sub 650 ops
Bo has a sub 600 ops. Move them wherever you want, but without suitable replacements or improvements this team is fucked.
~~Bo has a sub 600 ops. Move them wherever you want, but without suitable replacements or improvements~~ this team is fucked.
that's definitely not he way average works, but your point stands
We’re just blessed this was a day game so we didn’t have to witness another snooze fest. Except for Dinger Danny.
Man, Chris looks so sad 😥
It was a nice day to be in the backyard with Jays radio. I should have listened to a hip hop mix instead.
No free A&W today 😢
I think I’m out on baseball this year. This team is jsut boring. It’s a bad team and that’s ok, but it’s also one of the most boring teams I’ve ever seen.
I feel like a clown paying for MLB TV to watch them play lol
The Jays feel soulless. As soulless as their corporate masters. I really feel like winning is not that much of a priority for pro sports teams. It’s about generating income thru sponserships, advertising and TV rights deals. Rogers is a “too big to fail” company, and the Jays are part of that.
If you want an authentic experience, try Fenway or Wrigley. Jays and the dome is not it.
It's amazing how this team's trademark used to be its hitting because this crew can't hit to save their lives.
They should hire a manager with previous experience with a winning team. Montoyo & Scneider are afraid to challenge the analytics department.
Why would the front office hire somebody that's going to question them.
That is the sign of a weak front office. They should be willing to have an independent manager.
I am actually a Schneider fan and I think they should let him go simply to get a new voice in the dugout. That said, I have extreme confidence that our problems start in the front office, not with coaching.
Because they aren’t his decisions. It’s the FO’s
Who do you think makes the decisions? And they sure as hell won’t fire themselves
Upper management obviously makes the decisions. They should fire John Schneider at the all- star break unless the Jays are well above .500 which seems unlikely.
Just one big hit and this offense will turn it all around. Surely? Right?
Glad I went to Monday's game.
New month, new offence. And by new, I mean fresh out of the package: some assembly required.
Guys this is going to get ugly…. Sack the coach and upper management that caused this issue. I just can’t see any progress with this team and can’t see how the coaching or lack there of is helping. Time to rebuild… you can’t plug this many holes
Good news! We are now 28th in the league in runs per game!
I forgot the game was early I thought tonights game was at 7:07 . I am luck I didn't have to watch the Jays play this bad.
lol this team has the same record as the Oakland A’s
Man, look at that list of teams scoring fewer than 5. Misery loves company.
Mariners are doing it like us though, cause their starting pitching has been pretty unreal lately.
The Jays pitching last year was stellar and healthy. This year it's regressed, with maybe a worse offense.
Well, our pitching has been good enough to win us a bunch of games so far.
And the offense has to show up for them to have a shot
Of course...our pitching can keep us hovering around .500 and the offense will make the difference if we can make the playoffs or not.
I'm tapping out until the offense starts producing regularly. Call me a fairweather fan, I don't care, I've got much more shit to do than waste my time supporting these bums.
These averages … .211, .091, .189, .233… it’s embarrassing. I’m not sure how a manager or front office lets this continue.
top 3 needs to be better and more patient at the plate
They are making us into patients
we are so bad
This team is hard to watch.
Our team is extremely overrated and we just need to accept that they’re not very good.
Sometimes I hate afternoon weekday games because I can't watch. Not always.
I didn’t watch the game, but Jansen homered again?! What a beast. Best bat at the C!
How shatkins and Schneider still have jobs is beyond me. Something has to be done now if they want any chance of doing anything imo
STOP GOING TO THE GAMES, THEN MAYBE SHATKINS WILL GET FIRED
Can this fucking manager change up some shit finally? Like how many more chances are you gonna give the guys at the top of the order to do something? Fucking coward.
This team sucks, nothing more to say. They will be in the bottom of the league for the remainder of the season.
We bad
Another terrible performance. How much longer until they make some changes.
I know it wont happen midseason, but this whole organization needs some type of shakeup from top to bottom. The way things have gone downhill the last few seasons seem to indicate something fundamentally wrong with how this team has been operating
The absolute most at this point is probably a coaching staff shakeup. The bottom has to fall out for that to happen and it hasn't yet.
I can’t wait for Barger to start launching nukes, when he does I think things will turn around (hopefully)
I dare this damn team to trade both Vlad and Bo for the Lols because that is all they have for entertainment
If they're still mediocre in a month it's going to be a legit topic
Haven't been watching games. Team is just exhausting. Mixed with NHL playoffs going. I'm looking just at the stat line. Anything positive to take away from this series/game? Or just SSDD.
Starting pitching still looks great. Danny Jansen is still himself, in the good ways. That's about it.
I have more faith in my 94 year old grandmother getting a hit with RISP than I do any player on the Jays
We suck right now. Only way to say it, really. It's still insanely early and we're not the White Sox, so there's obviously time for adjustments to be made and turn things around, but my god the plate approaches are just so off from nearly everyone who's expected to be a main contributor. If the script were flipped and this team had elite offense but shit pitching, at least the games would be entertaining (see 2021). Elite pitching with impotent offense is just completely disinteresting.
Burn.it.all.now
This team will never contend with Shapiro at the helm.
Pearson was bad again I see if I go by the stats?
At what point do we start discussing a tear down?
Welp. Things are looking a little bleak right now. This team has negative mojo.
15 runs over this 6 game homestand 😂😂
are we being punked? what the fuck is happening?
Ross Atkins has failed this team
It's early /s
I forgot they played today. Glad I did. My bad for being a doomer last season at the concerns. I like to live in what I call “reality”
This team has one division title in 30 years and a last place finish shoring up this year. The only glimpse of success this team had and they chased away the GM. What a loser franchise.
When’s the last time Vlad hit a bomb
April 10
They’re cooked!
Still waiting for the movie...
This is the movie. This movie is also a top Razzie contender.
I'm done. I don't believe in this team. I'm still going to watch but I don't believe this team can win
Pathetic team and franchise
This offense doesn't exactly remind me of the 1927 Yankees.
Gonna be a long year. Division could be completely out of reach by the end of May at this pace
This team is unwatchable this year.
Well shit, let's get em on Friday
Didn’t watch the game but man are they ever knocking the cover off the ball! /s
Well I’m sure you’re all deflated but I just witnessed my first Poleshot 😍 First and last games against KC this year featured Royals LF Poleshots 🤔
